It is strange to see that good number of cars including vento are running on 195/60 R 15 size and michelin doesn't have much to offer them.

About PLC , even if the car is running on good roads , while parking her we might face irregular& sharp protruding surfaces which can lead to sidewall damage.

Regarding bridgestone ECOPIA , I found that there reduction in rolling resistance , leading to energy transfer back to the car hence increase in FE it also helps in decreasing the CO 2 emission for same reason.

However as mentioned by fellow TAIn jarpickle , the sidewalls are as soft as michelin PLC hence good comfort but not good for potholed roads Review: Bridgestone Ecopia EP422

I got my trye rotated last week & checked all the tyre surprisingly they still look good for another 20000kms, there is good amount of rubber intact. Infact the tyre guy asked me if I have been filling nitrogen as tyre looks good at 50000kms, I said no all I have been doing is filling /checking air pressure every week & getting rotation done every 9-10000kms. This time no weights were required as the tyre remained balanced, granted that I drive 90% on expressway with very good roads.

So I have another 6-8 months to go before I think of tyre change by then Tornado can give me real feedback how the new tyre have been.

Two days back , I inflated the the tires to 32 psi as recommend ed by TATA since the tyre dealer had told me to maintain 30 psi till running in period is over. I will soon post FE figures .

Yesterday , I travelled along with my family. My wife who was seating on rear seat said that she didn't got the vomiting sensation during cornering in Ghat section which she otherwise used to get while taking turns with old tyres. Also she felt more comforatable during brisk overtaking manuvours[clap]

I told her that it is due to reduced bodyroll due to upsizing. She asked , what is bodyroll and upsizing ? I responded her by switching on the roof mounted DVD player which played bollywood movie ' special 26'[music].

Track down someone who owns a Corolla Altis. The ER300 is the stock tire on the Altis. If all else fails, go to a Toyota showroom and test drive the Altis [;)]

@msjawahar,ER300 are asymmetrical tires, it's major USP is sporty handling(we own a wagon R which runs on asymmetrical tyres) Comfort also increases as compared to BS 250 or accelere.Due to effortless driving as a result of better handling FE also improves. Moreover, ER300 are available in OEMsize.

I didn't went for ER 300 because I was more interested in comfort, hence
went for upsize and unfortunately asymmetrical (ER 300)is not available with 195 /60R15 size, My car comfort level is improved. Handling is also improved but not as good asymmetric tyres.

Potenza RE 88 are available only with up size and not in Manza OEM size . If you decide to go for them, handling and comfort would improve(though comfort level improvement won't be better than Turanza ER 60) but FE would reduce and the life span is also little lesser as compared to Turanzas.

@jp, ER300 are not OE corolla tyres IMO. They are either ER 60 or Potenza RE 88, bot symmetric and in 195 /60R15 size.

I have seen 2 Altis Corolla's with ER300's They have had them since new.I put on my detective glasses when I see cars. Can't help it [lol]

The size was 195/65R15 I was thinking of getting these for the Ertiga since it is wider than the current 185/65R15.The Altis GL that comes with Alloys has ER300's.

Tornado,

How many kms done with the new tyres and is your over all experiance.

Could you please make a detailed comparison of ER 300 and Turanza ER60 and their relative suitability for Manza so that all of us could benefit from your thorough research.

Don't know about Altis corolla, but old gen corolla OE size is 195 /60R15 & not195/65 R15.

I did mention Altis in my previous post as well. The Altis's that come with alloys are shod with 195/65R15 ER300's

Good to see that you are enjoying the ER60's.With the ER300 you would've had a 5% increase in OD and an almost 14% increase in sidewall height compared to the stock 185/60R15 tires this could have lead to scraping issues. Also the asymmetric tires can't be rotated like normal tires and can only be moved front to back and vice versa.

3000 +km.
I'm happy with them.

ER300 is available in stock OEM size Manza(185 /60R15)hence FE should improve for this reason and reasons mentioned below.
ER 60 is available in195/60R15 size which is an immediate upsize for manza.
We own a wagon R which runs ON Michelin xm2 which is comparable to ER300.

ER 60 gives me improved comfort and stability on road. Road grip is excellent. Steering response is better.
Most important benefit is almost nil body roll.
FE seems to be reduced by one km at least.

Xm2 are asymmetrical and give increased comfort but handling has improved a lot. I mean to say aymetric tyres are driver's tyres while symmetric tyres are passenger's tyres. The road grip, steering response is awesome(better than symmetrical tyre s) . Wet road handling and muddy road Stability is exceptionally good as compared to symmetrical tyres.

You meant ER300 or is it xm2 here?
And shall I take it that asymetrical tyres decrease the comfort but improve handling, road grip and steering response.

ER 60 gives me improved comfort and stability on road. Road grip is excellent. Steering response is better.

FE seems to be reduced by one km at least.
In that case, FE reduction could be calculated roughly as about Rs 3000 per year for an average running of 12000 km with current diesel prices.
That is OK for the benefits like improved comfort, stability, road grip and steering response.

Could you please clarify according to you whether ER300 185/60/15 is having better stability, handling, road grip and steering response with reduced comfort as compared to ER60 195/60/15.
