Re: Manza tire upgrade /upsize : First drive report: turanza ER 60

I reported the tire replacement news to my better half , she was amused and touched my feet and thanked the god for ending my tire shopping spree.[:D]
We also touch your feet. [evil] Finally you bought them.[clap]
Jokes apart, congrats for the new tyres. And glad to know that performance has improved considerably. I believe that we should not deviate from the original specs. But here I might change my opinion, based on your reviews in coming months/ years. If things improve, I am going to follow Tornado as well.

Speedo error would be 2% (1.98 % to be precise) slower than the reality. i.e. if the speedo is showing 100 km /h , it is actually running @102 km./hr. or if it showing 49 km./hr when it is actually running @ 50 km/hr. Please correct me if I am wrong.

@ nozzle ring , I wish they restart the production of the A 10 Turanza by the time it is your turn to upsize or change replace the tyres.

I guess this will also affect you mileage figures & distance to empty figures since tyre is rotating less but speedo showing you 2% more.

@ gypsy , The red and hollow yellow dots are meant for proper wheel balancing , the amount of the weights required at the time of balancing is less if the guidelines regarding the dots are followed , don't know about blue dots. http://www.tire-valve.com/blog/2012...ng-of-the-red-dot-and-yellow-dot-on-the-tire/

Few pics of the previous B 250 , bridgestone ,185/60 R 15 ,

Last 2 pics are showing the tread left err..not left at the time of replacement.

As you can see the thread has already covered 15 pages[;)].

Jokes apart, congrats .
I am thankful to you all for helping me and guiding me towards proper direction during the buying decision.

It was a long and tiring experience for me too.
Reasons -
1)I was not sure whether to buy apple or orange.
2} Also it took lot of time to identify and differntiate between the apples and oranges.
3} the stocks' tire size was odd and only two brands were offering it BS B 250 , BS Turanza ER 300 {asymmetrical) , appollo acelere.
4) It took me a little bit more time to realise that B 250 are basic & general category tires .Acelere reports were not encouraging on TAI.
5) there was no thread about manza tyre replacement and upsizing on TAI.
6) It was difficult to fix my requirements and expectations ( comfort / sporty handling , light steering /heavy steering , car pickup etc) Finally I decided to go for mixture of comfort and sporty handling. This was a time consuming step which got complemented by the manufacturing date issues. The worst part was that the Bridgestone Pune office phone lines were not functioning.

7) There was sporadic and scattered info available on net about the stock size and upsize. So it took time to arrive at upsizing decision. Also it was my first upsizing decision.
8) The websites of various brands were providing or not providing the info and details which was not matching when checked at dealerships.
On the top of it , BS website provides only addresses of the dealers and not Phone numbers. Though they had two options in stock size and many in upsize.

Every where , I found people praising ' michelin ' as world's top ranking company , but I disagree with them, no , not for lack of stock size , but for not having any info on upsizing. Also they do not have options in the desired upsize. Corolla , chevy magnum , cedia run on that size but michelin had only PLC to offer which has got weak sidewall and it is not Indian road friendly ..Same is true with yokohama db.
Ideally they should have provided the size in XM2 also.

9} Decision to upsize to Corolla -toyota size (195/60 R 15 ) was taken, I could not find its reviews on TAI'S corolla thread.
10) The Apollo launched some fourth generation tyres which didn't had stock or upsize tires.

11} I wasn't intrested in other I ndian manufacturers as past experience was not encouraging.eg , CEAT , MRF , jk .This is probably because my previous cars came with them as OE , And car co.s must have opted for cheap and basic category versions from them as a part of cost cutting which has marred the tyre co's reputation.

12) It is really ridiculous on the part of michelin to have only one option for good selling car like corolla.
13} Falken being new in India has come with sidewall cut warranty for the tire meant for Japanese condition s rather than manufacturing something appropriate for Indian conditions , Also I was not sure about its comfort and handling in Indian conditions.
