Even TSI engine is going to be 3 cylinder only. If that is something which is going to bother you, stick to i20 which has inferior driving experience.

Since it is your first car, you should not worry about engine capability. 1.2 TSI will be 80HP. It will be around same like i20. The turbo in TSI will increase your fuel efficiency by 1 to 1.5 kmpl over current model.

If you believe you could live with it, driving will not make you feel any inferior. Infact I look up to driving everytime I see my car.

Ride quality, steering feel are leaps ahead of i20. Only take the highline model even if that means paying 1 lakh extra. Totally worth it.

Put on some Euro style headlamps and tails and don't look back.

PS: Those interested, I have found Angel Eyes smoked headlights with DRL. More importantly they are RHD as everyone had requested. UK version.

Price is 999 Euros (Ouch)

Yes. Wait till TSI gets released.

If you cant wait, test drive few other cars as well.

Dont take anyone's word for it.

Feel free to ask any questions. There are many active Polo owners here.

If you can wait and put some more money, polo tsi it should be.

Between current polo and i20:

I20 positives against polo:
Better engine refinement. Less engine sound at high rpms
Better features like auto folding mirrors, key less start/stop.
Better service network.

Rest polo beats i20 in every department. Driving fun, the engagement, ride quality etc. is far better in polo than i20.

You can tell us more about your requirements, which may bring a new angle altogether!!

Haha same here.

Link to buy

They say that ballast is compatible. But it may require some VAG COM setting to set up DRL according to your liking.

So 999 Euros + 40 (shipping) + ??? (Import duty) + 500 Rs (Installation) + Unexpected incompatibilities

Not sure if it's worth it.

The only thing they have going for them is they are RHD and will fit any 6R Polo.

Where did you read that the 1.2TSI will only be a measly 80bhp? [shock] AFAIK, it pumps out 105bhp and 175Nm torque. That blows the competition right out of the water. [clap]

And yes. € 999 is a lot of money. I would never spend Rs. 70k for a pair of headlights.

There is still a debate on that. Few people over at vwwatercooled forums are speculating it to be at that 80 bhp. I believe it can be true as it would be tuned for Indian conditions and would again be a 3 cyl engine.

VW could also keep the prices almost at current levels if power output remains similar. The only benefit would be increase in FE which our Indian public wants.

It's just a theory. Who knows VW may have other plans!

I think VW will get the 1.2 Tsi pumping out 105bhp, the same as VipinLJ said. I am sure they wont plonk in another so called underpowered engine to the Polo and would try and change the current perception by giving the customers a complete drivers delight package with a stonking engine and the amazing built of the Polo to make it the most desired hatchback in the country.

If they bring 80 bhp then it will be across all the trims, which would mean phasing out of earlier polo models altogether.
If they bring 105 bhp then it will only be the high end trim, and the earlier models will continue to sell.
The second option is more likely because VW will bring new polo in 2015 anyways, and bringing completely whole line up (85 hp tsi) in 2013 doesn't make much economical sense.

Is our current 75 PS Polo equal to 75 BHP?
1 hp = .9863 ps

power conversion - converting units of power, horsepower, ps, kw, hp, bhp

Hi Sanke1,

First of all congratulations for your new car. I am going to buy polo highline petrol from bangalore. But the OTR price whatever you mentioned (6.xxL) is not matching with what quoted to me (7.08L). And i hope you bought it in bangalore itself. Please share some bargaining tips :)
