Re: Upgraded Volkswagen Polo Coming. Possibly with 1.6 TDi?

@Raja

OK, I would some up with this opinion here with is subjective[:)]
I am not against the car POLO at all, I am against for its high pricing for what ever it is offering.
When you said that Why Fabia and not Polo, yes there is a price difference with their respective offerings, I hope you understand that both have similar built and other qualities, but look at the space offered in Fabia, surely it will be much better than Polo and look at the noise of the both the cars, Fabia is better. That's it nothing more I would like to say here. Yes I am not against any brand VW or Skoda. The opinion differs from model to model which is again personal and subjective. Though it is costly I felt Yeti is worth to buy for the things it offers, I like Octavia, Luara, Superb for their offerings and price too, but I do not like Polo or Vento for their offerings and price, at the same time I like Jetta and Passat for their offerings and price, you know it is subjective always.

Polo is just a hatch and I feel Punto does the job very well than Polo in terms of everything including the price !![clap] so no offence on anything
The price difference of polo and fabia is not much, now with slashed price of polo highline diesel, fabia top model is around 50k higher than this polo top model. Yes the space inside fabia is higher, but the engine noise is similar in both. In fact I have heard people say that fabia is even more noisier than polo.

You like all the vehicles except polo and vento? Eh.
You are fond of laura/jetta, superb/passat but that doesn't seem to be inline with polo/fabia combo.
Jetta and Passat are known to be lesser VFM when compared to laura and superb respectively, still you like them. Then how come same doesn't hold true for polo and vento? I am scratching my head to get it.

Right now,

Do not scratch you head too much, it is just simple. please read my post again wherein I clearly said it is subjective & personal opinion[clap] I have my own reasons for that.

Please read my post again, in the first sentence it self I told it is subjective conclusion !!
Respect you subjective opinion and conclusion completely .+1000

And then you must not suggest or suggest a polo or fabia just because you have you'r subjective reasons to like it or not , it is called biased suggestion .
You need to mention it that in your subjective opinion you don't feel the polo right , since you are even suggesting people " think twicel think carefully " when they want to buy polo you need to mention it .
I personally don't like many cars but , if some one wants to buy and ask suggestion about it I must keep by subjective opinion aside and give them whatever info I know about the car .

You are saying fabia has bigger space , what if the buyer dosent want bigger space ? Remember when we suggest any car to any 1 it must not be according to what we like and qualities which we give priority .

.Our suggestions must be based on what requirements does the buyer have . His requirement must be given priority .

+100 to this my friend a suggestion should not be subjective and biased. But I hope this thread is about some announcement and not about suggestion I felt, hence I have posted what ever I feel in general. I repeat once again that I am not against Polo and I will surely suggest to somebody for its positives, but only thing I was not happy with its price which I felt bit higher from the beginning !! may be because of so called brand value !!

Re: Upgraded Volkswagen Polo Coming. Possibly with 1.6 TDi?

Now what you talk makes sense , because along with city driveability you are also ready to compromise on the in cabin quality of figo right ?

But I find Gurrallas statement contradictory since he is suggesting a fabia for its quality and skoda badge but thinks asking price of polo is not justified .

Now for curiosity my question to you is if wanted a car to drive on highways and had nesscary budget what will you buy ? I20 , punto , fabia or a polo ?
Many people says ford figos interiors are not so good. But I am of the opinion that Ford Figo is a great car that offers VFM and I have never felt its interiors to be bad. Its interiors can be refered to as nothing more nothing less design.
If I am to choose a car for highways I would rank Punto as number one and then it would be VW Polo followed by Ford Figo for the VFM it offers

Re: Upgraded Volkswagen Polo Coming. Possibly with 1.6 TDi?

This is what I had been saying all this while.
Regarding the noise, many times I take out my polo out at night, roll down the videos and listen to the engine growl. Anybody who loves the engine noise will love this note I swear.
I do love the engine noise the growling when revved. But drivability in city as said in my earlier posts matters a lot when a buyer looks for a car that would be driven mostly in city. When we look polo from that point of view , engine is a week point.

Gurrala. I understand what you meant. The price for the brand value we pay for is comparatively higher when it comes to VW. That is the reason why VW remains as a premium brand.[:D]

Re: Upgraded Volkswagen Polo Coming. Possibly with 1.6 TDi?

Mods, please rename the title to Polo Vs Fabia.[lol]

Coming back to topic, here is latest update -

VOLKSWAGEN INDIA PULLS OUT POLO 1.6 PETROL HATCHBACK FROM OFFICIAL WEBSITE: CAR DISCONTINUED?

For a while now, there has been some buzz about German car maker Volkswagen discontinuing the top end 1.6 Liter petrol engined version of the Polo owing to the low sales this flagship variant brings in. While Volkswagen has not released official communication regarding discontinuing this model yet, it seems to have pulled the Polo 1.6 off its official website. This could indicate that Volkswagen has indeed chosen to discontinue the Polo 1.6 from the Indian car market.

Re: Upgraded Volkswagen Polo Coming. Possibly with 1.6 TDi?

Volkswagen recently launched an updated version of the Polo, giving the car minor updates along with addition of new features. The German automaker has also revised prices of the Volkswagen Polo, positioning it aggressively against segment leader, the Maruti Suzuki Swift. The reduction in prices is definitely a welcome move, although many prospective buyers still crave for more refined and powerful engines on the Polo. Volkswagen doesn’t have a 1.5-litre diesel engine in its kitty.

However Volkswagen is said to be working on a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine, which could find its way into the Polo, Vento, Skoda Fabia and Rapid. This engine has been codenamed EA 189 and would also power the compact sedan based on the Up! Now Volkswagen has already launched the updated Polo, then why is the company still testing it. We spotted the Polo pictured here in Mumbai, with MH14 plates. In our brief encounter, we could hear slightly lower engine sound but can’t really confirm anything at this moment.

Could Volkswagen be testing a 1.5-litre diesel engine in the Polo. The boot of the car clearly reads TDI and there are high chances the company is working hard to bring a more powerful diesel engined Polo to the Indian market. Volkswagen recently discontinued the Polo 1.6 and could offer the Polo 1.5 TDI as a replacement. The Volkswagen Polo 1.5 TDI could very well be the performance hatchback which enthusiasts are waiting for. The 1.5-litre diesel engine (EA 189) is expected to produce 94 BHP of power and 230 Nm of torque.

Its going to be a great move if VW introduces a higher powered diesel variant of Polo to India.
VW India must make the process quicker. Considering the specs we could assume it would be positioned against the Fiat Punto 90HP.

Re: Upgraded Volkswagen Polo Coming. Possibly with 1.6 TDi?

Hi Vishnunarayanan,

Lowering the cost of 1.2 HL TDI could be a move to slip in 1.6 TDI at the Older rate of 1.2 HL TDI i.e 7.36 Lacs, We need to wait and see.
