Either fill the car with every possible feature but forget the basics or provide the few basics with quality and perfection at given cost. Choice is yours.
True. To the mango person (aam admi), features are what matter more and to them, the Polo is not VFM but to petrol/diesel-heads like us, we know why we chose this car :)

Vipin,

Do you have any Distance to Empty from MID and MID issues in your Polo? Can you please let me know about this?
Issues as in? I have not used the distance to empty meter much. The only time it comes on is when the low-fuel warning light lights up and that was only twice. I use only the real-time mileage indicator to try and extract maximum mileage during my highway trips. But I think the distance to empty works fine because when I fill her up completely, it shows 800kms and when the low fuel warning came up, it showed 75kms. What is the issue that you are facing? Maybe then I can check if I have the same issue.

Hey Vipin, do you get the judder while driving your car in start stop traffic?
I thought I was alone. I used to get the judder a lot in the beginnings but now not much. I thought that maybe it was due to my driving style or something but this judder used to happen only in the Polo. But for the past couple of months, I am judder free *touchwood*

You mean judder while breaking.
No. While moving the car from halt. Drives me nuts.
Yup. I know the feeling. It used to drive me nuts too. No matter how careful I was, it used to judder like crazy and I actually suspected a clutch problem (because I've driven almost all cars available here under the Rs. 25l bracket and I never faced any problem in any car). But then for the past couple of months, I have not faced the issue. I think it has resolved by itself. Do you still get the judders? Isn't your car a year old now? Did you get the service done?

cross your fingers and hope that its not related with clutch plate.
I hope so too. Like I said, my issue resolved by itself. I did not take it to the workshop or get any work done. It just resolved by itself. My Getz used to have the same issue but that was only when the AC was switched on and when I was in stop-and-go/crawling traffic and I guess that was because my Getz is underpowered.

In fact some features on polo like remote controlled window roll up and down, instantaneous Fuel consumption, Boot opener with key from inside- are very useful features!!

When I went for Polo's TD, I asked the SA only one thing- does it have a CD player? That's it.

And one of the things I miss the most is USB [cry]

I'm not playing around with anything at the moment because I really am scared of VW and their stupid warranty policies. I asked at the service centre and they said warranty WILL be void no matter what if I get anything done from outside (that includes changing the steel rims to alloys!!!!) Since I'm a but pressed for time at the moment, I thought I'd take things easy for the moment because if God forbid anything happens, then I won't have the time to run after them. But regarding the alloys and the blackened roof, I might take the plunge sometime soon.

All accessories shops know how to NOT cut wires and install accessories on polo. I don't think you need to worry on warranty part that much. I have seen many cars with aftermarket stereos at workshop too.

I know about all that. But the thing is, like I said, I simply don't have the time to run around if and when they make a big fuss regarding warranty (if ever it arises). I don't want to take my chances :)

Update:

First accident [cry]

There is this electric pole near the lane that leads to my girlfriend's house and a teashop right next to that. The people who come there leave their scooters and bikes on the road. Now yesterday, there was heavy traffic in the road from where this lane branches. It is a 90-degree turn and since the lane is narrow (only one car can go at a time), I usually take a wide left turn but couldn't do so yesterday. And some local who had come to the teashop had kept his scooter near the pole and his front wheel was turned to the road. I didn't see it as the rest of the scooter was at the level of the pole (only the front wheel was in front). I took the turn with a not-so-wide radius and the mud guard of the scooter rubbed against my car and there was a huge dent at the bottom half half of the LHS rear door. [frustration]
I parked my car there and got out to check and choked up when I saw the dent (my first accident). I lost my cool and verbally abused the guy (I should not have done that). Me verbally abusing him made him angry too and he said it was not at all his fault and the locals started taking his side saying his scooter was parked even though it was on the road and stuff. He later demanded that I buy him a new mud guard and stuff and I conceded because I just somehow wanted to get him off my back (He knows where my girl lives and I don't want him to go after her and her family.) I gave him Rs. 1000 and said that I never want to see his face again coming to ask for money (He first told me his shock-absorber and chassis and everything got bent but I did not let him sit on my head).
Anyways. What happened happened. No use crying over spilt milk. I had booked my car for the summer service campaign and got a slot for tomorrow. Now that won't happen until later this week.
We took the car to a garage which belongs to a friend of my girl's grandfather. It seems the people there do a good job when it comes to denting and painting. When I asked VW, they said I have to change both LHS front and back doors (front door also has a small scratch which extends to the rear door). Knowing how VW take their own sweet time with replacements and claims, I decided to get it done at the local garage. They said they'll give me the car day after tomorrow.
I will let you guys know how everything goes and the charges and stuff.

I didn't take any pictures of the dent because it hurt me to even look at it.

I have made a rough drawing using MS Paint to try give you guys a better idea of what happened. :)

On a different note. I got two very small accessories for my car. Or should I say, for the keys :)

I got two VW key chains that caught my eye.

I bought them from eBay. The quality is not very good but I'm not complaining considering what I paid for them :)

The only downside is that the one with the blue background has a gun-metal colored mirror finish on the other side. I thought it would be the same VW logo on the other side as well.

Are you sure that the local garage can match the exact candy white of your polo?
You can always claim for insurance. Why do you want to go for local workshop when its just the first year of your car and you may actually end up paying less under insurance?

Because I had asked VW and they said the entire process would take atleast a month and I do not have time to go after all that because my university exams are coming up. They have done work on my girl's ex-Vista and the color matching was done well. I even got my Getz done from there after my uncle managed to scratch it up and the color matching was done well.

Another reason was that I did not want to lose NCB on my insurance which actually amounts to a big amount 4-5 years down the line. I can use that NCB on the insurance of my new car and I can get upto 60pc off down the line when we sell the Polo.

That is why I thought I'd get a local job for the moment. If (and I hope it doesn't happen) ever anything similar happens in the future and the work done by these people are not up to the mark, I will claim insurance then.
