Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [24K Kms Crossed]

wow [:)] that looks super awesome, wld again like to mention that your faith in the vehicle has been contagious enough for quite a few of us in order to take that leap of faith.
Keep pouring more!
cheers
Kartik
Thanks karthik, the proof of the pudding is always in the eating! [:D] - I have been overwhelmed with prospective pajero owners writing to me and i always keep saying its a hard choice between this and the mighty T-Fort -the purchaser's priorities and needs dictate the outcome. I remember Soorya calling me and thanking me for making him buy the Sport, it saved his family in a major accident that he unfortunately encountered.

Thanks for the trust and yes please keep sharing experiences. I keep saying to myself after owning a Mitsubishi its hard to buy a non Japanese SUV as your next upgrade.

Hi,
Good pictures.. 13 km/Litre is a great mileage for such a big car.
Yes i keep telling myself its not bad, the hard part is you need to have a light right foot especially when you are accelerating in third/fourth gear turbo range. I dont think i can ask for more.

Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [25K Kms Crossed]

Service Report 30K Service or 4th Service as per Service booklet :-

The vehicle has run 26.5K so far and completed 2 years ! Bulletproof reliability and niggle free ownership - so much so i can term it borderline boring. [:)]

The usual service checks done :-

1)All 4 Brake Pads check
2) All fluids check
3) Oil and Oil Filter replaced as this was a one year interval - i am following one year interval for oil changes and go with Mitsubishi recommended synthetic oil for now.
3) Torquing of bolts and suspension check
4) Rotated Tyres, but didn't use the spare (should have done it on second thoughts but just was lazy!)
5) Propeller Shaft greasing
6) Air Filter Cleaning
7) AC Filter Installation
8) AC Belt replacement at 30K
7) Typical servicing checks
8) Flashing the ECU for indicator light one tap function
9) Remove the Memory card from the kenwood head unit - will update maps separately.

Total Damages :- 12.8k
Oil - 7k
AC Filter - 1.8k (I procured from Thailand OEM)
AC Belt :- 1k (ridiculous price)
Labour - 1k
Oil Filter - 1k
+ Taxes

Here are some of images :-

Hood open - ready for transfusion

The air filter before cleaning up with compressed air, reminds me all the time to go for K&N - hopefully soon.

Liquid Gold, Oil Filter and AC belt

Getting all the brake pads checked, surprisingly all of them have lasted well and will last further easily, hard to predict, but my initial target of 30K on original pads seems pretty easy now, lets see how far can it go. That puts an end to the brake pad conundrum many owners have raised, my tip to owners, drive nice and easy and you will get a better life! Also i have procured a brake pad set from thailand in anticipation, looks like i wont be using it for a little bit more.

Under body checks and Torquing of bolts, every time i peep inside i am reassured of the bulletproof underpinnings.

AC Belt has a 30K replacement tenure, it did look fine and taut - but still replaced it as per their norms, the current one will serve as a backup for any future mishap

AC Filter installation process :- For some really weird reason the HM has dropped the AC filter in the Pajero Sport, thanks to the tip from A.G i managed to procure it from Thailand and install. I think its now available at dealers as HM is retrospectively fitting it.

Open the glove-box and remove it from the hinges, remove the four screws and take out he black plastic panel.

IMG_20151205_115313.jpg

There is a rectangular AC filter panel, cut the black parts to make way for the filter to go in

The paper based AC filter, Before you install it thoroughly clean/blow the area underneath this panel and clear off all dust from the pre filter era, new PS owners might want to check if this already exists in their cars and if not get this fitted asap. This will go a long way in enhancing the AC life.

Fits, nice and easy and simply bolt it there, mind the direction as per what is marked.

IMG_20151205_114953.jpg

Once again thanks to a tip off from A.G i hooked up the MUT to the PS and had a 400ms flasher function added to the indicator, so now you can single tap and have it flash 3 times (400ms) or set it up for 6 times (800ms) - there are few other diagnostic options but i didn't find anything useful, i wish there was an option to auto lock doors!

Post the service I saw a beauty being washed, sorry for being a pervert and clicking !

Then the long drive to the farm happily posing on the way!

Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [26K Kms Crossed]

Happy to read that your ownership is niggle free and glad that customizations were helpful. I thought that both 400ms and 800ms settings have only 3 flashes of indicator and that the difference was in Switch acceptance time of 0.4 sec or 0.8 sec to indicate the 3 flashes.

Your post gave me a heads-up to prepare for tomorrow's service as I had no idea (lazy me) about the AC Belt Replacement.

One question - in 2 of the pictures, the red coloured connector with yellow wiring for the passenger airbag is clearly visible. Do you remember how it was mounted? Tips on this would help with the DIY install.

You might be right it wont be 6 clicks but just a higher time gap.
The airbag connector was tucked in i guess, dont remember exactly , can open tomorrow and recheck.

In the service remember to grease the propeller shafts, most don't do it unless you ask for.

How did you procure the brake pads from Thailand? Which site/vendor? What was the cost? Which make are they? Can you please post photos?
Sirji your good friend Raj Dutt [:D] , he is travelling again shortly and i have ordered the clutch switch too with him. I will take some snaps and upload, brake pads come in original HM/Mitsu boxes costing 3800 for both the front and rear set.

Yes the Pajero (the one we know as Montero) will cease to have any future R&D for now - as per the statement from Mitsubishi. Pajero Sport will continue though. Considering their dismal financial state i think this is the right move, the Montero is heavy engineering investment and not a mass selling product.

Hi Iron Rock - very interesting, the MUT. Is it the MUT-iii? Did you download it from some site or buy it? i had come across it but found it to be too expensive, and far more than what i needed. I thought the Torque Vgate was a good alternative as an OBD.

Sirji, this is the dealer software at Pune (Pethkar Motors), I have separately the torque app and a few plugins, there is a plugin for mitsubishi as well called Advanced Mitsubishi LT, I am yet to try the details of it.
