Re: Suggestions needed for buying a good DSLR

A DSLR should be bought keeping the lenses in mind.

Lenses should be decided keeping the usage in mind.

Better go for PS camera for Rs. 15000 with 15x zoom.

It will be easy to carry and more flexible for wide range of photography use

Rs8000 lens will show its true nature sooner or later when you know what photography is.

Tamaron makes some awesome lenses.

And Skoda's OEM alloy(single piece) costs 17K.

Does that mean it is better than an average alloy.

@ Mods Maybe the DSLR information thread could have been left alone and both the buying threads merged.

@ AMG As i said before the Canon 1000D is pretty old in the market , its there for 3 years now i think. Specs wise the Nikon D5100 seems better and this is a new entrant in the market , just 6 months old. I think i will go with something new in the market.

@ Jayadev What would be your suggestion? My heart is almost sold for the Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm kit lens , costs around Rs.37k totally.

Nikon D5100, is awesome camera.
18-55mm will limit you for normal fotogrphy, add some more money and get 18-105 ,which will cover most of the needs.

Guys finally got my Nikon D5100 yesterday with 18-55mm kit lens along with 4GB memory card and a DSLR bag at Croma costed around 38k. Paid extra Rs.990 to get two years extended warranty too in addition to the two years standard warranty. I don't know about the reliability of DSLR'S so took it just to be on safer side. Camera is really awesome but have to read the manual and get used to all the functions , took some sample pictures too , will post them here.
