Thanks friends for your reply, one thing to ask, is it okay to use the diesel vehicle once in a week and a monthly running of 1000 kms.

Will there be any issue with the diesel engine if i use only once in a week? Please advise.

Thanks,
Udaa
To my knowledge nothing will happen to these days Diesel engines as Mr. RK said. The comment is purely based on incident which i see in our apartment. A neighbor had a Swift Diesel and I think he takes it only once in a week and I find no problem for him for nearly 2 years now.

But I do not know does he feel anything while driving.

Hi,

Thanks friends for the reply. Yeah, i wanted to take the right decision, so thats the reason i wanted to consider all the pros and cons on the diesel engine before i take the final decision.

What are the cons in diesel engine when compared to petrol?

-1 Higher torque in Diesel.
-2- 30% extra maintenance for Diesel

Am i missing something else? pls advise.

Thanks,
udaa

^^ Higher torque cannot be considered as -ve point bro.

and yes maintenance is little more than petrol. I dont think it is 30% more as compared to Petrol. But you need to also see that you will save on your fuel bills but pay more EMI. As your running is less I would recommend petrol. But you have more money go for diesel.
Diesel standing for 10 days also wont affect it. My car is standing since last friday and will be only driving next tuesday. Am I worried . Absolutely No. [:D]

My Ritz diesel gives me 18+ in city with AC and 23+ on highways with AC(speed between 70 to 90kmph). I do not know petrol figures and the price difference in fuel is

Diesel - 52/ltr
Petrol - 76/Ltr

The above or Hyderabad prices.

Wow! 23+ on the highways, excellent mileage!!

Thanks,
Udaa
Yes, but please note that speed range there, then only it can be achieved and most of the times I drive around 100-110kmph[:)].

I think this is going OT here in this thread, hence I request you to open a new thread for your requirement on Auto shopper section please.

Pls find the calculator attached.

[clap] Outstanding work Mahii! Infact now that the CNG has launched a 3 way calculation shud be fun!!

You cant imagine how many templates i've made and deleted while making the decision for a Erti-diesel last year. Infact my mind was already made up as I was replacing my Dzire VDI but needed to justify it financially! Also Kudos for making the right move of waiting for the ZDi. I had boooked ZDI pre-launch and the waits were still more than 4 months in mumbai! So unfortunately setteld for VDI in JUNE Last year, but have upgraded the Rear wiper defogger/sprayer and a few other things!

Need your sincere help in upgrading the ICE! pls give feedback of how ur system is holding up, and shud i go for the Vizag seller?

Pls Pls reply asap!

Well people generally tend to interpret that diesel cars have higher maintenance which is a wrong assumption IMO.

Lets me give u an example, go to carwale and search for a 2 year old swift petrol and diesel.

you will notice that swift petrol have run in the range of 10k to 15 k KMs and diesels on other hand 25k + kms.

A person who buys a diesel car automatically has increase in distance covered because it is economical. i.e if u intend to do 5000 km in a petrol car, you will do 10,000 km because you will find it convenient on your pocket. This is a psychological factor that everyone misses out.

And when the mileage increase so shall the wear and tear.
