Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

The car is looking good. What may be the expected price range?. Why the name kite though, kite is something very light, cheap, loose controls ('manja', thread breaks)at higher speeds (of wind flow), ruptures easily if struck with any object![lol]
MAN!!!!!!!!! what an elaboration on the name. May be it was to suggest flows with the wind. Kite is not cheap my friend it brings out the excitement in you. May be it will be launched during Dewali. when there is KITE flying competition only this would be a car.[lol] we better not have a competition for flying TATA KITE[:D]

Kite is not what you think[:)]
Kite is a bird and it is a strong one.

Further, Kite in all probability will be a project name like Falcon - Project name for Zest and Bolt.

Yes absolutely. Falcon4 and Falcon5 were the code names for Bolt and Zest respectively.
Kite hatch and Kite CS are the code for Hatchback and Sedan (notch back) versions.

Indiancatsbikes.in says that Tata is using the previous generation Hyundai i10 as a benchmark product for the development of the new car. What does this means :help:

When you benchmark a vehicle of a higher category that mean you have set your goals higher. The KITE twins are slated to compete against the CELERIO. So you will have quality of a vehicle in a higher segment that once competed the SWIFT.

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

Playing catch up with an older version of a competitor i10 (not grand i10) seems silly
The Indica V2 was spacious, comfortable for passengers ,reliable and very economical.
I am not sure replacements targeted at the Celerio or i10 will earn TML too many dividends.

I think they must have benchmarked 1st gen i10 because of its awesome fit n finish levels. If Tata can achieve that it shall be work well done, IMO. Hyundai cars are in a league of their own when it comes to interior fit n finish.

Still fresh in my memories are Zest/bolt showcased on Feb 3 2014 which was the starting of something special for TML.. [:D]

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

The person who had rendered it, has lifted the whole old gen i20's rear and done some changes here and there. But it looks leagues ahead from anything in this side on 5 Lakh Hatch. Hope, in reality it will be something close to this.
As I already said, this truely will turn Tata's fortune.
My advise- Keep producing Indica/Indigo only for commercial market. These cars should be brilliant family packages.
