Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

Just one question, if Kite is going to replace Indica, Bolt fits into which segment ? [confused]
Why didn't people ask the same question to Hyundai when it launched i10, grand i10, i20, Elite grand i20???

Is Tata Motors looking so down!?!?!

Bolt is a premium hatch and Kite is an economical for more masses. As simple as that.
Zest is premium CS and Kite notch is economical CS!!!

TATA KITE spied with production taillights:

Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Kuldeep Bhosale, spotted the Tata Kite hatchback test near the company’s facility in Pimpri, Maharashtra. Compared to other spyshots, the test mule here appears the most production ready thanks to the bumper, rear spoiler and most importantly the taillights.

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

Kite seems to be a reworked Indica, and would be positioned between the Nano which would be moved upmarket with a comprehensive update and the Bolt .
The 1.2-litre four-cylinder Revotron turbocharged petrol engine which debuted int the Zest and Bolt emerges to be the top candidate to propel Tata’s new small car however, the motor is most likely to be detuned to suit the smaller package, perhaps it may eschew its turbo.

Of course, there will be a diesel version too and it would be a brand new mill. Tata had showcased a 1.05-litre three-cylinder DICOR diesel engine at the 2012 Auto Expo. The oil burner, with 65 PS and 130 Nm of torque on tap, would be an ideal choice for the small car.
While a 5-speed manual transmission is a given, an AMT in the diesel variant could be in the offing too.
The car could be ready to launch sometime in the later part of 2015.

Frankly, I feel, this is the most Important launch for TATA after Zest. Zest and Bolt both would give average combined sales of max 6000/ Month. But this hatch has the potential to do above 5000/month by itself.

If Bolt starts at 4-4.25L ex showroom, then hope this will start at ~3.6L
This will be a serious threat for Grand i10

If it has Zest/Bolt like interior quality and exterior fit and finish, then it will be a great proposition..!!
I wonder where Tata will position Kite sedan. Yes I know it will replace Indigo eCS. But the pricing will become too close among Kite/Kite sedan/Bolt/Zest.

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

The production ready tail lights seen in the spy pictures look great. The bulging design, body bulges between the rear door handle and the tail light gives it a bigger cars character. Also the rear Portion of the car looks more contemporary and modern. It's gives a clue appearing more like the NISSAN MICRA.

What is more interesting is the front end which appears to have the grill design of the MEGAPIXEL. Headlights seem to be secured at the ends of the grill which is broad and extends the entire width of the front face. A broad smiling face.

And one more commendable job is that, unlike ZEST and BOLT, it has absolutely no resemblance to the INDICA, including the sides, the windows and the roof too!

Tata Kite is not a completely true compact sedan it's an compact notch back body style so personally feel that both zest and Kite cs will carry different characteristics and different body style

I'm really waiting to see the new diesel mill they have specifically designed for this car. The liter engine would be something worthwhile from TATA. slowly they are Re-imaging the Company which is good. KUDOS to TATA

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

The car is looking good. What may be the expected price range?. Why the name kite though, kite is something very light, cheap, loose controls ('manja', thread breaks)at higher speeds (of wind flow), ruptures easily if struck with any object![lol]
