Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

good to see tata again in the mindset to do some serious business and in the correct path of taking the competitors in one hand, I think our national car maker can give each and every foreign car company sleepless nights if tata bring new products every year consistently for four to five years.

What is the use of good products if the customers don't trust them. They are still building products but not trying to build the brand.

So it has now started testing rigorously.

In product business, I think the product design and quality carries everything, tata's are are good in indian customers design perception, only the quality of their engineering parts needs attention and some marketing (bring new products fast) for a period of 4-5 years will definitely bring them into business and from that launchpad they can do brand building advertisements. Tata's must bring in the best motivated head in their circle. We have so many peoples loving and trusting tata car brand building will never be hard.

The design may be based on Bolt, we can expect it to be mini Bolt. Suddenly Tata on the roll.

Powering the Tata Kite will be Tata’s all-new 1.05-litre three- cylinder common-rail diesel motor that was showcased way back in Auto Expo 2012, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The new diesel motor is expected to churn out 64.1bhp and 14.27kgm of torque. Euro IV ready, expect this new engine to do duty on more Tata offerings in the future.
In addition to the diesel motor, the Kick will also get an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine. Expect CNG and LPG variants in the future, as well as an AMT-equipped variant.
With the Tata Kite, the manufacturer will eventually replace the original Indica hatchback. What’s more, work on a new sub-four-metre notchback, expected to succeed the Tata Indigo eCS, has also started

Tata Kite Sedan will be a sub-four-metre notchback!

Looks like TATA MOTORS want to play a different ball game with every new launch. Every car they launch wants to look different. So they have planned a NOTCHBACK instead of a sedan for the upcoming 2015 KITE sedan version. What a lovely thought.

For all the TAIgers here who do not know what's a NOTCHBACK, it's a 5 doors Sedan where the rear door opens into the cabin, just like the SKODA OCTAVIA-LAURA.

With less constraints on design, new engines the new Tata Kite is expected to be another step in Tata’s new innings after the Bolt and the Zest.

The Diesel will be a Cylinder chopped version of the old, popular and reliable workhorse 1405cc CR4 engine, a 3 Cylinder 1050cc engine with a balancer shaft to compensate for the loss of a cylinder. The

The petrol engine is expected to be a 1.2L engine, but I expect it to be the all Aluminium 3 cylinder one without turbocharger.

Re: Tata Kite Sedan will be a sub-four-metre notchback!

What is so different here? Mahindra launched the Vibe as a notchback and hence not a new concept to the Indian Market [:)]
Calling the VERITO a notchback will be hilarious. A true notchback should have the rear glass as an integral part of the door and should open into the cabin. This is a pseudo notchback. The rear small door cannot be classified and one has to Bend to reach the cabinet.

The notchback will be different as sub 4 meter sedan, no matter how well designed, it always looks out of proportion and awkward. The notchback will be pleasing to look at. Look at the Hyundai Accent Vivo, also a notchback. It gives you a youthful look compared to the sedan, a car loved by many. The orange car looked heart pulsating then. Something on that lines will be surely desirable.

More deatils of Kite, refer this link, http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...loping-new-hatchback-kite-replace-indica.html
Indians definitely donot want any car maker making or copying an ugly design of Vibe [lol]
I hate that car and its fat ugly taillamps and ultra small boot. Its back reminds of that hilly monkeys with large red backs [;)]

BTW, good to see Kite in action. But as far with all these pictures and the video, i still can't come to any sorta conclusion about its design language, shape, head and tail lamps...

PPL, are saying that this will replace the existing Indica. Does that mean, TML discontinues Indica once this is launched?
