Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Dolphin) To Replace Indica

A re-skinned Indica ?? How good a plan is this ??[surprise]
Taking the platform is ok. But this may not work..!!
i hope that this reskinned indica will look great in design because tata already proved with TATA Bolt how well they managed to differenciate both vista and bolt [:D] in the same way TATA will do with indica v2 and upcomming xo hatchback and sedan

i think kite is a code name of X0 based Campact sedan replacement of indigo cs and dolphin is a code name of x0 based hatchback replacement of indica v2

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

The speed of TMLs launches seems to be hurting them-we have been hearing of the kite/dolphin/?maybe "blue elephant"[;)] for soo long-now its late 2015! By this time we will have new models from the rest of the party and then TML will delay the launch and start new bird names [:)]

TML should not discard the three work horses the Sumo, Movus, Indica and Indigo, but plan to shift them the commercial vehicle showroom but 2015 as this will keep away taxi buyers. Also service of these cars should commercial vehicle service centers.

Well said Taurean Czar. Just out of curiosity I want to know are the showrooms of Tatas differentiated based on Commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles? If so, for how long this has been? and why is TML not differentiating the servicing of Yellow boards from white boards to commercial and passenger service centers? It should not be tough at all for a company like TML.

Hey! I'm surprised you don't know that TATA MOTORS has separated showroom from both commercial and passenger vehicles in urban areas. Infact they also planned to open separate showrooms for UVs too. In Hyderabad Concord, MALIK Car & Detroit motors deal with passenger vehicles and Jasper and another showroom deal with commercial passenger vehicles.

I'm sure you'll know it if you give a detail look in your city too.

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

@boltfromtheblue,

TATA has different dealerships fro commercial vehicles. I falls under CV department of TATA motors. Here they sell vehicles like Ace Zip, Ace, Xenon single cab, 407 to busses and trucks.

The one you are talking about yellow boards are not commercial vehicle by definition. AND lets not forget, some people register their cars as yellow boards, and use it for personal transport. I've seen many such cars. I dont understand the logic behind that (how much of a financial benefit there is).

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

Tata has gear up to revive its all model. Its Kite or Dolphin, first they need to ensure that upcoming twins Zest and Bolt (Falcon 4/5) need to compete the cars like Polo, Swift, i10Grande, for Bolt. Zest is entering to most demanded segment and face the tight space between Dzire, Amaze & Xcent.

Hoping that Tata some how gain the market share which it used to be earlier. Mahindra still ahead from them in UV range only.

Tata need to achieve the benchmark quality.

Exclusive – Tata Motors begins testing the 2015 Kite hatchback

Tata Motors is working on a new hatchback, dubbed the Kite, which will sit in between the Nano and the Indica, as a rival to the likes of the Maruti Alto, Datsun Go and the Hyundai Eon. Tata Motors has just begun testing the Kite hatchback on Indian roads and here’s is the first ever spyshot of this car, spotted just outside Tata Motors’ Pimpri factory.

From the looks of it, the car doesn’t seem like the tall-boy hatchback that it was anticipated to be. Rather, the Kite seems to be as tall as say, the Indica Vista and definitely shorter than the Nano, which is Tata Motors’ only tallboy hatchback to date. *We’ve uploaded a reference image with a street vendor to depict the car’s height. In terms of its footprint, the Kite hatchback size seems pegged between the Nano and the Vista.

The Kite will make an official debut in 2015, and is expected to be available with turbo petrol and turbo diesel engine options. Tata Motors could also use its recently unveiled F-TRONIC automated manual transmission on the Kite hatchback as the Maruti Alto K10 will go AMT next year. Since Tata Motors has ushered in turbo petrol engines on the likes of the Bolt and the Zest, a downsized turbo petrol motor could make it to the Kite’s engine bay as well.

The Kite is an important product for Tata Motors, even as the automaker is working on turning around its fortunes in the Indian car market. The Kite is expected to give Tata Motors a breather at Sanand, with the new hatchback utilizing some of the huge unused capacity that was originally meant for the Nano. The Sanand factory, which is configured to produced 250,000 Nanos a year, is barely doing 10 % of that number.

The Kite is a part of Tata Motors’ HORIZONEXT startegy, which involves all new products that are sharply styled and that come with high quality levels. Since the Kite’s starting price is expected to be pegged at about the 3 lakh rupee mark, the car is a big volume offering that could change Tata Motors’ fortunes in India quite dramatically. Keep an eye on this space as we dig out more details on the Kite.
