Re: Tata Motors Working on a New Premium Hatchback!

I have got some Idea to develop a new SUV. With JLR on it's rescue, TATA should borrow the older gen Discovery Chassis and body frame only. The engineers at TML should have a task to design new body panels for an all new design and dash board with the interiors including new seats designs should be incorporated along with plonking the 2.2 Varicor engine developing about 160 BHP for this new Gen Safari.

I think this is a very cost effective method and can put the New Safari on road in a record one year or a half more.

Coming to the Indica, Have you all noticed the new Indica. Though it is an old deisgn, the car looks outstanding and new when looked at it head on. But coming to the rear it look out of place. Even if TML plans to have the indica for a few more years, I think they should change the dashboard and the rear and I think that should prolong the life of the car for some more time. I am tired of seeing the old dash for too long and need a new one.

XO is based on the Vista platform. The use of Indica platform is also in the news as Tata official told that there is still potential in the Indica platform.. [:)]

I think Vista platform code was X1 not a X0

according to some web source

>X0- is refurbished indica platform

>x1-platform that underpins vista/manza.

>X2-platform that underpins ARIA/Storme

Re: Tata Motors Working on a New Premium Hatchback!

I too think that X0 is the refurnished Indica V2 platform. But the scoop pics and the renderings that have come out on the web has somewhat confused me,cause the car in question(Dolphin) looks pretty much like overgrown megapixel. So could this new car be an derivative of the stretched Nano platform? Lets see...

[clap][clap][clap]
Motorbeam has carried out a rendering of Tata's new hatchback X0:

Now the pics:
i think there is a confusion accured between X0 and dophin projects in auto news media

X0 code name project announced few months back it is based on refurbished indica v2(more then 70% design change in body-in-white) platform and power comes from 1.05DICOR diesel and 1.2L Turbo charged petrol engine and the car will be positioned between indica v2 and vista gap.

And comming to dolphin project this was accounced one year back i think so this is based on X1 platform tollboy desing like santro power comes from 3cylinder 800cc petrol engine.

i think tata planning these two cars

Tata Dolphin (Codename X451) To Replace Indica.

Tata-X0-Hatchback-Car-2013-2014-Price-in-Karachi-Lahore-Pakistan.jpg

tata-xo-hatchback-render.jpg

we were the first to reveal accurate renderings of the tata dolphin which is an all new hatchback set to sit between the nano and the vista. The pictures you see here is how tata motors’ upcoming dolphin is going to look, almost exactly. Yes, tata motors has got the styling spot on, the dolphin looks very attractive and should sell very well when it goes on sale next year. The company has underpinned the car with a new x0 platform which is also known as amp (advanced modular platform). This is an all new platform from the india’s largest automaker.
What is hurting tata motors the most is the taxi image. The company has been selling lots of cars to fleet operators, mainly the indica and indigo. The indica is 16 years old now and has aged quite a lot. The good news is, tata motors will finally give a rest to the indica, which will be gradually phased out. The tata dolphin will fill in the shoes of the highly popular indica. The company has codenamed the car x451 which will be manufactured at tata motors’ sanand facility, the same factory which churns out the nano and is lying very idle due to dismal sales of the world’s most affordable car.
The tata dolphin will be offered in both petrol and diesel avatars. The diesel engine will be a new 1.05 dicor unit which is a 3-cylinder mill offering around 60 bhp of power. The petrol motor will be an all new turbocharged unit (likely to be a 3-cylinder version of the 1.2-litre revotron motor with a capacity of 900cc). The vehicle will be priced from rs. 4 lakhs onwards with top trims being very loaded with features.
With the dolphin, tata motors is hoping to get rid of the taxi image as it looks at boosting sales amongst private car buyers. The new vista has been named as the bolt which is now the company’s flagship hatchback. This makes it convenient for tata motors to re-align its portfolio which will continue to start from the nano. The prototype of the dolphin is under development currently and testing will commence by june 2014. The tata dolphin has been designed by tmetc (tata motors european technical centre) and inputs from jaguar land rover engineers is being solicited. Expect the car to give tough competition to established rivals.

Re: SCOOP – Tata Dolphin(Codename-X451) Hatchback To Replace Indica:

Looks like a Chevy Beat to me!I don't think TATA is going to make something remotely similar to BEAT,that will give them a real BEATING by market.

Looks like a mix of the Beat and the Bolt.
Of course Tata is not going to launch this.

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Dolphin) To Replace Indica

I feel this could be pitted against Celerio. Bolt is one segment above Celerio. Well they may not design it so close to BEAT however, will make some changes and will have designs taken/ inspired by Bolt.

Tata Motors’ Indica eV2 Replacement is “Kite”

Tata Motors’ Indica eV2 replacement “Kite” small car to debut in 2015.

With a flurry of new entrants in the Indian small car market, the Indica – in its second generation – is looking increasingly dated and in need of a replacement. A replacement will come next year and will be built at Sanand, the factory that is currently configured to build the world’s least priced car, the Tata Nano.
The new hatchback that Tata Motors is developing to replace the Indica eV2 is code-named the Kite. This platform will also play host to a compact sedan, which will replace the Indigo eCS. Both the Kite hatchback and the compact sedan car models will be launched next year. Since the Kite compact sedan will share most parts with its hatchback sibling, the compact sedan will also be built at Sanand.
Expect the Kite hatchback and compact sedan to feature petrol and turbo diesel engines. The 1.05 liter-3 cylinder turbo diesel (65 Bhp-140 Nm) motor that Tata Motors showcased in the Manza Hybrid is a possible engine option for the new hatchback and compact sedan. Expect a turbo petrol motor and automated manual transmission technology (AMT) to play a prominent role in the upcoming Kite range of cars.
From 2015, Tata will make a new small car at Sanand to replace the Indica eV2, which is over a decade old in design. Priced at R3-4 lakh, this car will compete with models like the Maruti WagonR

Tata Motors’ new X0 platform hatchback to roll out of Sanand next year:

Tata Motors is planning to build what it calls a ‘high-volume’ product on the X0 platform, which refers to the Indica platform.

Just like how the upcoming Tata Bolt is a reskinned Vista with new technology, the new car, developed in a similar fashion, will replace the Indica eV2, says the company’s representative quoted by a report on the Financial Express. The car will be priced between Rs 3-4 lakh and will compete against the likes of the Maruti Wagon R, says the same executive.

2013-Tata-Indica-eV2-rear-three-quarter-view.jpg
The new sub-Bolt model would be a revitalized Tata Indica eV2.

This New Tata Hatchback will be powered by All New 3cylinder 800cc Revotron motor or A Newly devloped 1.2 liter ‘revvotron’ turbo petrol engine barrowed from TATA BOLT that churns out 80 bhp and 140 Nm of peak torque. The diesel mill will be a 1.05L Dicor motor, that has maximum power of 65 bhp and 165 Nm of torque

This new car would be manufactured in Tata Motors’ Sanand plant from 2015, where production of the Tata Nano is marching along at a terribly slow pace. The plant, set up to manufacture 20,000 units a month, right now only rolls out 1,000-2,000 units each month. To make this plant financially viable, the production of the X0 based car will be out of here, says the report.

Plans for production of the Tata Bolt are being changed, says the report. The production that was supposed to take place at the Ranjangaon plant – which Tata shares with Fiat – has been shifted to Tata’s own plant near Pune. This, apart from making it easier for Tata in terms of controlling the production, also makes it cheaper as it does not have to pay Fiat to use the Ranjangaon facilities, cites the report.
