Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

The brand image tata is currently having is because of the quality issues their earlier models had. It used to be like if you go on a road trip and find a breakdown vehicle it will be mostly a tata. The new generation cars might be much advanced and possessing a much better quality, but due to their bitter past it will take time for changing the perception in mind of majority of people towards Tata cars. It is quite obvious, and nothing unusual in it. I really hope kite will be the game changer for Tata in the coming years, which zest and bolt couldn't do in the recent past.

Re: Tata Developing New Hatchback (Kite) To Replace Indica

Cars like Alto 800 and K10, Eon, Kwid will certainly be affected. Will KITE come in a diesel version too? Just like AMT in Alto, will KITE also get an AMT?

Regards

Akash
As per the shifting gear article- 'Tata Kite is likely to include a new 1.05-litre three-cylinder common-rail diesel motor that can churn out 64.1bhp and 140Nm of torque and an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Kite is speculated to get an e-clutch system similar to AMT that allows drivers to use manual transmission for the first gear without using the clutch.'

Even the same people think that Maruti is Gods own Car and buy it like crazy just for resale & service. Cant those people think of to buy the car for driving comfort and how safe the car is ?
The problem with us Indians is we are too much brand driven rather than product driven. Our perception is whatever is foreign made is awesome even if its twice as expensive in price as its India counterpart. And this isn't just in cars but in any given product.
Thankfully, Mahindra has changed this perception to an extent with their Scorpio and Xuv500. Hopefully, Tata will achieve success with its Kite hatchback and sedan.

some times it goes over your head, people saying that nearly 95% of people are purchasing wrong products. they should purchase tata product. i think its wrong. i see kite also selling near zest volumes once its launched.

Add TUV3oo to that list also,
I am also hoping Kite flies from showrooms after launch and bring in the numbers that Tata is desperately pleading. I hope Tata haven't included any component/part of existing cars especially in areas visible to prospective customers. This should be an all new product and ot should not share a bit from other Tata's, if this turns out to be true, expect people to show interest on this one. The Baleno is so different from Swift and is attracting huge customers, Tata should do the same with Kite.

Regarding brand perception, it's very hard to convince one regarding how good a product is despite the brand not having image. Take for example the Bolt, it is a well packaged car but at that similar price point you have Polo, i20, Baleno etc which are different, unique and then suddenly the Bolt loses to them. Although the Kite is promising, it's final verdict will be known after its unveiling next month.

This is my rendering of the Kite hatchback based on the sketch teased by Tata motors.
Looks really good and hope it looks even better in real.
I am really confused how the bumper design would apear in real world after observing the sharp shape of bonnet amd then appearance of grill.

Hope the design would blow the competition. Am being a prospective owner and looking forward to buy the first piece of this brand from Tata if everything goes as plans:)

You are right Nishant about the brand perception that it is hard for TML to convince the customers. The Bolt pricing was disastrous but still when you compare with Polo, i20 and Baleno it is still cheaper by say a good 1-1.5Lacs and comes with almost all the features.

i think the length of the car is pretty less than Bolt and would lock horns with grand I10 as cheaper option or may be most feature loaded amd VFM in the segment.

So it reveals its name. Hatch is called the Zica
https://twitter.com/ZicaTataMotors/with_replies

Tatas had registered name Zica and Sway, Glade and Boom some time back. So now we have the Zica (Zest + indICA) and then we may have Sway/Glade/Boom to be named as the Sedan. Out of the 3 names, Sway seems to be most suitable of the 3.

Seems Tata have stuck to 4 letter names Zest, Bolt, Hexa, Zica for thier new cars. Safari being the odd man out.

Numerology has struck them too, like the O from Mahindra. [:D]

Might be the next gen Safari's name will be changed.

The names are good. But still, I prefer the name KITE for Hatchback and GLADE for Sedan.
