Well not this month atleast. Again sold 8617 vehicles in May 2016. Cars were 7787. Which means tiago should be atmost around 3000 units.
Yes. The May'16 despatch numbers for Tata Motors are shockingly low. Out of the 7787 units of Cars, Hatchback sales were 5643 units. Which means Zest + Indigo sales were just 2144 units. Out of the 5643 hatchback despatches, Nano were 906 units. Bolt + Indica despatches will most probably be under 1000 units. That means Tiago numbers could be in the region of 3800 to 4200 units for May'16.

Surprisingly the Production numbers for May'16 were 5441 Cars, compared to despatches of 7787 units. Same is the case with UV production. In most probability the company undertook a Production Shut down at it's Pune facility, possibly to make changes to include a new model into the assembly line. I am estimating that the Hexa could be introduced very soon into the market, maybe within 2-3 months time.

I took delivery of my XZ Petrol White (Mfg. MAY 2016). here are the first impressions of first 200 Kms drive:

Pros:
1. Super cool AC
2. Fantastico Music system
3. Nice tyres
4. Excellent suspensions
5. Engine refinement good around 2K rpm\
6. Excellent steering and light clutch
7. Nice slick gear [initially i took time to adjust... after it was smooth]

Cons:
1. Gear lever vibrations were prominent at idle and low RPMs [of about 1 k - 1.8-9 k] [it was refined about 2K and more, i didnot go beyond 2.7-8 k] --> I request some of the buyer to confirm this. I am not sure if this will improve after 2000 kms or so. Inputs are welcome !!!
I worried because i did not feel the same in the TD vehicle [might have rum about 1.5k]. TD one was very good - hoping mine to be refined after some kms on ODO.

2. I could feel some vibes at steering as well around low RPMs [of about 1 k - 1.8-9 k]
3. Car felt bit lazy to move [especially in first / second gear [second was a bit better than first]]

MAJOR point of happiness --> in this initial ride [40% city / 60% highway and mix of city/Ecco modes] it returned average of about 20.5 [on screen] with AC on all the time :)

Please do let me know your views.

I got call from dealer that my vehicle is in transit, will get it in next 3-5 days [clap] surely May 2016 made. Eagerly waiting for it.

Looking at the above review, I am bit concerned about vibrations, but hopefully it would not be a big matter after a couple of services.

I will give ownership review after some 500 km. Meantime, waiting for delivery

Can anybody quote the insurance amount you paid for XZ petrol variant? Tata dealer in pune is quoting 20,000/- for zero dep, Owner Driver, Passenger and Paid Driver insurance from new india assurance company. The IDV is 95% of the ex showroom price.

Is this a reasonable amount to pay for this car? How much did the other owners pay?

It is sunburst orange XT petrol, booked on April 25

Had to be frequently after them to get it. I feel they are allotting cars on their choice, not on date priority. I think bookings were 2-3 times more than the production. It is 12 weeks waiting period now.

I had same vibes felt in initial days. Now after 1500 kms most vibrations are gone. Only when in eco mode with AC on and idling some vibrations are felt.
During my 3 tankfull I have observed that fuel economy shown on MID is higher by 2kmpl than actual.

What fuel economy did you achieve in city drive and highways?
What is your insurance quote from dealer for XZ petrol variant?

Hi, ppl I have doubt is it raining Tiago in chennai, from last 4 days where ever I go I see Tiago so many new tiagos .
100 tiagos have been delivered, so wherever you go, you have to spot a tiago

May16 will be a disappointing run for tiago but where are those 15k booking mades?dispatches not done to the dealers. If not June, then critics will be ready for hit the keyboards hard which will impact Kite5 too

Yesterday I joined TAI-ger Prabhagar ji for a test drive of the Petrol Tiago till their yard, which is around 10kms from the showroom. It was peak afternoon heat. The car had already 5000kms on the odo.
This is the first time I drove the Tiago for a satisfyingly longer time and distance. So here is my review:
The SA brought the car after fuelling up and we set off. Prabhagar ji drove the car towards the yard and I was in the front passenger seat. I almost felt like travelling in a Premium hatchback with the subtly comfortable ride, very low NVH and fantabulous audio system.
Prabha ji wanted to choose a color for his booking and so he wanted to see the cars in sunlight. He became even more confused between the Orange and Blue colors as both impressed him.

While returning to the showroom, I took control of the wheel. I am thoroughly impressed. There were extremely nil vibrations. All those vibrations when I experienced when the car was new had vanished. The gear-lever was vibe-free and no rattle from any part as well. There were a bit of vibrations on the pedals though, but not very noticable unless you are keen. True, the interiors weren't as well maintained and were very much abused by the customers, but still, nothing had come off or rattled. Everything was as high-quality as I had seen the car for the first time.
I started to accelelrate and it was absolutely smooth to rev. On moderately free roads, I happened to reach speeds of 70kmph and it was easy to reach there as well. There is no hesitation at all from the Revotron unit, despite being a 3 cylinder unit. Even at 3500 rpm, It didn't feel exessively loud or coarse. It was a soothing growl. So, this clears the NVH doubts. The Tiago, just like any other 3 cylinder car, smoothens out after a few thousand kms on the odo.
The AC was effective enough, but took few minutes to cool the cabin completely. It wasn't as bad as the complaints mentioned. All cars take similar time to cool in such sweltering weather.

Special mention must be made of the Steering and control stalks. I am completely in love with this steering setup as it is light, but at the same time, not as toy-like as on Hyundai cars. It had the right amount of feedback and amazing control. As the speeds build up, the car becomes fun to drive. There is very very NIL amount of vagueness around the centre ahead position. Beautifully calibrated steering system by Tata! All the control stalks felt of high quality and I felt immediately at ease with the car. Everything is ergonomically placed and easy to operate. I felt like I could drive the car all the way to Chennai and back again in one day, without fatigue.
I am completely impressed by the Tiago Petrol. Hats off to Tata Motors for creating this absolutely fantastico car with global quality levels. I only wish that the TD cars were a bit better maintained regarding interior cleanliness.
People thinking of going for Tiago, definitely go for it. It is just too impressive. Loved it.
Don't worry about NVH issues; it gets smoothened out after a couple thousand kms on the odo.

Next time, I will try to test drive the diesel Tiago and post my drive review.

Other Points:
1. Deliveries in Tamil Nadu will probably begin on 15th May onwards. Reason for the delay was due to RTO approval.
2. No news on Red color yet.
3. Apporximately 120 bookings garnered for Tiago from the SRT showroom only.

The second lot of Tiagos had just arrived. Some pics to feast the eyes upon:
DJ Bro,
I've booked Tiago XZ petrol variant on 9th May. No update on the delivery date though from dealer or even Tata Motors. Since it is my 3rd post, I cannot send you a PM. Can you please add me to your whatsapp group? Thanks!

I am not too worried about that. Tata Motors clearly underestimated the potential demand for their new baby. But they will keep ramping up the production in coming months. About 3000 Tiagos were despatched during April'16. The number is expected to be closer to 4000 for May'16. Now with 2nd shift of production already started, the despatches number to go past the 5000 units mark for June'16. I would prefer a steady ramp up instead of any hasty one. It is important for the company to ensure that each Tiago delivered is of good quality. No compromises there.

I bought from Royal Sundaram for 16.5K with below features (XZ Petrol):
- Zero Dep (Unlimited claims)
- 100% IDV of Ex Showroom price
- Engine Cover
- Key Replacement
- Zero Voluntary Deductible (There will be a mandatory 1K deductible for any claim)

Didn't add passenger insurance though. They have cashless claims with my dealership and the quote was way too reasonable compared to 23K asked by my dealer.

Congrats Jigar! I also took delivery of Orange XZ Petrol this morning. While I cannot comment on gear stick vibrations (I drive an M800 [:D]), the engine laziness at 1st & 2nd was obvious during my drive home with 3 adults on board. I intend to limit 2.5-3K revs during first 1000 KMs so didn't rev more than that. The TD car did not have this issue when I drove it twice at its 2.5KM and at 5KM. Hopefully this improves as the ODO goes up.

That is an awesome deal. My dealer is forcing me to buy the insurance from him and he just has 1 option new india insurance. I sometimes wonder whether he wants to sell the car or insurance policy.

Congrats Prabhagar on your new Tiago. Orange and red are good colors for this car.
