What fuel economy did you achieve in city drive and highways?
What is your insurance quote from dealer for XZ petrol variant?
First tankfull was at 12.5 second at 13.5 and third at 17. Third fill had some highway running too. All with 100% AC in Ahmedabad heat.
I got a quote of 18,300 from Tata AIG but unfortunately Dealer forced me to buy insurance from him so it costed me 23,700. This was Active Automobiles in Ahmedabad. Very rude and unprofessional management. Will advise Taigers to avoid this dealership any day.

Thanks.

I also took delivery of Orange XZ Petrol this morning.
Congrats! I too took delivery of an Orange XZ Petrol on Jun 1st.

My dealer is forcing me to buy the insurance from him and he just has 1 option new india insurance. I sometimes wonder whether he wants to sell the car or insurance policy.
Dealers basically make money on accessories, RTO and insurance. So yes they are bound to insist on buying insurance from them. But they cannot force. All you need to do is get the insurance papers issued (normally the preliminary email copy) in order to submit to the RTO for registration.

I got insurance from my car loan company (HDFC) @ 16,100/- for zero dep. I also had a quote from Royal Sundaram for 15,100 /- for zero dep insurance. This is for XZ Petrol with IDV of roughly 95% of showroom price.

Hi, if quotes for insurance are roughly 15-16k then why dealers are putting 22k around value in cost sheet? Are they putting max amount of inusrance company? I am from Pune so there wont be much taxes involved in compared to the costs you have got.

In pune, the typical insurance quote from dealers for XZ petrol variant is 20K to 23K. As pal2ie rightly pointed out, its just a way of squeezing extra money from the buyers due to supply demand mismatch. The same dealers will not force you to buy insurance policy from them if you go for zest or bolt. Its a classic case of supply-demand, where some people end up taking advantage of the situation.

Hello all,
Congratulations to all the current owners and to-be owners of the Tata Tiago.
I took delivery of my Surburst Orange XZ Diesel on 28th of May 2016. I had booked it on 03rd April 2016 even before the official launch and price announcement.

The dealer is TAFE REACH in Erode, Tamilnadu.
Dealership experience was good actually. They allowed me to purchase insurance from outside.
That helped me save a cool Rs.10000/- [:D]

Didn't get much chance to drive it as I haven't got the RC book yet. Will start driving from this weekend and post the ownership experience soon.

Hi pal2ie,
Can you please share the contact of your insurance agent, so that i can buy the insurance policy from them instead of the dealer?

Thanks in advance.

You can buy it online, but i noticed that not all websites have tiago listed. I'm now relying on folks in this forum to get some contacts @ insurance agents to buy it.

One of my friend had bought Royal Sundaram for his Dzire and he was very happy for it so just now i enquired it online and instantly i got call from them. IDV is 95% and for Pune they told me about Rs. 15,500 B2B-Zero Dep insurance. In my dealer's quotation its around Rs. 22000. Now, I have to check with my dealer if they can allow me to buy online.

Any suggestions guys?

Dealer has no say in your registration and insurance. It's always your choice to get it done from them or yourself.

The dealer cannot force you, if he does, you can take help from TATA folks (twitter, fb). The tricky part in not buying it from dealer is 'cashless' transaction. If the insurance guys do not have a cashless tie up with your dealer, it gives your dealer a chance to trouble you when you go for repairs.
