The dealer cannot force you, if he does, you can take help from TATA folks (twitter, fb). The tricky part in not buying it from dealer is 'cashless' transaction. If the insurance guys do not have a cashless tie up with your dealer, it gives your dealer a chance to trouble you when you go for repairs.
Thanks.. Will speak to my RM. Btw hows Royal Sundaram, it looks VFM from the proposal that they sent me.

Best, KP

Royal Sundaram is pretty good according to my experience. Our two marutis have always been insured by it. Inspection visits after accidents were prompt with good claim settlements. Many people also swear by Lombard although I havent had any experience with it.

If your monthly run is at least 1200-1500 Km then only you should go for diesel or otherwise petrol is better option.

Avg of petrol and diesel would be 18kmpl aur 24 kmpl roughly.

Can you try doing a mileage run at 90-100kmph in ECO mode and AC on to get a definitive answer on what this car is capable of?

To all Berry Red fans, here are some videos of it during our (I and DJ Bro) visit to our dealership @ Coimbatore last week.

Thanks Prabhagar for sharing this video. I have been following Tiago since long and planning to book one (this would be my first car :) ). But really confused which colour to choose and wanted to have a look at berry red - but showroom car looks different than the stockyard car. Which one is more close ?

Day 1 update: 571 kms covered

@Gajraj
It's diesel and all the info, observations etc will be shared in the coming review.

@ksdr
It consists all, hard driving, city, highways and dual carriageways. Eco mode is slightly different and few will be able to notice it more or less. Eco mode was engaged only for around 75 kms, rest all in city mode. I am targeting 30 kpl for tomorrow as I am quite confident that Tiago Diesel can get 30+ with single occupant, no AC, Eco mode and 1500-1750 rpm in fifth cog with coasting done when needed.

Hi pal2ie,
Can you please share the contact of your insurance agent, so that i can buy the insurance policy from them instead of the dealer?

Thanks in advance.

You can buy it online, but i noticed that not all websites have tiago listed. I'm now relying on folks in this forum to get some contacts @ insurance agents to buy it.
Royal Sundaram sales team in Chennai: 044-7117 7117 (I was dealing with Janani) Or toll number 1860 425 0000
Sorry for delay. I could not check the forum for the last 2 days.
