Tata's New Hatchback Zica Now Renamed Tiago

Got these from my SA who claims this happened in a hill station (Ooty, Tamil Nadu) at 60 ish KMPH. Appears to have hit a pole. Unfortunate for a brand new car to go through this.

I am very happy looking at the pictures.

I don't mean to enjoy the accident the poor owner went through. Hope he is hail and healthy. But looking at the head on collision with a pole, firstly the engine bay has moved in, but the composition is well maintained. The driver did not seem to apply breaks, that means he has hit with quite an impact. The basic cage of the car has not lost its composition. There is not a slight bend to the A pillar and the roof has no visible bend.

That shows that TATA has made the TIAGO quite a safe car that will meet the stringent safety norms. Hope we see a crash test at EURONCAP soon. I'm sure non-airbag version will score 2 stars.

Not that I am enjoy seeing such horrific accident pics, but it really makes me quite happy this time, knowing that Tiago is such a safer car. Look at the unscathed dashboard, Tiago body structure hasnt allowed even little bit of crash impact inside the cabin. I am sure the passengers came out safe during this accident, especially having the airbags went blown at right time.
Tiago is much safer than any other car in this segment and may be one above.

The structural stability seems good but a member on another forum saw a fault in this.

How come the windshield got broken ? The glass has a circular type of damage.

Yes, the passenger side airbag opener has created the windshield damage. I think the Tiago windshield has taken similar damage due to airbag deployment.

Passenger side air bag is quiet big and is placed pretty high on the dashboard. It may cause windshield damage during deployment.

On the crashed Tiago, Good to see the passive safety kit has worked. BUT I think it happened at a little higher speed.

I have seen crash tests of various cars but the windshield getting damaged is only visible in tata vista and the current accident of tata tiago . Is it a design flaw ?

How to check the car manufactured date by chassis no. ?

10th character of chasis number represents Year. G=2016, F=2015 and so on..
12th character represents Month. A=Jan, B=Feb and so on except "I" which is skipped in VIN number decoding (probably to avoid confusions between the number "1").

more than 20,000 booking impressive, second shift means more production, but what is the production of the plant right now because waiting period is increasing increasing, it is now 12 weeks I think.

I booked on April 25, now 5 weeks over, but no confirmation as of yet of delivery

anyone please tell what is last date of booking who got delivery?

One more incident that evidence of high quality of TATA Cars, When my friend along with family members travelling in south India, suddenly he met with big accident with trucks, first his car hit with opposite side truck right side portion, within seconds next truck hit on side, luckily in both collisions no one was hurt, they had minor first aid injury. He was very happy with this car quality if the same incident happened with any other brand he may suffered a lot.

Second shift brings smile on my face.. it has been 5 weeks now, no confirmation of delivery. I booked on April 25 (promised 4 weeks, later 6), but I don't think it is going to happen by next week

Please anyone tell what is the production capacity right now at the plant?

and what is the last date of booking who got delivery?
