My XM (RT) infotainment system is not able to read my pen drive. Everytime I connect it shows "USB Error". However, when I connect my phone through USB port, it can read the memory card of my cell phone and plays everything nicely.
Any solution for playing pen drive?

Though, I am not sure about it, check if Pen drive needs to be formatted in FAT32 format.

Head lamps are under powered!
Recently, returned from Highway trip to Chandigarh and Ludhiana and head lamps are pathetic to say the least on highways. Not bright at all. On some stretches, I was literally following a car for clarity. As soon as it was pitched dark on highway, they were fine but as soon as highway light was there, they were of no use.

I am going to Kashmere Gate this week for HID price and fix.

Hello to forum members.

This is my first post and it is for posting a serious infotainment software bug that i found in xt revetron and confirmation of engine stalling problem reported by some other users also.[sad]

Here is infotainment bug detail:

1. Connect your phone bluetooth with car and play music from phone.
2. From phone call someone, directly from phone, not from car control.
3. On car panel it will show calling.
4. Now cancel the call from panel or phone.
5. (Problem). Screen hangs. No button works. Bluetooth still connected with phone.[frustration]
6. Pull out key.
7. ( Problem). Every thing off but bluetooth still connected to phone.
8. ( Problem) Panel buttons will start working but bluetooth connection still connected.
9. ( Problem) Disconnect from phone side but still shows connected on car panel screen.
10. ( Problem) Enable disable bluetooth on car panel. Now bluetooth will not work. Search also fails.
11. ( Problem) Now you can not use bluetooth of car.
12. ( Problem) Restarting car will not help.[frustration]
13. Factory reset solves this.

And engine stalling problem:
Engine stalling in morning or may be every time engines cools down completely and when i start rpm goes high. I wait tilll it comes to normal and when i drive engine keeps on stalling randomly for first around 5 kms of drive if i slow down.
Today my dealership guy upgraded the software and said it should resolve this problem of stalling.
I will confirm in few days how its working for me.
But i request every one in forum to check with your dealership if any such update is available.
Reason why i am asking is engine stalling is safty hazrd as power steering and power brakes stop working.

Hope to hear from members.

Dont worry about the brakes. Brakes will work even if the engine is off.

BUT the EPAS, Will it work (I think it will)? Zest owners can you confirm? Will the wheels turn when the engine is off.

EPAS do not work for sure and what I meant by brakes wont work is they will loose their power by almost 70-80%.May be some one can use brake in that condition to completely stop but brakes feel so heavy or ineffective that you will feel as if they are not working.

I have experienced this with other car when I stopped the engine few meters before red light and tried to stop using brakes(power brakes). Not sure if zest has some other braking tech. Turbo boost engines have some differnet kind of breaking system?
Btw Googling power brake engine off will give plenty of answers.


About the software upgrade from TML for morning engine stalling, its working great. Since then I have not faced that problem till now. I will further update.

It does not work. So the stalling problem is there. When I argued the same with TM sales person, he told me it the new technology. I almost died laughing out loud. Then I convinced myself that all these issues will be gone after the 1st servicing.

Believe me after that software upgrade of ECU, I am feeling far more confident while driving the car. Even eco mode is giving constant power.
I double confirmed this issue with another technician at different workshop. He confirmed, this issue exists and gets fixed by upgrade.
He also said tml has plans to upgrade all cars software on first service, unless someone complains (may be a lot).
But I would say, to every one, if you have time and energy, go get your ECU updated of revetron engine, before first service.

Is this update for only Revotron engines or also for Quadrajet?

Workshop technician informed me its only for revetron and only some revetron owners reported it.

Dear Zest owners,
I have completed 1200 kms in my Zest XMS RT in a month and there are few updates to share with you all,

1) The car is very smooth to drive. Every time I lock, I look back to my car. Its a beauty. I even like smell of the car. I refilled it twice. Both the times, I filled upto auto lock. First time, I got 12.86 kmpl and next time it was 11.86 kmpl. The consumption of AC was minimum (5% can be assumed) for both times due to the winter season. I drove using Eco and City modes equally (50% use of both the modes).
Please suggest whether the mileage I am getting is fine or is it less than expectation?

2) I found two problems in my car. Both of them are quite famous now in internet. The first one is a) Mud in the engine bay and the second one is b) Engine stall during cold start. My car got switched off twice in the middle of the road. However, I am happy to announce that both the problems are now resolved by Tata Motors.

I have complained about both the issues to the regional office of Tata Motors and on 31st Jan, morning I got a call from them. I was asked to take my car to any nearby authorized service center of Tata Motors so that they can fix the problems. For the first problem, they used brackets to cover the void spaces which was responsible for the problem. The second issue was solve by updating the ECU software. The total process took 30 minutes only. I drove nearly 30 kms after the update. The problem did not came back again. Moreover, the car is much easier to drive now, even in the Eco mode.

I would like to mention here that during the entire process, the people from Tata Motors were highly cooperative and their services are highly satisfactory.

I am looking for a cheerful ownership experience of my Zest for a long time.

Good to know that TML has a solution to these problems. TML is banking a lot on Zest and Bolt, if they are not able to take care of this product then the future of TML is going to be even more worse. [thumbsdown]

Yes I got it done at Oberoi sector 1. Every one there was not aware about the issue. Then there was a guy whom we met at the time of delivery. When we discussed with him he said there is a software update for this. Do not know his name though.
Then last week I went to discuss about bluetooth problem with harman engineer at sec 63 workshop. There was another technician who confirmed it. Again do not remember his name.
