I am still not getting the hang of the a.c unit.

All the outside pollution and smell enters with the a.c ON.

The yellow circle I have highlighted is a big confusion for me. I am not sure when to use the knobs.

Can anyone help me out with those two knobs ? The one with ice crystal is for a.c but when should it be used, it is attracting all bad smells and dust.

Hi KISHORE are you feeling any difference in the engine post 1000kms? What speed did you maintain to get these excellent mileage figures?
I was driving at 80-90kmph speed as I was concerned that I was crossing the 2k rpm mark and I am still in break in period.

I don't find much difference but the issue is that the accelerator is cutting off itself and the car is not responding to my accelerator inputs. There are jerks in pick up and I am really concerned about it. I am facing this issue only with the a.c ON.

The left side arrow button is recirculation button and it should always be switched on. If you switch it off you will not get the full AC effect and the external smells will come inside. The star button is to switch on and off the AC. Regarding the jerking get it checked at Concorde motors Sanath Nagar, they should resolve it.

Tata Zest REVOTRON during the ongoing Endurance run have given 1449.9 KM for 48.5 Litres of Petrol which calculates to 29.89 KMPL.

this is a general production car. no tweaking but driven ideally. Way beeyond the ARAI figures.

This is capability of the ZEST.
I agree if the car is driven @ 1500 rpm without much gear changes it gives a good mileage I have received max 23 kmpl till now my total car running is only 2800 kms. So I am sure it will increase in future

KISHORE hope your outside smell problem is solved now. Regarding jerks in acceleration be sure to shift to next higher gear above 1800rpm. Since the vehicle ideal operating range is between 1700-2500 when you shift at 1800 rpm you will not feel the loss in power. With AC switched on if you let RPMs drop below 1700rpm there will be loss of power.

I would like to thank you very much. The outside smell issue is resolved

The jerks are not due to drop in rpm as I always have the habit of shifting gears as per the rpm.

The jerks are like the engine shuts off itself for a few seconds and then comes back to life.

Its not turbo lag as you know you are giving accelerator even in low revs. But here its not like that. You feel cut off for a few seconds and it is pretty scary especially in overtaking

This problems needs extensive diagnosis so the better take it to Concorde sanath nagar. One of the sensors either the air mass sensor or the fuel pump looks to be the suspect?

Hi
Is it true that Zest handbrake doesnt work on slopes without gear ?

I gave my car for repair to Autovikas moti nagar saying handbrake not working,

They told me in tata zest, when parking on a slope you will have to use gear + handbrake [surprise]

If its an extreme slope then its advisable to use gear+ handbrake. But there is nothing which cannot be fixed since its a cable which acts on the rear wheels. Since it needs to be lifted up and worked on they maybe unwilling to attend during working hours. Go to the workshop as soon as they open in the morning and get it fixed before they start servicing the regular cars.

I also faced the same issue when I newly purchased Zest and was not aware of hand brake setting in my car. During a trip to Bhuleshwer Temple in Pune, 4 people in the car, there is a steep single road slope where I had to stop during uphill climb because of traffic. Engine went off because of mistiming of clutch by me , i knew applying car's brake wont work now so I tried stopping car by pulling hand brake and to my surprise car was still moving backwards approaching the mountain ditch:eek:. I immediately engaged 1st gear and started the engine and pulled the car up.
Later on I got my car's hand brake tightened from service center and it became better now however I made it a habit to engage the gear always while stopping on inclines.

Is it revotron or quadrajet engine ?

I used sport mode and slipped the clutch to get the car moving from standstill on slope road when I stopped to pay toll at sanghi temple ghat section

Its the same with all petrol zests
