oh common guys, the zest is a damn good design to be used in commercial sector. I think its too early for zest to be pushed into taxi segment, with the indigo still there which can really work out if plonked a 75ps 1.3 fiat MJD under it (not that cr4 is inferior, given the Indian craze for fiat MJD). Don't know whats the market strategy for tata motors to hastily push zest to taxi market. I agree tiago and kite sedan are superb designs but that doesn't mean zest and bolt are lower in any aspects. Though the sales number are low, especially for bolt its abysmal, but that can be sorted out in many ways. Pushing bolt to taxi market will definitely kill the budding craze for bolt sports (even I crave for it) and shoo away potential customers for zest. I still remember sales personnel stating zest is only for private buyers and closed for commercial operators. The zest may not be selling like hotcakes in tierI cities, but for TierII cities it can still dominate a healthy margin if marketed strategically even this requires private only condition.
Building good brand reputation should be the current target for tata motors and this also means clearing away any leftover bad marks to their name done earlier. This mandates staying away from commercial segment for atleast now. If my recollection is right, it had been mentioned earlier in tata motors brochure that zest is placed above kite sedan (c1 segment) with a powerful engine (1.2RT I4 with Turbo vs 1.2RT I3 NA, 1.3MJD vs 1.05RQ)
so offering a premium product to commercial segment points to where?
PS: How can a dealer sell a vehicle to commercial players if the company decides not to? To this day I believed only company decides which product gets yellow plates and not the dealer. The registration process would require additional forms from the company to get a yellow plate, is it right?
