Sir i would say thats how a turbo charged vehicle bahaves, as you would notice that the turbo kicks in around 1800-3500 RPM, so for optimal performance you need to keep your vehicle in that rpm range. You should not be facing any issues of overtaking or loss of power in this band width. This is not an issue but the the characteristics of the car. Enjoy the turbo.
I understand your point regarding Turbo Lag, whereas my point was , we need to shift down and push hard to be in high rev range and I loose driving pleasure .This is not the case was Maruti Cars, even in 4th gear if you start push hard car picks up. Anyway except this (couple of other issue) This car is awesome.
One thing for sure in future I am not a Tata Buyer.[angry]

This looks like wheel balancing problem. Get all the 4 wheels balanced at a good alignment center. By the way what was your mileage on that trip?
Point taken will get the wheel aligned .
I went to Gandikota and Bellur caves in Andhra. While going i got a mileage of 17 . Early morning drive , 2 persons , full AC , 80-100.
Return we were 5 with full loaded luggage and the overall mileage came down to 13.5 for the trip. Full ac,80 -100 , afternoon time.
That is accepted i guess , as i was pushing the vehicle hard at full load.

This is not the case was Maruti Cars, even in 4th gear if you start push hard car picks up. Anyway except this (couple of other issue) This car is awesome.

Not buying a TATA car is totally your decision , and i accept that . But as much as i have driven Swift and Dzire the pleasure that i get in 3-4 gear at 2000-3500 rpm is not to be compared with any Maruti and i get to feel that on the highways where it is a breeze to overtake the Swifts and Ertigas. And add to it the suspension , i to bacame a big fan of TATA[:)].

Hi All,
This is my first post to this forum. I am very happy to get the membership. I am going to take a test drive of TATA ZEST XT diesel version on Monday (hope it will be my next car soon [:)] ). The Sales person is proposing me that, if I take 2015 Dec manufacturing car, he can give me good deal (from Concorde Pune). I really need your valuable input whether I should go for it or I should take 2016 Manufacturing year. If I am not wrong, 2015 and 2016 model don't have any difference. I am thinking to use the car more than 6 to 7 years and I am not thinking for resale value.
I am just worried that if there was any known issue with 2015 manufacturing year, which TATA fixed in 2016 manufacturing year, then surely I will go for 2016.
Please suggest.

Regards,
Biplab

Hi Biplab,

Welcome to TAI I have purchased Dec-2015 manufactured car from National Wheels Pune. I have not faced any issues go for It but only be careful with the tires. Zest come with either Bridgestone tires or Good Year. Go for a car which has Bridgestone tires.

Apart from that TATA is having an offer
1st year insurance @ Rs 1
3 years zero maintainance
10 k cash discount
25 k Exchange bonus.

Also TATA may have increased the prices in Jan ( Not sure) try to get the vehicle at the December price. And yes now ask for the discounts [:)]

Please let us know what price they are offering

Thanks a lot for your reply "konkantrip". Today, I have also taken the test drive of TATA ZEST. I have decided not to go with this car [cry] due to the gear shifter. It vibrates too much and also try to push backward in 3rd and 2nd gear. This issue is already reported in forum but I never thought it will be so irritating. I normally keep my left hand on the gear shifter (in heavy traffic, I feel it is normal). It started irritation on my left hand. Otherwise I felt the car is superb.
I took test drive for :
1) JAZZ
2) S-CROSS ( though not considering for my budget constraint)
3) TATA ZEST
Other than gear Shifter issue TATA ZEST experience is the best till now.
Now I have stared looking for other cars.

On any manual transmission it is not advised to drive with hand resting on thd gear because there are bushings under the shifter that aren't really designed for constant pressure, so you could have premature wear from that.

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. I will definately keep this in mind. But I have a K10 more than 4 yrs now but never felt that issue in that small car. I cant understand why TATA is not fixing it because anyway it is a problem or issue

Hi Biplab,

I agree to your problem, but there are some factors responsible for this and I would not blame engineering for the same.

The TD vehicles available at TATA showrooms are not maintained upto the mark so you may get that feeling. I would suggest try to drive any of your friends vehicle you will not notice this problem. In this case if you can you can TD any of your friends vehicle ( If thats not possible you can TD mines [:)] ). My 80% of driving is in ghat sections where I need to change the gear very frequently.

Hi Members,
Just wanted to bring an issue with my RT XT (155000 Kms). Just for clarification i am not supporting any high speed endeavors and would suggest everyone against it. But this weekend while returning from a trip my vehicle was fully loaded with 5 adults and full luggage , so as soon as on a clear stretch my vehicle touched 120 kmph (just wanted to check the behaviour of the car at limits) the whole vehicle started to wobble , I mean i can feel the vibrations on the steering the pedals. And as soon as i came down say even to 115 it was planted as ever. But showed the same response again when i took her to 120.
Can some one please give me a solution for the same. Is it because of the wheel alignment or i really did take the vehicle to its limits. I have got my I year servicing done in Sep 2015. Wheel alignment was done at service centre at that time.
kindly provide your inputs.

I am just more that sure that this is a wheel balancing problem.
I too had the same issue, got the wheel balancing done. And the problem is gone.

friends,
As you all know the power of low beam in zest is not good, i am planning to change it. Its been 1.5 years with my zest. What you suggest. Should i go ahead with authorized service or do of my own, knowing it will breach my electrical warranty :(

Well I had done it from service center only.
As you are in Bellandur - KHT(whitefield)/Prerana Motors(E.City) - both will be equidistant only.
I had got it done in KHT as I stay in whitefield

just got to read in tbhp that Zest (75ps ) in white being readied for taxi segment. People may not like But I welcome this move.

1. It will ensure that the car will not die premature death (owning tothe small numbers being generated)
2. Hoping that taxi segment will boost the sales, automatically, parts will be available easily across the country.
3. Resale value of the car may be better owing to the high number of taxi buyers.

^^Sirji I have already spotted 4 Zests plying with yellow plates and I guess Zests have started wearing yellow plates since a month back; maybe some dealer(s) have broke the rule and sold the cars with commercial registrations/owners have registered themselves.
