Re: Tata Zest XM (Revotron) Ownership Review

Hello guys sorry for the no new updates
Was busy at work, but noticed so many small issues with the car not in the engine and ride quality but with the exterior and interior parts.
And guess what turn stering to full or more than half now press the horn and it is silent no sound is there
Remote boot opening
Remote Fuel lid opening both are failed to work.
Mud is coming from the front wheel into the engine compartment and headlights are getting filled with that mud badly.[anger]

Thanks a lot for the initial quick feedback. One among my biggest concern for booking the ZEST are these small QC issues. The production is poorly planned and TATA not able to meet the demand of the prospective buyers. This is an important product for TATA for their rejuvenation and even a single QC issue might corner them. In addition to the above the TASS always remains to be a gamble.

Tata claims to use superior water cooled cooling system, however its performance efficiency needs to be checked.
What would be the long term reliability of the Turbo charged Engines with respect to these heating ?

I heard from the dealership guys that this is an introductory price and prices will get increased in the coming months. TATA, please don't increase the prices. One among the reasons for ZEST's demand is due to their aggressive pricing and if they can improve the confidence with regard to their reliability, ASS and quickly address the issues of the new buyers, then ZEST will create a huge demand and assures that TATA is back.

The fuel lid/boot lid problem is reported for the first time I guess. So particular for your car.

The dust/mud issue is due to small opening in the front wheel cover. Hope TML comes with some arrangement for this.
Mud entering into the headlight compartment or into the engine bay..??[confused]

Its better for you to buy Zest after one year so that every thing will be clear by then. Don't expect every dealer will be good/bad by this time as well.

But your wish of Tata not increasing prices seems out of place though.!![sleep]

Definitely No. ZEST is a very big value for money and especially its XMS variant which is fully loaded and the buyer looking for a hatchback(top end variants) can easily fit into the XMS. This is one among the reasons for the people to buy ZEST apart from space, features and ride quality as of now. So it might not be a practical wish, but sincerly request TATA to keep the same pricing and solves all the initial niggles and make their ASS too a confident in the buyer's mind to be back in the game [cheers]

Apart from mud issue, no electrical problems were reported anywhere AFAIK. But it will be good when more reviews come in as there are so many deliveries happening at this time.[:)]

Visited my dealer again. They have said that none of the model of tata zest offers Remote on keys to open boot lid or petrol lid so the gentleman who had problems with that, might be mistaken.

I have checked the covering above the front wheels in their demo model and it looked fine to me, they said their test vehicle has run more than 2500 Kms since a 20 days which include rainy week when it arrived and did not see any mud in engine bay area. I will go again and check personally the engine bay after opening the hood.

man you are getting me wrong here i am talking about remote opening which is not the key opening it is under the drive seat liver where you don't require to open fuel tank cap or boot by the key insert or get out from the car.[;)]

yeah bro right now there are no electrical issues but yet in future it may result in some issues [;)] if mud will cover your headlight from back out side.

Dear Pawanvijay

Thanks for the time to time update bro!!! You know still yours is the only ownership thread.
Did you observer overheating with the engine, considering you have driven quite a good Kilometers by now?

I guess both of those do work using the cable mechanism, I guess this is a well reliable system and Tata is aware of it for long.
How you opened the fuel lid then?

Any remedy?

I guess it should be something like cables getting blocked or wrecked. You got it checked?

Those pics are showing a McPherson strut and this opening is there for the strut itself. I am doubtful if this opening can be closed.
BTW, what's the need of such a cover when there are other conventional ways of keeping the strut/wishbones simply isolated from engine compartment? Like in 'all' other cars.

Since It is a turbo-petrol motor, to get good efficiency, it has to be driven in a "very perfect" manner. Turbo-petrol motors are too sensitive to throttle inputs and economy.
Nothing much can be done in the bumper to bumper traffic and the mileage figures mentioned for the same.
