Re: Tata Zest XM (Revotron) Ownership Review

Done by 200 km with my Revotron XT variant.
95% on ECO mode which I really hated it. Most of the time I was looking at the Instant FE and changed my entire driving style.
Avg FE shown till now was 8.9 - 9.1 km-pl. And they said the first service is at 4500 km and my usage is around 200-400 km in a month. In this way, opting for a Revotron is a total disaster for me.
I should have gone for the Ciaz which had better mileage in Petrol.

Just wait.
The FE will improve.

Guys
Have any of the ZEST owners opted for Noodle mats. I would like to know where can I get noodle mats in Bangalore other than the 3M car care.

Hello everyone..!!
Happy to share that after reading and listening to many positive reviews of the 'zest owners' including you all, I have finally booked a Zest xms RT variant today in sky grey color going against all the odds (people with anti-Tata mentality). [:D]
Still would like to know if anyone of you is facing any issue with the car apart from some minor glitches.
Awaiting response.

Hi moscowhiskies,

It is really shocking for me to see your report as I am consistently getting good mileage from my ZEST. Please find the pic for the same :

IMAG0105.jpg

The above figure shows my mileage over a span of 5 days. The total ride of 248 KMs is entirely in city and pocket roads during rush hours of 7-10 in morning and 6-8 at night with 100% use of AC at medium temp and fan speed settings. Around 120 KM in eco mode alone giving me 14-14.5 and rest in city mode giving 13.5-13.8. The figure of 13.2 came since i had to take the car out of a couple of tight spots in relatives houses and around 15 mins each of repeated reverse and forward exercises were performed yesterday leading to lowering of the avg FE. This definitely means that a highway mileage of 17 or above would be really possible. I am planning a 150 KM drive (80% highways) to Kochi next wednesday; will update after that.

Please have faith as I am sure you can get excellent mileage out of the REVOTRON engine.

How to move to average mileage from instant mileage ?
Press the mode button at the bottom of the equipment console and the top part of the display toggles between avg FE trip A, avg FE trip B, total ODO and clock.. bottom part always shows instantaneous FE.

Re: Tata Zest XM (Revotron) Ownership Review

Guys I was almost convinced about Zest. But just to clear my doubt on FE, I tried to arrange a mileage test the way @KBKolkata did. It seemed that mileage in Zest was dependent on driving style. So just wanted to check it with my driving style.

I contacted National Autowheels in Pune. Strangely, I found the dealer very lethargic. I took my first test drive some one and half months back but there was no followup from dealer side since then. As if the Zest is highest selling car, they are least bothered about a prospective customer. After a series of unanswered calls and SMSes from my side in about 5 days, ultimately my sales executive called me on Thursday and agreed for the test drive. He was about to come to my place on Saturday morning. But on he didnt come. When I SMSed him he didnt reply. When I called him, he didnt pick up the call. When I called again he said he was busy in a meeting. I still tried in the afternoon and evening. I didnt get any response.

Its not that I am in love with this dealership, there are six more dealers in Pune but they are very very far from my location. Now, I think I need to approach some other dealer only.

The not-so-good experience with dealer at this stage leads me to think about the after sales service too. What kind of service we would get once we start a relationship with such dealer ?

Dear bridge,
You raise the issue in the Facebook page of Tata zest and contact other dealer in the city. In my case also, one dealer was not very helpful but other one helped me so much that I booked the car finally with them. I have reported my problem in the official Facebook page and you will be more surprised to know that I received a call later from the unwilling dealer, but this time, the salesman is different. The attitude is totally different now. Even when I informed him that I already have booked the car with other dealer, he is still willing to help in any time. You just raise the issue in the Facebook page.

I booked XMS !

This is my Sunday story:
Earlier on Saturday, I tried very hard with National Autowheels but didnt get any support. So I called up Pandit Auto. The Sales guy was adamant on my visiting showroom and denied mileage test. I called Concorde and found that they were ready to help. I fixed appointment on Sunday.

I reached Concorde motors which is on Mumbai - Bangalore highway. Once I reached I was told that they will not be able to fill up petrol because it was Sunday and there was no signing authority to sign the coupon which can be used at a petrol pump. That was a setback. Then I asked for a regular but long test drive. They agreed.

After setting the trip meter to 0, I started from Concorde. I took a test drive on the route of Hinjewadi flyover, Jagtap Dairy Chowk, Aundh : Parihar Chowk, Bremen circle, University Circle, S B Road, Nal Stop, Paud Road, Chandani Chowk and back to Concorde Motor. Total 35 KM. I would say that for approx 15 to 17 KM the road was very clear. And for the rest of the drive was normal city traffic. It was not heavy traffic because it was Sunday. At the end of the trip, the meter reading was 15.1 km/l with 100% AC on.

Majority of the time I used City and Eco. I found Eco sluggish only at few places such as climbing the fly overs, overtaking etc. Otherwise Eco too was good.

Many boarders has reported that there are minor variations between the FE displayed on meter vs. Tankful-to-tankful methods. Considering that, I am of the opinion that even during heavy traffic of city the mileage should not disappoint by going below 13.

With this logic, at late evening I booked XMS. The final cost will be 6.27.

I guess dealers are the one to blame.

Though I'm happy with my ZEST QJT, I wasn't happy that I was sold a Sept Manufactured car after waiting for 6 Weeks. My foolishness that I didnt check the VIN throughly and received this on Nov 30. Dont trust Concorde Motors, Diary circle, Bangalore. Check everything before you take the delivery/sign the form.

There are several complaints about them even here in this forum.
So far the best in Bangalore is Prerana Lal Bagh Road. Any idea about the approach of Prerana BTM layout?

Dear bridge,
You got better mileage than me. I must appreciate your driving. Please tell me at which rpm you changed the gear. Have you driven the car entirely using ECO mode?
The other news is KB Motors informed me today that my car arrived in the showroom. I will check the car tomorrow and after registration I can take delivery, which may happen this week.

Couldn't agree more with you.. exactly my experience with my xm revotron. Getting 13.2 in peak city traffic as I showed in my screenshot.. should get 16 - 17 in highways quite easily..
