Re: Tata Venture Exclusive Road Test Review

been a long time since i logged in. its good to be back ;)

we are planning to buy a 5-13 seater vehicle. I know its a long range. but then, thats wat has been in talks now. The vehicle will be basically used as people mover+luggage. will be used only for private purpose. So shortlisted this venture and Force Gama and Toofan.

1. Venture is what we are inclined to, first of all creature comfort. its a moden vehicle, damn spacious. yet tiny dimensions on the outside. proven engine(so as to say).

2. Been reading alot about Gama(9+1) and Toofan(11+1). These vehicles have no comfort whatsoever. read tht new versions atleast come with headrests. the fun is the pricing. while both these share same TD 2650(if m not wrong) engine and same power output. Gama having shorter WB is priced nearly 2lk over Toofan. Both have exact same features(rather dont). gama is 9.2x n Toofan 7.2x on road here for private buyer.

Since we will also need a luggage carrier, venture's 8 seating doesn help. the last row only folds once, so loading big boxes is not possible. thats the reason we chose the 5 seater. probably will get jump seats. main advantage is comfort n exterior dimension.

Force vehicles have bullet proof engine(they say) good on driveability upto 80-90 and handle decently, at tht price point to seating/luggage capacity and safety wise, also tht it will be used in semi urban/rural places with huge potholesToofan makes sense to us. but since we will be taking it to bangalore also, its dimensions become a pain.

will be doing a TD of a used Toofan and a new venture soon. will decide after tht i guess.

^^^
For private purposes Venture is better considering than the Toofans, guess the name is now cruiser. They are good for commercial purposes and too crude for personal use as those cruisers use leaf springs which means your back bones getting a massage in a hard way.

If you need to carry the luggage and 8 people on board then fix up roof carrier that's it.

You can post this in The Automotive Shopper thread.

Re: Tata Venture Exclusive Road Test Review

Cruiser Classic is 13+1 seater.. Toofan is 11+1. In Karnataka, 13+1 is considered as MIni Bus and hence could not be registered properly. Thats why they reduced the seating to 11+1 and realunched it as Toofan.*

Also iv heard its got good ride for its category. Main problem with Venture for our use is, it will mostly run on full load that too mostly on unpaved roads. the GC of Venture isnt great. where as Force vehicles have 210mm or more GC which makes sense.. we may actually settle for a cheap used one n redo interiors a bit. new ones too expensive..

and BTW sorry to hijack the thread n go :offtopic:

Does anyone on TAI own a Venture? Met a unofficial Venture taxi owner. Was an ex army man. Seemed v pleased with the product-had the eights seater and claimed a mileage of around 15kmpl.Felt the vehicle was stable at 80k/hr which was the max he was trying.

I think there might be one Venture owner in TAI but he is not that active. But if TATA decide to plonk in cr4 engine in Venture then it can surely find few takers on our forum as well.

Re: Tata Venture Exclusive Road Test Review

Drove on the Chennai Bangalore highway 2 days ago-the highway was bogged down by traffic-however to my delight i was accompanied by a Venture GX in front of me.
The vehicle was new-no registration, with a family of 4-5 with a cycle inside!
The vehicle seemed pretty nimble and was able to dive in and out of the traffic[:D]-which mostly follows its own rules-drive on any lane and overtake any way you can[anger]
However, it seemed to stay at ~80k -not sure if ran out of steam or the driver was being cautious.
On the whole, after watching this for almost an hour-with the traffic going nowhere, feel that this is one vehicle with so much promise...if only TML could get in a BS4 engine and get quality and ASS better....

In this case both applies,as the engine runs out of breath at 90kmph and it feels the driver uncomfortable because of wobbling.

Don't know what is Tata upto, BS-4 is always a hit, or maybe Tata fears that it would pull down Sumo Gold if it comes in BS-4.

Really I agree it seems that Tata are just sleeping. They have 25 kmpl giving well renowned cr4 engine yet they refuse to launch it in Venture. Why? Do they think it will make it even more overpriced that what it is now,or they have no future strategy at all?

Agree with you TATA has too many product's overlapping each other, they just don't seem to have any strategy while launching a new product.

Nice man, yes it does feel like that if you are used to handle the steering position like that, but that's so fun and gives a good commanding view in the front. Was that a TD vehicle you drove?
