We are now talking about an engine replacement in a car just 1.5 months old. I don't know how much good or bad such a thing is for a newly launched model. May be we are expecting too much from a car that is based on a hatchback. As an industry standard, the hatch and it's sedan sibling is supposed to have the same engines [lol] TML has improved the petrol engines with the balancer shaft. Hence again and again it's the pricing that's coming to my mind. How much VFM is Tigor. In India we can't sell a car lonely for it's looks, boot space and music system. Especially for a brand that is starving to survive, prices could have been lower so that all these short comings of underwhelming motors could have been masked easily IMHO. Similar to Tiago strategy, prices could be increased in every two months or so.[sleep]

Offtopic: Hope Tata will plonk the updated Revotron in Tiago as well. Also expecting Tiago like introductory pricing for Nexon as well. Hey TML, those people who are now showing too much interest in Nexon will not take a look if you price it ambitiously right from the start.[;)]
What am saying is a new variant with the CR4 engine and not to change the entire lineup. People who want more mileage can go for 1.05L Revotorq and who looking for more power can go for CR4. In petrol, current 1.2l Revotron is quite good with the new update of Balancer shaft.

Yes i am driving tigor XZO petrol from last one month.
ODO is just 400 kms, didn't drive this beauty much as had to visit hometown.

I think mileage might match with Maruti suzuki.
My tigor mileage is increasing day by day, Latest MID mileage is 16.4 with AC in city mode.
Thanks for the Info Sachin, 16.4 kmpl is quite cool... thats really good.. and i think once you cross more than 1000 km run in period, engine will become even smoother and you can expect even better mileage may be !!
Let us know your experience with Tigor and its driveability and the service quality after the first service..

TIGOR... Its definitely an eye-catcher of the segment. Good in looks, fit and finish, style, quality of materials. TATA has improved a lot in the last decade.
Being made on the Tiago, the entry hatch platform, with same peppy tiny engines, its definitely aimed for budget buyers and not for real sedan lookers.

TATA could have considered these points:
* Width of the car could have been increased to 1695mm (instead of 1677) So that the tall stance can be minimized and it can be more planted on roads. Even it can give more shoulder room for 3 in rear.
* The front though looks good, the bonnet could have still had some mods & beefed-up looks (atleast some flow lines on the bonnet) to give the styleback, a more stance in the front too!
* Though the boot is larger and having 4-link mechanism, the loading lip could have been lowered (simply by designing a sleek bumper) for stacking the luggage with ease. (With this high lip, some big boxes cannot be put into the boot, though it can accommodate!)
* The rear bench could have been provided 60:40 split with flat fold options like the one in tiago.
* Detachable/Adjustable headrests could do better, atleast in the rear. so that we can have better rear visibility, atleast when no passengers in the rear seat.
* Door locks should be integrated with handles.
* Fog lamps could have been given a Hexagonal shape reather than the conventional round!
* Important is Dual Airbags optional on all variants.
* Window/Curtain/Rear Airbags in Top-end variants.

But still the vehicle will lead the entry-level compact sedan segment[;)][;)][;)] with all its features and style.
IMO, the pricing strategy TATA followed for Tigor is not better. They fixed the slabs considering DZire/Amaze/Aspire/Ameo as their competition.
Prices should still be lowered a bit!

Tata's over ambitious pricing is going to kill Tigor, more so looking at Dzire's prices.

May be Tata needs to provide price cut or discounts to keep people interested.

For petrol Instead of price cut add Airbags & ABS as standard which will put it as XZO vs VXI with 10k less price and base variant would be 75 thousand less than DZIRE - LXI vs XE

Price comparison variant wise

Absolutely agreed. Price cut would be a suicide attempt. Simply introduce xto variant which would be a small premium over xt with airbags. People are going crazy and over enthusiastic with the new Dzire. Its indeed a nice car with better engines and the best looking Dzire till now.
But, to be observed, the price difference between the L_i and V_i models are huge. The L_i models Don't make sense. Even though they have airbags, ABS they completely lack features and is too bare bones. Better suited for marketing purposes. You need safety but you need convenience also. Now when you compare Tigor XZ with Dzire V_i, the otr difference of roughly 55k(P), 70k(D) is not small by any standards considering that XZ is better equipped. Dzire may have better drive trains, rear ac vents, slightly better FE but Tigor engines are not as bad as people are making it out to be. Plus it has better looks, distinct styleback design, Bigger boot with pneumatic struts, best in class music system, rear wash and wipe and most importantly significantly lesser price. Both are good in their own way.

The tigor seems to be fighting a battle in a higher weight category than it should-it should be an entry level CS segment-it seems 50-75K too expensive;however that may make it financially un-viable. Seems a tough spot to be in. The base new Dzire is cleverly positioned vv low-perhaps to give the competition a knock and also for the taxi segment?

50-75k only possible if you love Tata to sell at a loss to you. Read somewhere when Tiago was launched, in the beginning Tata was literally making almost no money from it as it was underpriced to gain market share. Maruti is following Tata's strategy for new models. Just like Tiago and Tigor are not available for Taxi segment, the new Dzire also won't. Probably the older model for Taxi segment? Good strategy as older Dzire was too much into Taxi.

Hello Guys, Any news when Tigor AMT will be launched. I need to buy a automatic car in next two/three months and if Tigor is available in automatic then that will be my first choice.

IMO, Tigor is not overpriced at all, You get Tigor XZO model for the price of Dzire VXI.
If you update Dzire VXI with harmon speakers, screen, and alloys, it would easily cost 30-50K extra.

Except for engine, Tigor XZ and XZO beats Dzire in all aspect (though by little margin only).

Having said that I still feel Dzire to be more value for money is because of resale value... There is huge demand today for new dzire and it will be same in resale mkt 3 years down the line.. So additional 30-50K that one is paying today for Dzire VXI will be earned back at the time of resale.

Good demand for Tata Tigor

The demand for the Tigor is on the rise and this has resulted in longer waiting periods for the model across the country. Dealers have revealed that the two top variants, XZ and XZ(O), already have a waiting period of four to five weeks, while the mid-spec XE trim has a delivery time of approximately 20 days.
