to add to it all hyundais from lower spectrum to highest spectrum look the same. So do the renaults. From Kiwd to duster to Kadjar.

I agree with you all however Tata should get a design language which would be different from Indica to get back to the market or get an add which describes the positive of all the products they made till now ie

First AWD 4X4 beast: Tata Safari-- enough beast that people give way on the road itself.

First luxury pickup: Tata Xenon and even Australian and South African market drive it and chear for Tata.

And above all expectations of the world...people said not possible... Others said Rattan Tata ..are u joking...
But Tata Motors made it happen:

Tata Nano... After all the critics and tough times.... Nano the cute little city car locking horns with big dominators and bringing smiles to the owners...Bang of the buck

And now with a new era of Indian automobile industry:

Tata zest: India's first automatic diesel CS sedan at the lowest price.
Revotron engine: first in segment with Multi mode drive selection which was available in luxury segment till now but Tata did it and will do it again in Future

Purely my idea... Tata need someone to advertise the products properly... They might not need Messi... Make aam admi your brand ambassador and see the change..

Therz something called family design language in the automobile industry. Therz a reason why all the Audis look the same. All the BMWs look the same. All the Mercs look the same.

I understand the family design language. But I don't understand why the design language is evolved from an underpowered car with a taxi image. And, why it is not same across the range ? Other successful products like safari, Sumo/Grande are different and they don't share the family looks. On the other hand many of the commercial vehicles like ace, ace zip, venture get a headlamp or taillamp design from this family. Tata is producing brilliant products and from build to ride everything is getting improved. But the same old design hint is somewhere carrying that taxi image along with it.

Good designs can be used forever with slight changes. But egg shaped ones? Time will only tell about its success. So good luck to tata and its followers

I understand the family design language. But I don't understand why the design language is evolved from an underpowered car with a taxi image. And, why it is not same across the range ? This Taxi image is what the people have created for your information. Also the advantage of sharing the same family image would be to save unnecessary costs in spending money for an all new design! It's up-to the buyers and their preferences while buying their car. Many loved Indica Vista's shape more than the Indica. Even bolt though has same Vista's structure is good enough to be called as a looker.

The same story goes with Maruti too, look what they've done to Alto,k10 Swift,Ritz,Ertiga and Dezire.

This Taxi image is what the people have created for your information. Also the advantage of sharing the same family image would be to save unnecessary costs in spending money for an all new design! Even bolt though has same Vista's structure is good enough to be called as a looker.

Agree! An image of the product is mostly formed upon what people think about it; Be it HM Amby as a govt vehicle or Premier Padmini as a Mumbai taxi. But while designing a new vehicle what's the need of carrying over a touch of a car which has more yellow number plates than white. Look, You can sell a inferior car which looks similar to a car having good reputation but not the other way round. And, already we are seeing how Bolt and zest are doing in market. Although, these are very good products but are suffering because of the quality of indica and indigo which harmed Tata's reputation in passenger car segment.

It's the customer who makes the decision to buy a product not the manufacturer. And, only the customer decides which product seems inferior or superior to him. If the customer is fine with a product which seems inferior to others, it is totally alright.

Well, my two mini cents here.

I believe Tata guys are definitely acknowledging the fact that some how the general mass is detesting the indica bean shape. (Though to my eyes it is very classy shape, you put some beautiful designed front and rear and it would look mind blowing, see the Bolt, forget vista for a moment see the bolt. It is indeed very well designed and does command a second look)

It is why if you see the latest offering from Tata:
1. they have moved away from chirstmas lights. See the Bolt, Kite Hatch and Hexa.
2. they have modified the simley grill See the Hexa.
3. moving away from the bean shape, see the Kite Twins and Hexa. With lots of new body panels in Hexa, like in the old Aria which looked like Indica on Steriods, is no longer there. Yes there is similarity between Hexa and Aria but Hexa and indica, No.

So the transformation is definitely there. I am sure when Kite twins hit the market it will have no resemblance to the indicas. (which is what people want.) However being on the same platform and chassis being the same, i guess the dimension may not vary too much.

Here the list of changes i want to see in TATA Indica V2

All above mentioned changes will bring car looks more modern and reduces age of the car.

Kite is new Indica I think.

And even today you put Indica V2 in front of Swift first gen and the Indica take lot of points away from Swift. The rear looks good still even after more than decade design. I saw one today ..well maintained allowys installed and written proud owner since 2003 on it. It was indica turbo actually... The cost was 3.75 on road at that point if am not mistaken.

In my city Bolt is now being advertised as starting at 3.99 lakh ex-showroom. Has Tata slashed the prices ? Keeping the Indica eV2 still at 4.45 lakh ?

This is the only thought by the newer generation people, by then these were the only shining stars and people were owning it as a "luxury" and yes, there is a point that company should give in new thoughts while designing their vehicle, the question again comes there what's called Cost.

All in all it's the whole company's reputation which is letting down it's sales, well what I wanted to convey is that there's no really a mistake taking the design(w.r.t Kite) ques from it's seniors, but it usually goes on various factors like the design team, the investment made etc..

I really liked the idea of this getting an AMT in diesel, but have to know to how much extent it will make into buyers hands.

You know in Punjab people still say Indica was king of it's time and Indigo CS still selling in good numbers here.
And one anger I have with Tata is that why aren't they selling Xenon from their passenger vehicle division thus losing lot of sales as it's only available where they sell Ace and likes and the showroom experience; you know it all.
