Re: Car Arriving at Stockyard!

1) VIN no. is same as chasis no? It appears on driver side dashboard and also engraved on the body when you open the driver door?
>> Yes both are same. It is also stuck on the windshield in a green color label.

2) For PDI, I have downloaded the teambhp checklist.

3) After Documentation, she would invoice so I would pay the full car cost. I am going on full cash. I am thinking of buying some accessories like Leather seats, mats, mud flaps, door visors. Initially they said 5% discount but I request 10% and they said they would consider. So shall I buy from showroom or from outside/online can you please elaborate on each of the accessories. The Leather seat cover from Tata looks very good and would be of snug fit. And will invoice price include the accessories I opt for.
>> Invoice price will not include accessories, you will get a separate bill for them. Accessories from dealership will always be costlier than outside shops, unless you know pricing in your city.

4) After invoicing, she told it would take 4 days for Registration.
>> Sounds OK to me. It varies from state to state.

5) What all documentation I should take care of and how to exactly know I am not going to be taken for a ride by the dealer.
>> Sales invoice, Insurance, RC book, Warranty cards, Spare key, User manuals, Free service coupons,

6) Things I missed?
>> Nothing that I can think of.

I received delivery of my XT(O) Petrol last week. I am a novice driver.

I found that engine can be turned on only when you apply the clutch (even though the gear lever is at Neutral). This was instructed by delivery person also.
However, in other cars the engine can be turned on without the clutch.

Is is the same with other TIAGO owners in the group ?

on the time of Test Drive Tiago the Sales Person mentioned apply the clutch on start the car.

That is a security feature in tiago. Infact many cars in the West do not start if Seat belt is not worn. It is always a good practice to start car with clutch pressed.

Tiago enters top 10

Tata Tiago enters top 10 cars buy selling 6k+ units again. I believe if people are not unfair towards the car and judge it fairly it deserves to 5.

My word of congrats to all the Tiago owners. My question is directed specifically to the XT and XZ owners.
The Harman Kardon ICE is indeed the best in class, it has everything good. Is it only me, or others too have felt that the door panels don't do justice to this awesome ICE system? My friend has got an XT petrol, and it's literally a horrible feeling to listen to the ICE at medium to high bass at even medium volume levels. It seems like every door panel rattles madly. Any solution to the problem; if anyone has got this issue resolved?

Today I did my PDI. Couldn't find any flaw after checking the car. The car was looking brand new. I drove only fot 10metres as they didn't allow me to drive after that.

Observations:
- Car was scratchless.
- Engine noise was well insulated and felt refined and composed in my short drive.
-Engine oil was correct from my understanding.
- AC, Power Windows, front wiper n washer, Music System everything was working.
- No vibrations on Gear lever as reported by new users. Tata has fixed this issue in earlier batches.
- Car had done 14kms. FE shown was 8.5kmpl on mid

New observation!!
The 10th character of VIN is G which means 2016 but 12th character is N and there is no Month for that in Tata's old decoder logic. It seems Tata is using new character for November. K means October.
I checked all new cars at stockyard had K and N only. Dealer said they will clarify.

No, I don't think Tata will use a New Letter for VIN identification. I think it might be M which means December Manufactured one. It's not new thing for these manufacturers to produce a car one month Earlier. So in all probability, the 12th Character is M. If it was November, I would have been L.

I too took my PDI today for my Expresso Brown Tiago XZ D, and I too observed that the VIN had G as the 10th character, and K and N as the 11th and 12th ones. I think either the K or N means October or November.

Taking delivery tomorrow, so will check with them then again.

This has been designed specifically to reduce the load on the starter motor.

Hi there Vipul.
I am quite satisfied with volume levels of 11-12.
No rattling as such.
Try to configure the bass and treble in the settings.

I do not have rattles until volume 15 ish (10 itself is loud for many).

Tata had changed the nomenclature for Nov / Dec in 2015 itself. I know because I had used the old nomenclature to decode my Nano's date during PDI and had the same dilemma as you all.

I am giving the revised details as below. :
Tata Codes begin with MAT...
10th character represents the YEAR of Manufacture
12th character represents the MONTH of Manufacture

An Example:
If your 10th VIN character is A, then it represents the Year - 2010
If your 12th VIN character is G, then it represents the Month - July

Month Codes:
A = JAN
B = FEB
C = MAR
D = APR
E = MAY
F = JUN
G = JUL
H = AUG
J = SEP
K = OCT
N = NOV
P = DEC

Year Codes:
G = 2016
H = 2017
J = 2018
K = 2019

@uday, @torqist, my 12th character is N but form 20 says Dec 2016 manjfactured. I think that might be mistake but makes my car one month younger.

@torqist, how ur taking delivery next day after pdi? What about invoicing, insurance and registration? I did pdi last sat and delivery might be Sunday or max Wednesday. Im getting out of patience.
