Got the delivery of silver grey XZ Diesel today. Have not been able to test it thoroughly till now, will be doing it over the weekend. Two issues with the car, one perhaps major.
1. Car rode brilliantly in both CITY and ECO modes in all 5 gears in the 30 kms that I rode it for today. However, while parking the car in my stilt parking (which has very little room and the reversing needs to be very very precise) the power steering suddenly became very very stiff as if the car has been switched off and I am trying to turn the steering. Took it back to the dealer (no problems faced with the steering on this stretch) who disconnected the battery terminals for about 10 minutes to reset the ECU (?). Drove it back and parked it. No problems with steering this time. But I am not confident that all is well. Will need to check it for a few days before my BP comes down.
2. Not so major and perhaps a minor irritant. The Harman system failed to recognize two of my USB drives and gave the error - USB failure. Both my drives are 16GB and formatted as NTFS. Will format them as FAT32 and try it again tomorrow. Also is there a restriction on the size of the USB that the system can recognize. Will also try with a 4GB drive tomorrow. Have not been able to go through the manual yet.
Awaiting your comments. I may not be able to respond tonight though.
Can confirm that the system only recognizes FAT32 formatted drives. Reformatted both USB's, one as NTFS and the other as FAT32. The one with FAT32 file system worked while the one with NTFS didn't. Changed the formatting of the two USB's and this time too only the one with FAT32 worked.

I don't think any music system supports NTFS on USB.
You may be correct there Puneet.

Got into trouble with rat...

some how rat got inside the car. entire boot area is with holes. PArking sensor wires cut, even a small hole in the roof also[frustration]. Paper kept inside the glove box totaly cut, abs sensor wire cut .

I was thinking there is some opening under the car in the boot area through which rat can get in. but when i showed to service centre, there claim is some how rat got inside the car when the door was open and since it couldn't get outside, it destroyed everything.

Total estimate for damage is 20 to 30k [frustration] Right nw checking with insurance company to see if the damage is covered or not.

I am very sorry for you mate. I am not inclined to service center's claim because we already have cases of mud accumulating in fuel lid area which is a design flaw. I hope you have zero dep insurance to cover this claim?

There is one specific issue I've observed for a couple of times.
The Harman system displays everything but there is no sound!
Restarted the car again and the sound is back.
Anybody observed this?

I feel so sorry.brand new car.You will have to be patient now.God knows what else it has cut. Please tell them to check entire wiring. And once you get it back ;God forbid don't park it in the same place. There obviously is a way for the rat to enter. You got to find it out and put a mesh screwed in.Rats have great memory...personal experience mate...with the baleno...multiple times..No point worrying. As and when issues crop up..jus do it.Most likely no major problems will come. But a modern machine should have that covered.Rats just dont enter the aria so far..as i said there has to be a way.
By the way offtopic dont you think the tiago's rear has more than a passing resemblance to the Chevrolet onix.pic attached.Your opinion TAI guys?I like the TATAs to remain distinctive. They are very capable at that. Mr.Bose are you listening??But its got beautiful proportion after all and the market is lapping it up.Recently sat in one.The heavy doors;the solid thud...way to go TATA.

Almost all owners have run into this scenario, mine happened this morning. I will be raising a complaint in TMSC app so they work with Harman to resolve this bug.

Thanks so I'm not alone.
Another thing while slotting into reverse, it tends to get jammed in between [confused]. Is that another known issue? I've completed 700+ kms and is due for servicing in 1-2 weeks.

Hi Naveen,

I suggest you visit Aadya motors (near Nagavara signal - Service / Customer relationship Manager name is also Mr. Naveen [:)] ) bangalore. Believe me, I was also facing the gear lever vibrations... they solved the issue. now, there is no vibrations.

Also, want to add that this engine is a mileage king... you wont believe - i got 30 kmpl twice (18 kms trip)... also, one of out wapp group members achieved the same on a stretch of 150 kms.

Didn't Like:
1.Vibrations Vibrations Vibrations.
Whenever I start the car in idle, gear Lever dances with engine. Lot of vibrations are felt during 1st,2nd and 3rd gears. Vibrations seeps through dashboard and making tuk tuk sound.
(I am closely taking to Tata After sale service, they seem to be quite responsive.)
2.Not happy with mileage in Bangalore CITY(&CITY mode). getting close to 9KMPL.

Yes buddy this is also a known issue. I have clocked 2200+ kilometers and reportedly service center folks fixed this during first service but still it often gets stuck half way. Nowadays I release the clutch little bit to let the gear stick slip through the remaining part. Let me know if this works for you, not sure if this is a right practice though.

I think it's time to start a technical issues/solutions thread for Tiago, I will start one later today [glasses].

Hey guyz, posting after long time. I have a question though it seems stupid :stupid: but, if there is a choice to be made between Tiago XT(O), Baleno 1.2 Delta and Elite i20 1.2 Magna which one should I buy. Keeping in mind that I can stretch my budget of 5lakhs to 6.5lakhs if these cars are distinguishly better than Tiago. I love Tiago very much but only concerned with NVH, underpowered engine and yes both other cars are visually bigger than Tiago. I like good refined car with good performance and awesome road presence. I would have gone for Ecosport blindly if my budget permits. So here's the dilemma if I can stretch my budget by any how, would the baleno or elite i20 worth the difference in respect to Tiago XT(O)?

Also has any Tiago owner selected or even seen (in showroom) the Aktive body kits?

This is more of a dilemma. The Tiago offers better ride-handling than the Elite or Baleno while the Baleno is quicker only because its lightweight.
The Tiago may not be as refined as the four cylinder cars, but it is never underpowered and is in the league of the Petrol Polo 1.2. The initial vibration issues are being corrected by Tata and we expect the Tiagos manufactured from August onwards to be totally free of vibrations.
If I were you, I would rather go for the Tiago xz, since the Tiago lower variants with optional packs are yet to be delivered to anyone and no one knows even if it has been produced. And yes, no compromise on safety.
I personally don't believe in the Baleno being a premium hatchback as it is just a Swift underneath that ugly waxy melty body of it. I won't be surprised if the owners get bored within just 2 years of Baleno-ing.
The Elite is one premium feeling car, but it's best as a city car. The handling and feedback of the steering is sleepy and toyish enough to make your highway drive very boring.
Why don't you try the Figo? I don't know about it's petrol engine, but the diesel is absolutely great. It may not be as exciting to look at as the Tiago, but it's good to drive and have fun on highways.
If petrol and fun are your priorities and looks don't matter much, then the Bolt 1.2Turbo is great value. The Sport mode is real fun. Yes, you may need to mod it by slapping on some cool body kits and alloys to make it look better, but it's a great car nonetheless.
Regarding the Tiago Activ kits, only the body skirts are available with SRT Tata here in Coimbatore. Alloys and roof rails are yet to come.
Happy choosing.
This Blue Tiago is an XM variant, with 13 inch alloys and Activ skirts fitted by SRT Tata. There are images of Red XM, Blue XZ with activ kits on other threads.

Re: Tata Tiago Review & Pictures: Tata's Tiago

Hi All,
I have been using Tata Tiago XZ (petrol) Since May 4 2016,Purchased from Auto matrix Mangalore.
At start there were some issues with the car,As the car was manufactured in month of Feb 16.

Issue listed below
    1. NVH
    2. Gear Vibration and rattling
    3. Glove Box Left upper part has a quite bit of gap in it,Still under rectification. And I have seen many car having this issue
    4. Top Black Strip issue on left side,Looking like uneven fit
    5. Refuel message was coming even when there is 8+ lts or petrol.
    6. Low mileage around (12-14 Kmpl)
    7. Pulling was very less.
    Too much isn't it [frustration][evil]

But after constant interaction with Tata Motors,All the issues were nullified,And now the car is really Fantastico [:D]

Now its returning a mileage of around 18Kmpl on a bit busy highway and village curvy road,With A/C on sometimes.

Here is complete owner ship review by me written on Quora with 2.5K+ views :http://tinyurl.com/zf4pphb

    There are some other queries:
    1. Did any one try the original DRL provided by Tata Motors for Tiago ?As I am looking for one.As mine is XZ variant it already has a Fog Lamp with chrome finish.I just want a LED DRL without fog Lamp. So did any one install LED DRL?If so please post a video / image here with light on and off state.Just wanted to see the look' s of it.
    2. Did any one try Original Seat covers for Tiago?Hows the quality are they durable or should I buy it outside ?
    3. Did any one cross 110 Kmph mark?
    4. Did any one install Roof Railing? Please share pics

Will post some off road driving videos very soon. It's FANTASTICO!

  1. Hi Shiva i have crossed 140Km/hr and it is very good with zero vibration effect
