He has provided this as a VIN number: MAT626281GKF19***
Could anyone help me decode it? I had already asked him that I will do a PDI for which he is saying start the billing process and after the car is billed they will bring the car to showroom for PDI.
I did tell him I will bill the same day I get my PDI not before that ( or if they allow me to visit their stockyard, they are giving an excuse the stockyard is at Badarpur and is filled with knee height mud and all)
I have just submitted my documents for processing and will wait for the loan to be approved.
Please help and guide which papers I should/ should not sign prior to PDI and or delivery. I will be paying around 1.2 lk divided in 2 cheques and rest as loan amount (TIAGO petrol XZ).
Would also appreciate with national insurance company to go for, they are quoting 20k for B2B Zero dep insurance.
Anything else I should know as I am a first time owner ( apart from PDI checklist and going through papers before signing and checking registration details.)[:)]
Yours is a June made car. I think it is OK to start billing as long as they do not ask for your payment. That's what I did here in Coimbatore, did the PDI and made payment same day. Invoice was done the next day by their accounts team. I don't see a logic in your dealer's silly excuse to keep you out of their stockyard. If it's filled with knee height mud what about all the new cars they have stocked up there?

Loan: I did not go for loan so not sure about the process/papers bro. Hope other experts here can answer you.

Insurance: I bought it from Royal Sundaram for 16.5K with unlimited zero dep claims plus a few other add-ons like engine cover, key replacement cover, spare car cover etc.

Could you please share/ PM me the number for Royal Sundaram, maybe I can get the same deal?
Even I am on the same page of telling them to let me do the PDI and then take the cheque for billing the same day.

I purchased it online at www.royalsundaram.in. They have a decent online system and once you complete your quote, their sales rep will call you for any questions/clarifications. Let me know if you have specific questions, we can chat further in PM. Thanks!

Tiago booking extends to 3 months.
Backlog of 23000 units which implies a total orders to 34K (11k Units sold till now) units. That is a very good start to Tiago.
Though I am happy for this good start, TML should clarify the reason for 3 months wait time in order to retain those who have booked and waiting.

Three months waiting period is justified if Tata is doing 10k sales per month. But this is ridiculous for a car which is just introduced and doing about 4k per month. Is tata not expected this much of demand?

We need to acknowledge the fact that in the recent years, Tatas have been working towards low inventory model, where by they are ordering part based on the requirements and production is inline with the demand.

So most of the vendors for Tata are accustomed to supply part for around 3-4K cars a month. Never before they had anticipated such a spike for cars in the last 4-5 years. It will take time for all the parties in supply chain to rise to the occasion and deliver.

For foreign car manufacturers read Renault et al, they have high production number for export cars and thus it is easy for them to rampup production for india specific cars.

This is how i read this situation.

Few thoughts About the feedback on Tiago-

Feedback & case

Inadequate power
- If Tata plonked a big engine in it then ktna deti hai and attractive price tag would have not been there. Which matters the most in Indian scenario.

Low Supply high waiting period As mentioned above by vikyjoshi production ramp up will take time with supply of outsourced part channelising, along with that may be Tata thought of testing the waters & work on feedback of initial consumers to make it better on model of CIP(continuous improvement plan). And we heard that the NVH & AC is better in recent batches.

One more point- Tata and even lot of us thought that Tiago Diesel will sell more however its opposite. The petrol version got 80% of the total sales. Even Honda faced the same supply issues with shift in demand of petrol verses diesel cars.
I even feel that Tata made diesel engine more advanced with balancing shaft anticipating the same but no one can judge the market specially when you are new to the segment of maybe coming back after a long time.

Got the delivery of silver grey XZ Diesel today. Have not been able to test it thoroughly till now, will be doing it over the weekend. Two issues with the car, one perhaps major.
1. Car rode brilliantly in both CITY and ECO modes in all 5 gears in the 30 kms that I rode it for today. However, while parking the car in my stilt parking (which has very little room and the reversing needs to be very very precise) the power steering suddenly became very very stiff as if the car has been switched off and I am trying to turn the steering. Took it back to the dealer (no problems faced with the steering on this stretch) who disconnected the battery terminals for about 10 minutes to reset the ECU (?). Drove it back and parked it. No problems with steering this time. But I am not confident that all is well. Will need to check it for a few days before my BP comes down.
2. Not so major and perhaps a minor irritant. The Harman system failed to recognize two of my USB drives and gave the error - USB failure. Both my drives are 16GB and formatted as NTFS. Will format them as FAT32 and try it again tomorrow. Also is there a restriction on the size of the USB that the system can recognize. Will also try with a 4GB drive tomorrow. Have not been able to go through the manual yet.
Awaiting your comments. I may not be able to respond tonight though.

Congratulations on your new ride Maneesh. Share some pictures for us please.
I am using a brand new 32GB USB 3.0 pen drive in my Tiago but it could be FAT32 as I did not reformat after opening the package. It's a bummer if Harmon does not support NTFS file system.[frustration]

I don't think any music system supports NTFS on USB.
