Re: Tata Tiago Petrol XZ - A Layman's Review: Third Service Update

Fourth Service Update:
6 months on the calendar and it's time for my Tiago's 4th (minor) service. I did it two days ahead of the date noted by TASC on my driver side visor, as it was a less busier work week for me. ODO stood at 20677 when I reached TASC, which is 2000KM short of the 22500KM schedule.

This time around, I printed out a checklist and handed it to my SA, he must have thought I'm a nerd .[lol]
Checklist.jpg

Solutions Provided (Major):
1. Left Pulling : Alignment corrected. Since this was not a strong pull, I did not bother picking on them.
2. AC not cooling under hot sun : AC Filter cleaned, they also blowed compressed air in engine bay (thank you dashcam) to remove all the mud accumulated. I do not hear disrupted airflow anymore. Yet to test after parking under hot sun.
3. Fog lamps : Replaced under warranty. This was a known issue with a specific vendor's parts. Just that I did not use my fog lamps long enough to heat it up.
4. Half rolled down windows making noise : I guess they tightened something in doors, forgot to ask what was done.

Solutions Provided (Minor):
1. Long cranking at times : They suspected it to be related to battery but it was fine.
2. Center console USB charger loose: Tightened.
3. Rear left door vibration : This was noticeable with bass notes at higher volume levels (15+). Corrected by TASC.
4. Repeated relay sound : Experienced this only once during reversing, not sure what they did.

Replacements:
1. Rear left Tail lamp bulb : Replaced & invoiced.
2. Front right fog lamp bulb : Both fog lamps replaced under warranty.
3. 12v socket cover : The plastic cover's open/close point got broken and asked them to replace if possible. Not a deal breaker.
4. Clutch pedal cover : Had worn out and close enough to reveal the metal beneath. Replaced & invoiced (both B and C pedals).
5. Change wiper blades : Both front wipers and rear wiper blades were changed under AMC.
6. Handover RHS ORVM : They took my old ORVM and I will be paid shortly (or adjusted in upcoming service visits).

Regular checks were done; tires rotated, wheels balanced and aligned:

Invoice Copies: I was charged for wheel balancing citing it's not part of 7500KM service. However, they wrongly charged for wheel alignment as well which was taken out with a credit note. My final payable was Rs 728.

Thanks to fellow Tiago owner Muthukumar who gave his unused LHS ORVM skull cap. I now run with gloss black ORVMs on both sides [:D]

As always, avoided washing the car from them to prevent swirl marks. But then their new water spraying machine caught me and so requested to wash under-body alone. Turns out, the check list print out stood out inside the workshop and I noticed they reading through my points which are far better than typical SA's scribbling. It also ensured they did not do any of their regular stuff (like washing, topping up of wiper fluid etc) and adhered to my special requests.

Spotted this red beauty while waiting:

And this hot white Tigor:

And some Tiago friends too. BTW, these gentlemen are watching the car wash process:

That's all folks. Happy motoring [drive].

Buddy, Do you have pics of a modified Tiago? In your circle / group? Also, doesn't the heavy tail light tint cause issues while braking in daytime?

Regards

Akash
Akash ji, I can search my phone backups for moded Tiago pics. If you are part of FB Atom Club, the photos section will also fetch you a decent number of photos.

The tail light tint just looks pitch black but lets decent amount of light to pass through:

@Prabhagar, now only if the roof is painted gloss black your hatch would look real hot (after having glossy orvms and sexy alloys) [:)]

Prabhagar you really take good care of your car, right to the last detail during your service, and to provide a TO DO print out, [clap]

Yes, what you heard is partially correct, below are the differences noticed by a to-be XZA owner during his PDI today:
1. No under-hood insulation.
2. 13" spare wheel vs 14".
3. No parcel tray strings.
4. No boot lamp, it was replaced with a dummy.
Hi prabhagar, do you know anybody in your circle raised the issue of parcel tray and boot lamp with TATA motors? I am waiting for my TIAGO and will raise the issue through fb & twitter once I confirm. Let's see what they have to say.

Hey bro, I have seen a couple of orange Tia with black roof in my city but somehow it's not pleasing to my eyes. But I have plans to apply carbon fiber wraps to ORVMs, B and C pillar black parts (same as Ankit Dixit on our FB group). May also black out door handles soon [:)].

Thank you Vinod sir. To be honest, I printed it for my reference but then decided to hand over to them if at all that helps. Turns out they really appreciated this time as opposed to bad mouthing owners behind our backs (from dashcam recordings).

No Hari I have not heard of a complaint from owners on these cost cuttings. I am sure TML will respond with some legal document saying features are subject to change without notice [frustration].

Re: Tata Tiago Petrol XZ - A Layman's Review: Third Service Update

Hi, wanted to know if you guys have the following issues with your Tiago:
*The driveside airvent pushes out warm air when AC is on, This is not at the extreme end of Blue but say quarter way up. rest of the vents send out cool air.
*Rev Needle doesn't turn Red at redline.
Any updates on the warm air from driver side vent ? i have the same problem.

Re: Tata Tiago Petrol XZ - A Layman's Review: 20,000 Kms Update

Hi Prabhagar and other Tiago owners and other motor enthusiasts.
Do you have this problem of AC throwing warm air from the driver vent side and cold air from the middle and left vents. this i find it evident when i keep the temperature knob somewhere between 10 clock to 12 clock.
I have a temperature difference of more than 7 °C

I took it for first service and noticed this after that. not sure if it was due to it as i have asked them to check the AC fully as there was no air coming out one day but the blower sound was present, inspite of me changing all the settings and knobs. However it was fine the next day.

I took the car to service station in Ambattur, chennai. first question was what is the purpose for me to keep the knob in that position [frustration]. They were trying to convince me its normal behavior and the air temp is almost same . And after 4 hour i insisted them to bring the temperature gauge and show me. had a tough time making them understand [anger]

It showed a reading of 21°C and the right side kept increasing beyond 27.8 °C and they removed the gauge.

They said it is normal. i dont buy that. i asked them to send a mail with the readings and it is normal. they denied they cant mention the readings but did not send a mail yet.

Should i escalate this ?
Here is a video showing what i mean(10 °C difference). Your inputs will be helpful.

Hi andrew,

I am not owning tiago yet. I am not here on the issue you are mentioning. I have seen your location as chennai and wanted to know the OTR and which dealer you have bought the car from.
