Re: Tata Tiago Petrol XZ - A Layman's Review: Third Service Update

Hi friends,
Booked TIAGO XZA striker blue. Thanks for your valuable advice and reviews here. It will take two to three weeks to deliver.
I decided to take insurance outside which saves some money. Dealer charges 6500 towards handling charge and they are not ready to reduce it.
In the meantime I am preparing a list necessary accessories which I should buy. Can you suggest some essential accessories.
Congrats @Hari, nice color choice, your's will be the second XZA on TAI, after @tejrocket.

Do give us the price break up.

Regards

Congrats Hari. Hope you have checked with other dealers if they are not charging handling charge. Nice choice of color in between. It has become my favorite color now which grows on you. There is a thread on Tiago accessories do check out.
Here in trichy we have only one tata dealer. So can't check handling charges with others. Any how I have msged tata motors through twitter & FB regarding this. They asked for dealer details and I have given the details. Let's see what happens.

Crossed 20000 KM milestone during Kodaikanal trip last weekend (travelogue on its way). Missed to click on 20K mark but this fancy number came to rescue [:)].
Fourth service is due in a week's time so I will post more updates after that.

Came across a news of accident involving TATA TIAGO . Inside car including dashboard was intact after accident. But Driver and passenger died because they have not wearing seat belt. Link https://motoroctane.com/features-stories/95433-tata-tiago-accident
One thing most people(atleast me) are unaware is that airbags are nor deployed if seat belts are not used. Both are interlinked.

Always wear seat belts

Hi Hari,
I would like to clarify some points from the post you shared:
1. The Tiago pictured in the post is a non-airbag variant (XT) and they have no reason to talk about airbags in this context, unless it's an optional variant (which has low probability).
2. I personally know a couple of Tiago crashes where airbags deployed even when seat belts were not worn. Not that I advocate skipping seat belts but this is something to be aware of.
Whether airbags equipped or not, seat belts increase our safety by and large. Always buckle up.

This is something new to me. I always thought that Air bags wont deploy unless you are wearing a seat belt. Airbags without seat belt can be more fatal because of the speeds at which they deploy. Will do some "googling" to get the details

Hi,
I heard that latest tiago cars come without parcel tray and boot lamp. Is this true? I am waiting for my car but worried of some recent changes in the car like different size spare wheel and now regarding parcel tray and boot lamp.

Yes, what you heard is partially correct, below are the differences noticed by a to-be XZA owner during his PDI today:
1. No under-hood insulation.
2. 13" spare wheel vs 14".
3. No parcel tray strings.
4. No boot lamp, it was replaced with a dummy.

Hi prabhagar, so parcel tray is there but no strings. Right?
What is this 'underhood insulation'? What is effect if it is not there?

Yes Hari parcel tray was present, just the strings missing. Under hood insulation is a sheet that is attached to the underside of bonnet to aid with noise reduction. I believe this change was done only to petrol Tiago's and Diesel variants still came with the insulation.
