Got a PDF file which mentions the revised and improved service intervals for the XUV5OO. The PDF is an official bulletin issued by M&M to all its A.S.S.

It mentions the need for revision as -

1) Lower cost of ownership to customer
2) Customer feedback
3) Sustainability

All XUV5OOs, irrespective of when they were manufactured are eligible for this revised service interval -

  • Engine oil: First change @5000 kms, and then after every 20000 kms
  • Oil filter: First change @5000 kms, and then after every 20000 kms
  • Air filter: Every 40000 kms
  • Fuel filter: Every 20000 kms
  • Coolant: 80000, then 140000 and then every 60000 kms
  • Tranxaxle oil: 20000, 100000 and then every 80000 kms
  • Brake fluid: Every 40000 kms or 2 years, whichever is earlier
  • Clutch Fluid: Every 40000 kms

Service interval is every 10000 kms, irrespective of time.

Now, I am not sure about the Storme, but as far as I know about the Safari 2.2, I know it requires:

  • Engine oil: Every 15000 kms
  • Oil filter: Every 15000 kms
  • Air filter: Every 45000 kms
  • Gearbox oil: Every 90000 kms
  • Transfer case oil: Every 45000 kms
  • Clutch fluid: Every 30000 kms or 2 years, which ever is earlier
  • Brake fluid: Every 30000 kms or 2 years, which ever is earlier

It wont show the health of your turbo. Get your car checked at the A.S.S. for that.

Does you car emit excessive black smoke? Or have you encountered a tremendous power loss? I personally feel your car's turbo is alright.

I would say - relax, dont look for problems in the car. I myself stopped doing that.
Yeah, I hope everything is fine and the same is what the RM also said.
Have not noticed too much of black soot at the exhaust yet, will keep an eye on that henceforth...

Take the car to an empty highway. Accelerate to about 70-80 kmph in 6th gear and set cruise control at that speed.
One more question Raj, Why do you say accelerate to 70-80KMPH for the FE check?
Usually we hear about the best FE performance at 45 to 55KMPH, correct?
Am I missing something here..?

that 45-55kmph criteria was for the NA petrol vehicles wherein the cars are in the topmost gear with little to no acceleration.

with turbo engines and the 6 speed gearbox , that range for the XUV for the optimal FE get pushed up futher.

PS: the 45-55kmph was a generalised speed in the old premier padmini days.

newer cars are embedded with different tuning controlled by the ECU. each car will have it own characteristic speed criteria for an optimal FE.

Superbad is right.

With a high torque engine and a 6 speed transmission, you would be lugging the XUV's engine at 45 kmph in 6th gear... not good for FE.

XUV does 65 kmph at 1000 rpm in 6th gear, which means it does 60 kmph in idling! Hence, according to me, 60-70 kmph in 6th gear is good for testing FE.

I dont think therz a problem with your turbo, Mr Hacker. When the rpm is below 1800, the turbo (even the VGT) wont generate enough boost. Even if you open the throttle (fully), car will accelerate at a snails pace. To get around this drop down a gear.

Storme interior has better quality and understated elegance than the XUV.
Storme exterior looks are acceptable while I personally hate the overdone design of the XUV!
Storme is not good VFM when compared to XUV.
But Storme is best for comfort and highway cruising (though not so efficient).
XUV is not good in handling and stability.
ASS of Tata is an issue.
So Verdict is I wouldn't go for either of these cars. But I have liking for the Storme and Aria.

Got my safari's seat covers installed today...loving the new dress put on it.
Also done with hydro polishing.

Well well !!The beasts doors were open and i was making my payment to the shopkeeper and guess what.., A young couple came out of their 4 day old orange top spec ecosport and apparently instead of going directly inside the shop came near my storme and started praising it.[;)]
Then not even 5 mins a white shirt with a thick gold chain guy coming out of his pearl white xuv w8 and instead going inside the shop, saw my beast and started inquiring the people who were fitting the seat covers for who is the owner of the storme.I saw him from inside the shop and when i came out he asked me if it was mine and told me"The storme looks awesome and HUGE".[:D]He even praised the interiors.
Well for that moment he forgot his xuv for sure and i bet if at that given point if he was to buy an suv he would surely go for "storme"

Compared even to the Safari!
I would suggest driving both back to back.

Great.

Good to know the Storme gathers so much attention. [roll]

Who said it turned turtle? Its just that Dynamics and handling of XUV is not as good and stable as the Storme...especially on the highways. It bounces quite a bit more than the safari on bad roads.

You are mixing ride quality with handling and stability.

what about highways?
at high speeds it is quite stable as posted early in the video.

DJ bro, the XUV is more rigid than the Storme. This is an inherent characteristic of the monocoque construction vs the body on ladder construction.
