Nopes, it is not Value For Money.

This is subjective.

Mumbai-Shirdi & Mumbai-Pune is intercity? I have done it in the 3rd row.

But there is no luggage in this case. And it doesn't matter for Mumbai-Pune but Mumbai-Shirdi is uncomfortable in last row for sure especially with the time & bad road.

How does it differ if you are hiring a Innova? Why not better buy it?

Do you buy entire theatre if you are going to watch movie ??

I would rather buy Chevy Cruze & rent Innova/scorpio etc. And in any case, rents for innovas etc. is far cheaper than Altis/Cruze & they are available in any street/agent.

* rent an innova every time we have to go for inter city trips (once or twice a year)
* rent an innova every time the full family has to travel within the city (once or twice a month)

But, we should not -

* buy an innova for the same price of the sedan & travel in our own car in the 3rd row
* keep minimum luggage in the boot

I was showing the scoop pics to my younger brother, who is a great Safari fan and trying to gaze his reactions about these changes Tata have incorporated in new Safari.He really was impressed with this new front, and quite satisfied with the side, his only grouse was with the tail, and that not its LR inspired flat design,, but the point that Tata have removed the spare wheel away from it.Overall he liked the first looks and gave it a thumbs up.Now only 7 days left before its launch, am realy excited ,just can not wait till 6th January.

but i want to take my vehicles to ROhtang and Leh Laddakh, so isnt it a good idea to buy 4x4 for those few trips where it matters most. Just a thought only or will 4x2 be enough to propel through these no mans land...

i don't think so even 4X4 version will be able to do 4X4 paths . For that get SUV which are born to do that paths as one of person who has visited leh 4X4 paths said that you need 4X4Low in some places usually people don't visit those area at all

As far as the new Safari is concerned I really hope Tata launch it with 3000 cc engine ,with proper 4x4 , low ratio mechanism with LSD lock mode!

we can do almost all leh paths trip in 4X2 no problem check our own member did in scorpio 4X2 even raid de himalayas no different . if you see in X-Treme people are told to bring 4X4 reason official know you can get stuck in 4X2 unless you have 2 or more car as backup which can pull out .

Even me too was planning leh trip this year and i made sure i don't visit 4X4 paths in my 3.0 because in 4X2 mode you tire will dug in no time . unless you want to end look like poor innova neighbour which got stuck at starting of 4X4 paths and it took 6hrs for him to get out as hardly any person visit those area

Very bad news guys, yesterday went to the local Tata dealership of my town, the UV DEPT. Head , Mr. Rajesh informed me that Merlin only would be displayed at Expo, the market launch will take place in May or June,damn Tata motors, still delaying when the competition is having a hey day.

That was expected! Nothing new. Usually it takes 2-3 month after an Auto-expo launch for a vehicle to hit the showrooms. Infact I willbe surprised if this does'nt happens.:)

Dear I have already made this trip thrice,once in a Pajero,then in my Innova and third time in a Swift ZXi and be assured if you take the way via Rohtang then there is no need of 4X4 throughout the entire way.
There are some snow covered sections and some streams flowing over the road at some places but if your driver is good then no problem at all.
About the Raid E-Treme way,its a tough track and is quite different from the main road to Ladakh via Rohtang.
In other words,if you have a 4X4 then its great else a 4X2 will also work easily ,only driver needs to be quite skillful,a novice driver on those roads will be dangerous weather the vehicle is 4X2 or 4X4.
See,you need to be on the right path of your car is 4X2 and no problem will come but if you go off the road then it may present some serious problems.

as i said earlier i am not talking about normal tourist roads . only 4X4 paths( or freak people like me who likes to visit and see everything ) but yes reaching leh is no problem most of roads are completely recently confirmed by friend who visited

BTW did you get chance to visit dungati or fukche

I know you are looking for a more powerful engine in Safari this time, there are rumors that a deep bored version of 2.2 VTT, read a 3.0 lt engine has also been tested in Merlin, what if Tata launches Merlin with this 3 LT engine developing around 170 HP , what say buddy?
