Re: Scoop! New Tata Safari (aka Merlin) To Launch Soon
In the earlier pics of the Merlin, I was actually blown away by the styling.
But now, in the second pic posted by 'S Class', it seems nothing extra ordinary. Infact, it looks more like a facelift of the current safari rather than a new model based on a new chassis. err... "hydroformed" chassis as 'The Xover' always mentions! Same doors, same roof, same pillars...
When TATA was building a new model on an all new platform, it had the liberty to do anything. Why are they continuing with the same 14 year old design? For a common man, this is just a change to the nose, tail lights & dashboard, not justified.
Safari deserves a fan following, it has got a classic styling that appeals to the heart.
Even I have some pretty nasty experiences but I wont jot it down here as this is not the right thread, we are going OT.
Rather i would not mention it anywhere as the "obsessive" fans would cringe over it. A very knowledgeable and renowned veteran once PMed me that if someone always tries to desperately defend a product or prove that it is the best by defaming others', see it as a act of jealousy rather than anything else.

My point exactly, that Safari has a fan following, but that doesn't make it a cult vehicle although it has a cult following (Read: Obsessive).
