FANTASTIC! The SUV looks awesome, especially in that shade. Totally impressed, great work TATA.

I absolutely loved the front end,waiting for the side profile (seems to be unchanged), the rear & the interiors.

But why does it have the name Safari instead of Merlin?

As per some websites, Merlin was a development name and the new name could be Tata Safari Storm or even just Tata Storm

First of all about looks = no comments.I am more bothered about how much power it produces,its pick and acceleration.Also a point of concern for me is the 4X4 system,going to be used,lets see.

But why does it have the name Safari instead of Merlin?

Unlike Indica and Sumo brand which have been diluted by their taxi image,Safari remains a brand used by the "rich and famous",so no surprises here.

No way, the name Storm is already patented and used by M&M.So Safari X2 sounds more realistic(just guessing).

Either Tata will replace existing Safari with Merlin or sell it along side with a new suffix on name. Just like Indigo and Indigo Manza. And both are still doing well.

I don't quite agree with you here,WHY?Well Aria is itself based upon hydroformed LADDER chassis right, now I know Tata haven't given Aria low ratio 4x4 gearbox, rather they have given it adapterra on demand 4x4 system right.But the point is Aria is a softroader X-over right,not meant for any serious offroading.But c'mon how can Tata be so atrocious about their Safari legacy.Today Safari stands for a lifestyle 4x4 cult vehicle,if Tata gives it on demand 4x4 won't its character would be diluted,What say?

The safari is already available in 4x2. And no reason for tata not to continue the same.

Thanks for the pics buddy .
First time seeing use of crome from head-light to headlight & not inside the grill. Nice touch, looks good. Crome ORVMs are also seen. Maybe Safari will also have Door Rub Rails in Crome too.
Anyways, I liked the looks, but still waiting to see clear picture.

Just by the front looks I am readdy with the Cheque book for the bookings to open for the Safarri's. dosent matter weather storms or merlins.

Hell no, after the Sumo/Grande fiasco, we need only one Tata Safari,two Safaris are a big no-no for me.

The side profile of the Merlin as well as current safari is the same. It is basically "almost" a facelifted/revamped safari.

Exactly, Merlin uses the current Safari's modified body(from front and rear) with the shortened X2 chassis, so in terms of looks its definitely a revamped Safari, however the mechanical changes beneath the body is what makes it such an interesting "New Launch".

Hmmmmmm, I totally Agree,

I hope TML plays it real smart and make it a Market killer for the XUV500 in terms of positioning. Like Something what Mahindra did, opened the booking with a cracker of a price for XUV500.

Wont really comment on what the price should be.

I read somewhere that Merlin was an internal name (for Tata engineers).

i dont think tata will do the same mistake of selling this new car along with its old safari. it kind of reduces the next gen car feeling. people will think more of it like a facelift. IMO Sumo Grande could have seen better sales figures if it was not given the name SUMO . And now as we all can see, tata calls it as grande. not sumo grande. hence , i dont think the old safari will be sold along side this new one.
