Like many others, I am too is excited about Merlin. It will roughly give an idea about the way TML is likely to move in future. Notwithstanding some terrible ownership report of Aria, most people will agree that this car/MUV/SUV/Xover/whatever is a big leap for TML. A leap from being a low quality VFM manufacture to a premium vehicle manufacture. But unfortunately price of Aria made an even bigger jump. So TML was caught in no man's land. In the transition from a VFM manufacturer to a quality manufacturer, they placed Aria in the in between zone. However discounts are gradually coming up- indicating that TML is learning the lessons albeit slowly.

As our market is moving from infant stage to adolescence stage, TML can no longer make their passenger cars as cheap but low quality mode of transport and yet hope to overtake Hyundai in future. They have to up the quality factor significantly but without making a similar jump in price department. Now consumer is demanding better quality at same VFM level.

So Merlin if priced above XUV would be a disaster, period. Since Aria is now being offered at 10L starting price, I hope that same will be the ending price for Merlin (meaning top model of Merlin priced at 10L).

Then it would a mouthwatering battle between TML and M&M.

Very Nicely said Nuvo. true the Major issues with TML are. ASS, right costing of vechiles and atleast major issue free vechile.
Im not sure of top end to 10L but even 12L for a top end surely makes a hit.

Man o man this car looks massive and very stylish, come on tata launch it at 8 lakhs and it will kick the butt of both cheeta as well as scorpion.

I have got few Snaps of Merlin in test.. Without masks. Looks very similar to Safari but a lot more sophisticated look.

Mods can you help me upload images plz. I am unable to find the options.

^^ It really looks updated from the FE,but the side profile should have been changed little bit.The alloys looks great!

Guys,guys,guys,these pictures have been around for quite some time,there is also a picture of merlin uncovered from back angle. But I must confess new safari's squarish front design is a far cry from current safari's curvey front , lets see how it goes at auto expo, either we would be left like this [frustration] or like this [clap]

Squarish front and back end, Squarish dual exhausts..... TML might be leaning towards a more of a Range Roveish look. Yeah the tail-lamps are bit of a disappointment(could be different on the real thing, these are just taken from Xenon).

This boy might actually look handsome and Elegant, Like all the Range-rovers. [thumbsup]

Good catch droy, but i really am surprised to see how long tata will test new safari,it has been almost 4 years since first test mule was spotted,and they are still testing while the competition is having a hey day[frustration]

As per what we have seen so far it is quite clear that this new safari's design is squarish and quirky,I think those who like classy designs may not like this,but I am also sure that this design will grow upon its critics after sometime.
