for me its not because i have experience niggle with toyota also with 8years of experience and thanks there high price maintenance its pain to keep there car if any major problem appear

i won't complain on this there engine is gem that's for sure . you must have driven innova on good road else my corolla rattle here there

I have been waiting for Merlin from Jan10. I wanted to change my Bolero for this but i was just kept waiting till now :(
Guess by this thread, I would end up with XUV. I loved the looks of this vechile but just want to see Merline in flesh atleast before i pay my booking towards XUV.(hope my wish come true).

This is right time TML should put their vechile out with a better pricing than XUV to save its market.

See dear,right now you are already somewhat annoyed because you have waited a bit too much for the Merlin but now if you book the XUV,that you are free to do and after that the Merlin is launched and it comes out to be a better and more VFM product then you will be even more annoyed and instead of loving your XUV,you will be forced to love the Safaris of others.
So wait till the auto expo,or be just at your decision that you like the XUV and get it booked.

I have waited almost an yr so waiting for couple more months should satisfy self and make my mind happy on my decision with the end results.

Sure, Tatas are taking lot of time for Merlin, but you also need to see that they were very busy with other stuff:-

First Nano, then Nano 2012, acquisition of JLR, launch of this in India, assembly of these cars/SUVs in India, setting up dealer network for JLR in India, increasing capacity of the plant in UK etc. They also launched upgraded versions of existing models, Vista-Sedan class, Manza Elan, Grande MK2, Venture, new 1 ton truck to compliment ace, World truck launch post Daewoo acquisition etc. And post launch of XUV & the immense love for Safari brand, I think Tatas are in mode to launch something which will shake the entire market, the way they did with entry level sedan- Manza.

So as per the Rumors Merin is placed at 14laks, So we should be expecting that level of reliability and refinement.

Safari will compete with high end Scorpio & W6 XUV. I think it will be priced between 8.5-12L.

High expectations..

Similar high expectation were seen before the launch of Nano and Aria.
But unfortunately Aria is almost Dud and nano couldn't make it upto quarter of What it was supposed to .
Chances are Tata will repeat history.
Presently Tata's reputation against Mahindra's is critical .

I wonder why they give such weird camouflage; to get the attraction or something seriously wrong somewhere?

Such camouflages with illusionary patterns are useful if we look from the point of view of the company. They optically hide out most of the detailing on the body. You must have seen them usually on high-end cars. I’m yet to see a Porsche disguised with cheap cloths. [;)]

I have a strong feeling that the new Safari Merlin would be nothing but a regular Safari with some make up around.which wont be accepted by the SUV enthusiasts. The current SUV has been around with similar face since a decade, so a minor facelift wont help the Safari reclaim the glory which it enjoyed at the time of its launch.

My 2 cents to tata - give the merlin a range rover evoquish front (atleast some cues from it ) and make it radical - step out from the conservative design language and give a decent feature list even even if not as many gizmos as XUV -offcourse price it well learn from the XUV. and Most importantly improve the service experience!!
Now tht would heat up the sub 15 lakh SUV market..

Yes buddy you are quite right, the merlin does use current safari's body with tweaked front and back.The major difference will be Aria chassis with improved ride/handling manners and better interiors,also a more powerful engine [:)]
