Thats because every individual has his own choice, so sir... just because you hate mahindra & have tagged all their vehicles crappy, without even sitting in it, dont expect other "sensible & practical" people to do so...

Again, a sensible individual will first wait for the merlin to launch & then comment how the market will react to it.

Then you mean that people are also crap when they buy an Mahindra?
If Mahindra was crappy then how did they manage to be at a top seller in the country in the SUV segment and why not TATA? even if they go neck-neck competition?

but as a car the MERLIN will beat XUV black amd blue.

The yet to come model of Xover doesn't have flair.Even old scorpio is better

Just sat in Mahindra XUV 500. The mid row leg room is good, but the driver seat is very poor. The contours of the back of the seat were curved too inside, because of which my back was not being supported properly.
For mid row, I found the door of the Innova to be better to ingress-egress than XUV 500, ofcourse, not a major issue though. Being front wheel drive, the hump of the axle wasn't there, which was good. The rear view mirror gives complete vision of all the seats at back.

As far as Merlin Safari is concerned, I feel that the front side has lot of scope for improvements & I didn't expected this look especially after Tata bought Land Rover. Same is the case with Aria, looks like blown up Manza from front.

Personally, I like the current Safari with spare tyre on the back-door, it was its USP as not a single MUV/SUV had spare wheel there. The good part would be the rear visibility would be improved, which is poor in current Safari.

Btw, does anyone has info about the engine of Merlin ? I hate the current 2.2 dicor.

sorry to disappoint you then, it will have same engine of ARIA with dual mass flywheel.

If 4x4 is available in all versions, then what about the pricing factor?.I think they should release one base model with 2WD to compete against scorpio EX.

If 4x4 Merlin is priced at the price of XUV 500 W6, it may dent some impact on W6, especially those who are on tight budget for 4x4.

Just hope that Merlin too comes with most of the goodies of Aria in terms of saftey. Integrated GPS should be there for atleast top end version.

Btw, does any one has update whether Merlin will have projector headlamps ?

I think Merlin will be priced in such a way that it will eat into top versions of Scorpio & W6 of XUV 500. This will mean that Aria will need to slog it around only with 500 W8.

[clap]. Any updates about option of Xenon headlights ? I know it looks remote possibility, but it is high time now that car manufacturers start offering this atleast optional.

Time for me to set the records straight, there is a lot of mis-conception about MERLIN in our community, guys suppose that it comes with ARIA like on demand 4x4 drivetrain, but even then it will be not sensible on our part to call it a soft-roader like mahindra XUV, the Merlin still will be based on ladder chassis and would be as tough even in off road terrain as the current Safari dicor.And tata as per my sources are looking to equip Merlin with real 4x4 mechanism like that of current Safari. Hope it clears all doubts about Merlin. Also wait till delhi auto expo for further answers,cheers.
