Re: Tata Safari 3.0 Dicor: Burnt, Recovered and Reclaiming @88,000 Kms

OT :
Why suddenly you have taken the decision to sell the car ?
Actually, I am not enjoying this car as much as I enjoyed TCIC. This does'nt means that this car is giving me problems, it is running fine with regular TATA DNA niggles that are ought to appear for a Tata owner. I plan to buy a 4x4 TCIC Safari after selling this. This decision is not sudden, it has been in my mind since long time.

Re: Tata Safari 3.0 Dicor: Burnt, Recovered and Reclaiming @91,000 Kms

I went to my local electrician today, and he just changed the "Temperature T", both the fans stopped and the check engine light is gone now. The "Temperature T" used was second hand and the mechanic took 200 Rs for it and 150 Rs labour. Although, I could'nt check if the fans start working when the temperature reaches half mark, thanks to the rainy season the temperature needle refused to climb above 1/4th whatever I tried.

P.S: The AC gas needs tobe refilled there is no cooling and everything which runs under AC system is alright from mechanicals to electricals, got it checked today, another 1500 Rs gone for AC gas.

@samdinkar: Might not be the case if 3.0L motor is used to its full potential. This engine, in its current state, is a very capable horse and can easily make others eat dust if perfectly tuned. I can feel the horses of this engine being tapped down due to reasons known to Tata, Its just the tuning not going perfect. Otherwise, a 2.2 is nothing, remember "Nothing can replace Displacement!"

The clutch oil was leaking and the service @96K was also due so gave the car for servicing, 2 days ago, infact I just returned from Nathdwara trip.
The slave cylinder was changed alongwith oil, oil filter, diesel filter and some general check-ups. The total cost came tobe 7K INR.

What about the selling plans? Indore is a crowded city with disastrous traffic. I hope you manage to find a buyer for your lumbering giant soon. Have you posted any classifieds?

So far, I have actually not got the time to search for a good replacement TCIC Safari for this vehicle. So, as for now the vehicle is with me and this might be the case untill I begin the hunt and find a good old Safari.

Performing just fine, no problems. Yeah, have kicked-off the plans to sell Safari, am looking forward to put it for some 2.5L kms and then sell it off nearly after some 2-3 years. Will try and post the pictures, I rarely wash the vehicle, once every Sunday, hence it becomes too dirty a vehicle tobe captured into frame.[frustration]

@mercedised: Have you kept a record of expenses made on your Safari till date? It would be of great help to prospective Safari owners if you could post them here.

How is the engine performance at the 1.15 lakh figure? Does it accelerate smoothly? What about the NVH?

12.5k for Safari suspension overhaul is a good bargain. What exactly did they do to the suspension? Can we have a list of replaced components?

2.5 lakh kilometres. Ambitious plan. I feel the 3.0 litre block can take it provided you do not face any major component failure that Tata would not be able to replace for you.

Please keep this thread updated.
