I think prices of Nano has silently being increased. I can see on road prices have gone up by 10-15K in Bangalore from Mar 13 prices.

Is the 2013 version launch nearing ?

Speculations are that Tata is going to release this version with along with the CNG version, i see the price being hiked for nano.

Surprisingly there is no press release from Tata about this price hike of Nano. No other model prices have been touched.

Looks like one! But still doubtful cos the front space would be very limited for the engine to be accommodated into.

In present day nano the boot is in rear too. Only thing is it is accessible from inside only by removing the back seat. As the engine lies below the floor of the boot, I don't think there will be technical difficulty to make the back lid openable. AFAIK the fixed back door was a cost cutting measure to reach the one lakh target. There will be no need to shift the engine to front.

Oh I always thought that there was no boot except for the front where the spare tyre is placed.
But then how much of space is it? Can it accommodate some small size travel bags in it?

Tata nano car is less expensive when compared with other cars and hence this car runs in diesel and saves more money. So people give more preference to buy this car.

Tata’s highly anticipated diesel variant of the Nano is currently undergoing tests, but a launch date is still uncertain.

As is evident from the pictures, the front end of the diesel Nano features a revised bumper that incorporates a bigger air inlet for better heat dissipation, along with rounded foglamp. Other than that, the car’s front end looks similar to the 2013 Nano launched recently. At the rear, the exhaust pipe gets moved to the left and there is also an openable rear hatch, missing on the current car. The shape of the rear honeycomb grille mimics the one up front.

Tata is currently focussing on pricing the diesel Nano competitively to retain its value-for-money positioning. Another challenge is bringing noise and vibration levels down to acceptable levels before launch.

Currently, the Nano is rolled out from Tata’s plant in Sanand, Gujurat, which is operating at less than 20 percent of its total annual production capacity of 2,50,000 cars. The diesel Nano is expected to provide a production boost when it finally gets the green light.

I have been tracking the developements for Nano and I can say that if Nano is going to release its diesel variant in the market then it may mark the end of Maruti era in the small to mid segment cars. The reason being eventhough currently maruti 800 seems to better option then Nano Diesel but then again the features like air bags and the improved bumpers will definitely attract the customers. And then its just the speculations about the few features who knows Tata may be planning to come up with many more features.

I am also desperately waiting for this diesel model for office commute is which 60-65km everyday and I feel hard to negotiate Ertiga is some heavy traffic. I will even book this with test drive and do not care how does it look. If it can fetch a great fuel efficiency then it will be boon for weekdays even I am okay with two seater Nano.

Hello Ertiga_Zmr you are very right even I am working in one of the metropolitons and god it really irritates me when just because of i20 I get stuck in the mid of the traffic. But then again you know we might have to wait for some more time as I was talking to one of the dealers for booking and he suggested me that Nano Diesel might be launched in 2014 expo so there's still some time before our dreams come true [glasses]. Just wanted to let you know that online booking for Nano is starting soon[:)]
