Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata, who had admitted that Nano 'wasted an early opportunity', has not given up hope on the small car, saying it has enormous potential "throughout the developing world".

"The fundamental economies of the Nano will continue to establish itself in the Indian market with a wider sales and service network," he said in the Tata Motors' Annual Report for 2011-12.

After the global acclaim, when it was unveiled in 2008, Nano was plagued with start-up roadblocks in the state of West Bengal, Tata said.

Bullish on the prospects of the success of Nano, not only in India but also in other similar global markets, he said: "The potential market for such an affordable car is enormous throughout the developing world."

He said in 2011-12, sales of the Nano increased over the previous year, although the overall passenger car sales of Tata Motors "were below expectations".

Last fiscal, Nano clocked sales of 77,989 units as against 70,433 units in the previous year, up 10.73 per cent. Sales in the domestic market stood 74,527 units, while exports were at 3,462 units in 2011-12.

In January, Tata admitted that Nano had 'wasted an early opportunity' due to teething problems.

He had also asserted that the very concept of Nano was a robust one stating: "The launches of similar small cars by others vindicate our belief that this segment was missing in the product line."

Ford must be really frustrated on why they sold JLR :D.
Jag XJ, one of the most sexy looking saloons seen & perhaps the best till date designed by Jaguar.

I don't think so, Ford had their own mess which need's to be sorted out and the cash received in return of selling these brand's kind of helped Ford to stay afloat and moreover every Jag and LR still comes with the Ford Engine so they are still getting some business out of these brands.

In my views every Jaguar is special, they always stand out of the crowd. In fact the Beemers,Mercs and Audis look older, cheaper in front of Jags and same is with their road presence.

BTW,should I admire Mr.Ratan Tata that he manged the JLR which was a loss producing company for Ford to return back into profits? At least LR.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

Tata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata has stepped down from the board of Italian car maker Fiat SpA after serving the company for six years as an independent director.

Tata joined the Fiat board in 2006, a few months before the two companies announ-ced an industrial joint venture in India for joint manufacturing and marketing of cars.

An email reply from Tata Sons spokesperson stated, “Ratan N Tata was on the Board of Fiat SpA, at their invitation, in his personal capacity. He stepped down from their Board in April this year to reduce his engagements.”

At the time of appointment Tata’s name was proposed by the Agnelli family,
which then controlled IFIL, a company that held 30 per cent stake in Fiat Spa. He was one of the three independent directors appointed then and remains the only Indian to serve on the board of the Italian auto giant.
On the sidelines of the 11th Auto Expo held in Delhi in January, Tata had evinced interest in continuing on the boards of non-Tata companies, including Fiat and US-based Alcoa. The 15-member Fiat board has eight independent directors

Well, S Class has its own charm, while Jag XJ has its own.
Look it this way :-

S Class is your GF/wifey when you take her to temple or family functions,
Jag XJ is when you take your GF/wifey for partying. [;)]
Same lady, altogether different looks for different occasions.

And yes, I love Jag XJ, infact, it is the second on list after S Class. BMW 7 Series & Audi A8 can only dream of coming anywhere close to this.

One of my neighbor is consulting me for his new car purchase. It will be either Free Lander, Jag XF (younger sibling of XJ) or new BMW 3 series. If I happen to go to Ace Perkins (Pune dealer for JLR) with him, I will surely take some snaps of XJ.

BTW, have you seen XJ-Ultimate ?? It is like business class on wheels with all goodies & comes in long base variant only (XJ-L). S Class, ofcourse remains, first class.[glasses]

Enjoy the pic below.[:)]

Sadly this thread also features TATA's growth from dwarfs to giants. But of late as you can see they are completely stagnant. That's why this thread is also not moving forward.[cry]
