Prima is a product from Tata’s subsidiary called
Tata-Daewoo.And what is Tata-Daewoo is as follows:-
'Tata Daewoo-Korea (officially Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company, Korea) is a commercial vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea and owned by Tata Motors. It is the second-largest heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer in South Korea.
The company as established in 2002 as Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Co. Ltd, after it was spun off from parent Daewoo Motor Co. Ltd. In 2004 it was acquired by Tata Motors, India's largest passenger automobile and commercial vehicle manufacturing company. Tata Daewoo has CKD Projects in India and Pakistan. Tata Daewoo-Korea and Afzal Motors-Pakistan signed a Technical Assistance Agreement on 12 December 2005 in Pakistan. The CKD Plant of Afzal Motors in Pakistan was inaugurated by Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Shaukat Aziz on 8 January 2007. Afzal Motors is assembling a wide range of Daewoo Commercial Vehicles including Daewoo Prime Movers, Daewoo Truck Chassis and Daewoo Dump Trucks. The Tata Daewoo trucks has a huge consumer base in South Korea, Middle East, Africa, North and South America, Far Eastern Countries India and Pakistan. Tata Daewoo and Afzal Motors managed to sell over 2500 Daewoo Trucks in Pakistan in few years only. Now Tata Daewoo and Afzal Motors are in final stage to export Daewoo Trucks assembled in Pakistan to Middle East and Central Asian Stats. Daewoo Trucks are being sold across the globe under the Daewoo and Tata Daewoo as well.
Tata Daewoo has privilege to be only Korean Company producing Heavy Duty Righ Hand Drive Trucks. Recently Daewoo has launched a new series with the name "PRIMA" with engine over 500 horse power being the highest engine powered vehicle in Korea.
Tata Prima is a range of heavy trucks produced by Tata Daewoo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors of India. It was first introduced in 2008 as the company's
'global' truck.
The trucks have a combined loading capacity of 40 tonnes, ideal for heavy duty shipment.The interior of the Prima is equipped with modern features like GPS, air conditioning, 4-way adjustable driver and co-driver seats, etc.
The first in line of the Prima trucks is the Prima 4028S tractor with a 266PS Cummins ISBE engine bearing a 9 speed ZF transmission. The tractor also has ABS and dedicated axles along with a trailer to aid in heavy goods transportation. Besides focusing on the mechanics, the tractor also focuses on driver comfort which include an air-conditioned cabin with reclining seats, arm rest and an adjustable steering wheel. Global Positioning System (GPS) is a standard feature. There are ten major variants in the Prima range which include trucks, tractors and special application vehicles.

Tata Motors’s Prima truck range has been conferred with a prestigious South Korean award – the Grand Prize of 2009 Good Design Selection of Korea. Following the launch in India, the Prima truck range has been introduced in South Korea by Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary in the country.
Besides winning the Grand Prize, the Prima range can now also sport the prestigious 'GD' mark, recognised across South Korea as a mark of excellence.
“Good Design Selection”, organised by the Korean Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP), is a certification system to recognise excellence in design, functionality, quality and safety. The selection process is jointly administered by South Korea's ministry of knowledge and economy (MKE) and the KIDP.
