Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

So this thread is waiting for the launch of Safari even more than we people are doing.
Not only Storme but other products like Manza Hybrid,Nano variants,Vista Sports, and the dollops of commercial vehicles which they displayed during Auto Expo.

Actually what about a mini write-up of TATA launches in this year's Auto Expo?

O wow what magical picture. The German pricison standing besides British Primma Donna. Thanks buddy for the pic.

And yes would love to see some more XJ pics.Just Bring It.
Guys always remember,S-Class means just business and XJ mnaas business+sporting intentions.
Do I need to say anything else?
BTW,Both the cars are looking mind blowing in the pic.

@Xovy:Any fresh update for thread?I think now we need to bring some more pics.
Thanks [:)].

@ tsivipul,

S Class doesn't just mean business, it also means sheer comfort, luxury, VFM & reliability. No doubt Jag is good but in terms of reliability, nothing beats a Merc, not even BMW or Audi.

@xovy,

Will put more XJ pics for sure.

Tata Prima is a range of heavy trucks produced by Tata Daewoo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors of India. It was first introduced in 2008 as the company's 'global' truck. The trucks have a combined loading capacity of 40 tonnes, ideal for heavy duty shipment. The interior of the Prima is equipped with modern features like GPS, air conditioning, 4-way adjustable driver and co-driver seats, etc.
The first in line of the Prima trucks is the Prima 4028S tractor with a 266PS Cummins ISBE engine bearing a 9 speed ZF transmission. The tractor also has ABS and dedicated axles along with a trailer to aid in heavy goods transportation. Besides focusing on the mechanics, the tractor also focuses on driver comfort which include an air-conditioned cabin with reclining seats, arm rest and an adjustable steering wheel. Global Positioning System (GPS) is a standard feature. There are ten major variants in the Prima range which include trucks, tractors and special application vehicles.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

Let’s take an overview of what’s inside:
10.JPG

TECHNOLOGY:

  • Cummins - ISBe engine — inline, six-cylinder, electronically-controlled 6.7 litre diesel engine with a Bosch high-pressure common rail injection system, four-valve cylinder head and rear gear train.
  • Cummins - ISLe engine — consisting of a cylinder block with integrated fluid lines, high-strength tensile steel forged crankshaft and high-durability pistons with special surface finish mid-stop cylinder liners. Other features include waste gate turbocharger, the latest engine filtration system and an in-built Jake brake.
  • ZF - 9S1110 gear box — with 9-speed manual transmission and a torque rating of 1,100Nm. Other features include a compact and light design, low installation weight and minimum noise emission, power take-off facility and a servo shift.
  • Eaton - FSO 10309 gear box — with 9-speed manual transmission and a torque rating of 1,500Nm. Other features include low-weight split aluminium housing, single rail shifting selector, minimum noise emission, power take-off facility and a servo shift.
  • RA 109 SRT – single reduction rear axle — single reduction axle has been specifically designed to support on road movement of the construction tippers. This axle not only reduces the kerb weight of the vehicle, but also reduces the transit time between destinations
  • Eaton FSO 15409 — a 9-speed manual transmission which is used for heavy duty operations especially in the mining industry. With a torque exceeding 1500Nm and a crawler gear with ratios exceeding 14, this is an ideal fit for off road applications. The gearbox comes with a power take off facility, low noise emission and a servo shift.
  • 6-rod tandem bogie suspension — with low ride frequency in laden condition. Noise-free, it consists of a pivot arrangement independent of spring friction, leading to equal transfer of load on each axle.
  • Front axle and propeller shaft — increases service intervals and reliability.
  • Rear HR 210/HRT 210 hub reduction axle — made of crown wheel pinion and epicyclical planetary gear train with five planets, and fitted with differential lock arrangements.
  • Chassis frame — uses rolled frame technology offering flexibility of manufacturing. Long members and reinforcements for all world truck models use the same set of tooling.
  • Steering system — ergonomically adjustable through pneumatically adjusted tilt and telescopic steering column, with maintenance-free components, reduces steering effort and road shock.
  • Integrated clutch and brake pedal system — provides better packaging, utilisation of space and control of ergonomics, with modularity in design.
  • Sheet metal composites — for external body parts, offers strength of steel and plastic mouldability, corrosion and dent resistance, and 30 per cent lower weight than steel.
  • In vehicle networking — interconnection of multiple, independent, distributed processors to share resources and data.

COMFORT:
11.JPG
12.jpg
13.jpg

  • Air-conditioned cab — for comfortable journeys, with space to stand and
  • move around.
  • Ergonomic sleeper and non-sleeper berths — ensure comfortable resting arrangements for up to two occupants at a time, with anti-roll system to prevent occupants from rolling over.
  • Innovative steering control — allows drivers to access audio controls, in addition to giving them full access to the instrument cluster control.
  • Instrument cluster — consisting of multi-function LED display, shows information such as the gear in which vehicle is moving, distance travelled, ambient and coolant features, fuel consumed, distance that can be travelled before the fuel tank goes empty, and other details.
  • Cab doors — with a control panel, opens fully for easy entry and exit.
  • Air suspension reclining seat — paired with adjustable steering wheel for optimum driving position, with seat belts and armrests for driver and co-driver.
  • Tracking device — that can report the vehicle position to the base station from time to time. It provides a two-way voice interaction facility.
  • All weather heating ventilation and air-conditioning system — provides comfortable climate inside the cabin to improve driver efficiency. A fully automatic temperature control also available. Cabin air quality is preserved by deployment of a pollen filter and air extractors.
  • Adequate storage compartments — to store documents, clothes and other personal belongings. Separate storage outside for clearing equipment and a separate compartment for tool kit, books and magazines.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

SAFETY:

  • Before hitting the markets, the new range of trucks have been put to globally accepted validation methods as proof of their performance and reliability.
  • 4 poster durability test or the cabin shake durability test — ensures the structural integrity of the cabin, cabin fitments and cabin suspension.
  • Accelerated full chassis fatigue test — ensures the structural integrity and fatigue life of assembly frame, suspension and axle.
  • Noise, vibration and harshness test— meets the regulatory norms across the world.
  • Climatic test — carried out in hot and cold chambers to test performance under extreme temperatures.
  • Shower test — ensures the cab is fully waterproof.
  • High power H1 and H7 lamps — for high and low beam, supported by the auto light mode, increase driver visibility. LED for rear fog, rear position and end outline marker. Illumination of steps and the door ajar lamp ensure enhanced driver safety.
  • New generation truck brakes with anti-lock brake system — for safe braking on wet roads and curves. The brakes ensure better heat rejection with better liner life and braking.
  • Jake brake — available with the Cummins ISLe 375hp engine, effectively transforms the internal combustion engine into an air compressor. The result is effective slowing of the vehicle as mechanical energy is converted to heat and then dumped.
  • Differential lock feature — ensures safety when driving on slippery surfaces. The diff lock allows the vehicle to be operated in off-road / dusty conditions.
