Low Cost Auxillary Power Unit (LowCAP)

Abstract
The project will design, model, develop and evaluate an industry first Low Cost Auxillary Power Unit (LowCAP) for Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEVs) Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC) plc, Ashwoods Automotive Ltd (Ashwoods), and University of Bath (Bath) combine to offer the set of skills to develop, evaluate and exploit the outputs in global mass market volumes. The project will result in UK intellectual property being technically and commercially tied into one of the lowest cost modern internal combustion engines (ICE) on the market which is built by Tata Motors and is anticipated to be exploited globally within the Tata Motors Group and beyond to the global OEM marketplace. The project will be focused from day one towards the low cost REEV market. The motors and controllers will be an exploitation of the low cost electric motor technology developed by Ashwoods through previous TSB funded projects involving Ashwoods and Bath. The project will see futher innovations low cost motor and inverter IP that will enable the development of a highly efficient, low cost, fully integrated, lightweight APU built from sustainable materials. Successful outputs will be sold and distributed by Tata Motors Group within their own vehicles and as a standard LowCAP unit to global OEMs.

In the GearedforGreat challenge it seems Tata cars have broken a total of 68 records out of which few are

1. Bolt: covering 3028KM in less than 24 hours
2. 10 hour record with its Bolt managed to cross 1322.70km , Tiago D with 1305.8km @TataMotors
3. to reach 1000KM
a. Tiago revotron 8:15:54 - Avg speed approx :121 KMPH
b. Tiago Revotorq 7:30:49 - Avg Speed Approx: 133KMPH
c. Zest Revotron 7:38:39 - Avg Speed : 130.8 KMPH
d Bolt Revotron 7:22:29 - avg Speed : 135.5 KMPH

Cars were running continously for that that time and more..

4. Car running for 25 hours continuosly.

tata bolt gave 1344 KM on one tank full that is tremendous 30kmpl. Petrol Bolt !!!! Any questions on Kitna deti hai? Tata should change the tag line to Kitna chahiye.
The Bolt has 35litre tank right? That means it is 38kmpl! Stunning figures from a Turbo-petrol![clap]
The Tiago twins and Falcons are doing impressive numbers! I doubt whether any Maruti car would even come close to such figures.

I read it to be 44 litre tank. So it is aroun 30.55kmpl.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

After reading all the posts in 39 pages of this wonderful thread
I salute tata motors for there excellence.
I thank the posters of this thread from the bottom of my heart for throwing light on the unseen facts about tata.
I would love to add some thing here in this great thread.
Now tata is into partnership with harman kardon which was playing music only in few premium cars like BMW, audi, Mercedes and Volvo.
It proves that tata is really trying to give the best to its customers.
The harman was even awarded with supplier of the year 2014.

TATA BOLT REVOTRON does 7911.1 km at the end of 60 hours of non-stop running endurance.

TATA TIAGO does 7991.4 km at the end of 60 hours

TATA ZEST does 7874 km in the same time.

Just spotted a board on a tweet of Adil Jal Darukhanawala

@ ZEEIGNITION

That means the the GearedforGreat challenge Endurance is due to run for a day more, i.e., 72 hours!!!

The endurance is due to end at 15000 kms that is a superb non-stop drive that shows that the engines are robust and are able to take abuse for a straight many hours of heat they generate. Brilliant engineering!!!

Other thing to note that is the outside temperatures are also not that low. They are testing in Ahmednagar which is quite hot during summer. So when we saw Audis being tested in december the temperatures are low. But this is blazing sun now. So definitely kudos to the drivers and to Tata motors for building such robust cars. I dont think any car manufacturer would have driven for 60 hours non stop. Great job.

Hope this should put an end to the Tata cars performance rant.
