New Safari Storme 400: Article By NDTV

the Tata Safari Storme recently received an update in June this year. The Indian manufacturer is now ready to launch a more powerful version of its popular SUV as there have been reports of test-mules bearing VariCOR 400 badging having already been spotted on Indian roads. The new and more powerful variant will feature a 2.2-litre VariCOR 400 diesel engine mated to a new 6-speed manual gearbox. This redeveloped engine has added 7bhp and 80Nm of torque to the Safari Storme's existing performance figures and has resulted in a 15kg increase in weight. The updated power and torque figures stand at 154.8bhp and 400Nm respectively.
The added grunt and new gearbox should improve the Safari Storme's highway and city ride dynamics. The Tata VariCOR 400 engine is also expected to find its way into the upcoming Hexa crossover. Besides the VariCOR 400 badging on its sides, the new Safari Storme should visually stay unchanged. The VariCOR 400 engine option will only be available in the top-of-the-line VX trims of both the 4x2 and 4x4 versions. The new, more powerful Safari Storme is slated to be launched in December, 2015 although the exact date is as yet unconfirmed.

ET Auto reports that Tata Motors (including Jaguar Land Rover) could showcase over 25 products at the Auto Expo 2016 in Noida, which opens its doors on February 5 for the public, and on February 3 for the media.

Along with the current range that includes the Tata Bolt, Zest, Tata Safari Storme, and GenX Nano, Tata will also showcase the recently previewed Tata Zica hatchback. As for motor show debuts, Tata will unveil the Indigo eCS-replacing Tata Zica sub-4m sedan (Tata Sway), production-spec Tata Nexon sub-4m SUV and the flagship Tata Hexa crossover.
While the Zica hatchback is expected to launch shortly, the Zica sedan is reported to go on sale in the second half of 2016. The Nexon and Hexa crossovers are rumored to arrive in showrooms following the Zica twins.

Tata-owned Jaguar Land Rover will showcase the India-spec Jaguar XE at the Auto Expo, which will initially offer a petrol engine lineup. Other products in the Auto Expo lineup include the Jaguar F-Pace crossover, 2016 Jaguar XF, 2016 Jaguar XJ (facelift) and the 2-door F-Type coupe/convertible.

For the Auto Expo, Tata Motors is expected to pull out all the stops to make it a grand showcase of Tata Motors’ vision of the future, and garner attention towards the latest product range. According to a Tata spokesperson, the company’s theme for the exhibition is “#TataMotorsSmartHub”, which is derived from the synergy between ‘Smart Technology’ and ‘Smart Products’

Tata-JLR ends 'Defender' production

It was the end of the road for the 'Defender' 4x4 utility vehicle made by Tata Motors -owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) as the luxury carmaker halted production of the iconic model at its UK plant today. The last model of the famous 4x4 off-roader rolled off the production line at JLR's Solihull plant in the West Midlands with a celebratory event for 700 current and former employees. Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, described the vehicle as the "origin of our legendary capability, a vehicle that makes the world a better place, often in some of the most extreme circumstances". "There will always be a special place in our hearts for Defender, among all our employees, but this is not the end. We have a glorious past to champion, and a wonderful future to look forward to," he said. The Defender celebration at Solihull saw more than 25 unique vehicles from Land Rover's history come together in a procession around the plant, featuring the final current Defender vehicle which came off the line. The model was launched 68 years ago and was named 'Defender' in the 1990s, being driven by British troops in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. Its famous owners include Queen Elizabeth II and former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and the model became a movie star when it featured heavily in the 1966 film 'Born Free' and with James Bond in 'Skyfall'. Nick Rogers, group engineering director at JLR, said: "It's a true motoring icon and is much loved around the world. The world has changed dramatically in the last 68 years, but this vehicle has remained a constant ' something no other vehicle can claim". More than 2 million Series Land Rovers and Defenders have been built at the Solihull plant since 1948. "What began as simply a line drawing in the sand has gone on to become one of the world's most iconic 4x4s, earning the accolade of being the most versatile vehicle on the planet, capable of taking owners to the places other vehicles couldn't reach," JLR said. Land Rover also plans to launch an online "Defender Journeys" platform, which will allow the legendary model to live-on in a digital environment.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

Tata Motors, which lost its pole position in the light commercial vehicle segment to Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) in the first eight months of the fiscal year, has reclaimed its place over the past two months. The company sold more LCVs than its nearest competitor in December 2015 and January 2016.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

This is how much respect TATA has in British media. Felt really proud, just imagine from now it will be called TATA British Grand Prix. And we in India keep running after phoren brands and feel so low in buying a TATA!
"JLR is unlikely to want to sustain something loss-making for mere kudos, but JLR is also equally unlikely to want to be seen as the company that killed the British GP. So perhaps parent firm Tata could step in as a saviour. It has sponsored the Ferrari F1 team, and could become a sponsor for the race, adding the British Grand Prix to its illustrious portfolio of British brands including Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley Tea."
Why would Jaguar Land Rover be interested in buying Silverstone? | Autocar
The article fails another major acquisition by TATA that is Corus steel.

Hi,
If Tata HEXA succeed in india, then after long time TATA can race with Mahindra on selling SUV's.
Main issue was TATA lack models in SUV Segment.

Seems more like it. They want to show the world that they are back!
Exclusive shots of production ready Hexa and hints of Nexon are visible!
Now this is some add and effort in right direction

It's an amazing add to show the world what Tata motors is all about.

I would say make it in Hindi and release it on TV channels to get the faith and sales back.

Maybe some customers telling the strong points of Tata vehicles from different areas and professions.
Cash the "make in India" concept and make India proud.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

Today is Jamsetjis 175th birthday and watching the video is an eye opener of what TATA stands and their contribution to our country. For example how many of us know that the IISC bangalore was started by this person by donating 1/3rd of his wealth but did not want the institute to be named after him. I have been to that institute in my college days and it had the very first wind tunnel facility in our country which laid the foudation to our aircraft industry in Bangalore. Really TATA you are madeofgreat!

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

how many entrepreneurs these days can boast of this. Who will do it and say i dont want my name to reflect. there is more to it.

It was Jamsetji Tata who appealed to the Japanese Steam Navigation Company to reduce freight charges, a factor which was largely diminishing his profits. Though it was for the benefit for the entire nation, Jamsetji Tata made it a point to spend his own money to get the case solved when his demands led to huge upheavals in Japan. Eventually, Jamsetji Tata did emerge successful in reducing freight charges and thereby increasing profits for Indian traders.

Of the ventures that did bear fruit while Jamsetji was alive, the Taj Mahal Hotel in Bombay has to rank highest. Legend has it that Jamsetji set his mind on building it after being denied entry into one of the city's hotels for being an Indian. His sons, friends and business associates were sceptical. His sisters chided him by asking, " Are you really going to build a bhatarkhana [eating house]?" The Taj turned out to be a bit fancier than that. By the time of its completion in 1903, it had cost Rs 4.21 crore. Soaked in luxury, it was the first building in Bombay to use electricity and the first hotel in the country to have American fans, German elevators, Turkish baths, English butlers and whole lot of other innovative delights.

can someone relate to the land rover story here. see like founder like successors. Thats what made it great. it took a man to dream that India should have a steel plant, a Scientific institute, a big hotel, and generation of hydro elctric power in which in his life time he could only come up with the Taj Hotels. so the rest of the dream was fulfilled by his sons. Great are those sons who walk in the direction thier father showed them and found happiness in fulfilling thier father's dreams.
