Re: Tata Motor’s Cars – The Ultimate Reliability Survey

Sorry for the late entry to this thread, just noticed it today. Below are my points...

1) Car model and variant - MANZA Aura ABS
2) date of purchase -2011 OCT
3) Kms travelled - 10500 Kms
4) build quality - Excellent, but there are gaps (Bonnet RHS and BOOT RHS).
5) Customer service experience - Good
6) a.s.s experience - Average (Not all the SAs are knowledgeable)
7) warranty issues - The DIS was showing ERR when tank full, got it replaced)
8) Car has been vfm - Absolutely VFM
9) issues and niggles faced so far - Front suspension noise, got it corrected in 3rd service.
10) Satisfaction levels (-/10)- 8/10

To add some more information for the benefit of other folks:

What I like about my car:
1. By God's grace my car is performing well.
2. FE - 15KMPL (20%AC) in city, before 2nd service the FE was around 13 (tank full method) and 19+ on highway(50%AC).
3. Space is the USP of the car.
4. Comfortable to drive.
5. Bluetooth feature is excellent.
6. Seat height adjustment has good reach.

Issues Faced:
In the first month of purchase, the car failed to start in my office premises [frustration]. However, the road side assistance was good. Some electrical malfunction and got is done free of charge at the service centre. They have good pick up and drop facility as well. I have used only the drop facility.

Front suspension noise while crossing humps (not on potholes). Got it corrected in 3rd service

Driver information system (DIS) shows Distance to Empty (DTE) as ERR when tank full and corrects itself after 50KM drive. Got is replaced under warranty.

One good thing is when some part is faulty then that gets replaced under warranty without any hassles [clap].

Overall, I am satisfied with the performance of the car. I believe there are some issues in all the brands. We can see the ownership reports and issues faced by the owners of VW, Hyundai, etc.

As long as the issues get corrected don’t worry much about it and enjoy your drive [;)]

^^ one question , how much was the turnaround time for replacement parts to arrive?

been hearing from many of my friends that his linea was ruined due to Tata ASS with respect to time the parts availability, ruining the car interiors etc.

was that an issue with you?

The part was readily available and they were able to replace it in the same service. 1st time when I reported this problem they said they have to get the part and then test it. Due to my time schedule I couldnt follow up. In the 3rd service it was done without any fuss.

I am feeling guilt about unfairly targetting TATA

Hello guys, I have confession to make and I feel it will make me feel better.

I purchased Tata Vista last year in November, its been great hassle-free 10 months journey so far with only 1-2 niggles which were solved permanently.

Recently car went for its third service at 10,000KM. They gave me paper to rate quality of service, from 1 to 9 in different aspects. Dunno what came to my mind I gave poor to average ratings. Now I think 'subconsciously' I am brainwashed to believe TATA provides poor A.S.S. and they can never improve. I'm saying subconsciously because at the back of my mind we Indians tend to believe all foreign brands are superior.

All this has led to very bad situation for poor guys working at my local TATA-A.S.S. Trust me guys, TATA takes your ratings very seriously now. But it was not fair on my part to give biased ratings for service of car which was running like a dream. Instead of appreciating TATA's effort of continuous improvement and customer oriented reviews, I chose to follow herd mentality. Now deep inside I feel I am very bad person, I chose to hurt poor guys working like animals for 5-6k for my pleasure.

Re: I am feeling guilt about unfairly targetting TATA

I don't know what to say. But I think you should put a mail or write a letter to service manager of your local TASS saying that your are happy and satisfied with the service provided. Although in feedback ratings given is not good, but now I think I was harsh on providing rating and if possible I want to give feedback again for my third service.

When you feel guilty of something, best thing is to accept it in front of the person for whom you are feeling the same. Although you have expressed you guilt here on TAI, but that is no way going to change what have happened to those guys.

SO go ahead and talk to TASS service manager or customer relation manager. And then you will feel lot better.

@Carcar

First of everything, I really appreciate you for your courage accepting the mistake and confessing[clap], friends just ask your self how many of us have this courage

It might be bad of giving such rating, but it is good that you have come out saying that you made a mistake. You have only think of that Service Advisor who has handled your car for that day and imagine his feelings for your rating and when his boss talks to him on that and scold him for the same[cry] you know it is very painful for that guy. Though it will not matter much for that service center or TATA that with one such rating they are not going to be effected, but again if TATA takes it seriously then, this poor Service Advisor will be a target in big or small way.

So my suggestion, if you really want to do something, just go and meet that service advisor talk to him in front of his boss and tell him the truth. I am sure you will be much relieved and you will really get very good treatment for your future services from them[:)]

Parts availability for linea is not tata motors problem it is fiat India's problem .

You said" many freinds " is that all you'r freinds who own a linea got their interiors spoiled . Or is just 1 freind on whose linea all you'r freinds are commenting ?

My case was Ironical, I gave them full marks couple of times even though they returned my car half serviced, scratches all over and dirty Interiors. I wasn't much aware how much they were supposed to be responsible My bad it was my first car experience .

Re: Tata Motor’s Cars – The Ultimate Reliability Survey

@Jayadev:
Your case seems to be critical.Maybe you need to be tight on A.S.S guys.

My experience with Tata is a bit short but it was good overall.

2006 Tata Indigo LS TDI:
  • Kms travelled:About 34000 kms.
  • build quality:Not good but still at par with competition those days.
  • customer service experience ( good ,bad, worst or excellent):Good...but definitely not excellent.
  • a.s.s experience ( good,bad,worst, or excellent):It was quite good.
  • warranty issues:Not at all, instead it feels like they loved to replace every part under warranty.
  • if the car has been vfm:It was,but still felt quite crude too.
  • issues and niggles faced so far:None, only there was rattling throughout the vehicle due to careless ownership.
  • satisfaction levels (-/10):7 or maybe 8.

2009 Tata Safari 2.2 vtt Dicor EX
  • Kms travelled:About 8000 kms.
  • build quality:I can't really comment on that(8000 kms is a bit too less) but still it was on the 'good' side but not at all fantastic.
  • customer service experience ( good ,bad,worst or excellent):Great,they always treated us(Safari owners)like kings.
  • a.s.s experience ( good,bad,worst, or excellent):Again great.
  • warranty issues:None.
  • if the car has been vfm:50-50.
  • issues and niggles faced so far:Some rattling in doors.
  • satisfaction levels (-/10):7.

At the end I'd say its not the company which is bad. They also produce good cars only the driver needs to be sensible.
A good driver can drive a Safari for 3 lac kms but a bad driver can screw even an Innova within 30k kms.
I don't know who praises or who is a critic but what I know is that my experience with Tata was on a good side and that's mroe than enough for me.Maybe throughout my life I'll never buy any more Tata and of course Mahindra too but still I can't bad mouth any manufacturer just because my experience was not that good with it.

I don't want to generalize it saying that everybody is having same experience as mine.
But in my knowledge circle there are many many people who suffered grief and have no internet to say it.most of them keep it with themselves or improvise.

That is when the Taxi service community take it and private owners looks somewhere else and that is why Tata car has good demand in pre-owned market but Value is too low.

I have been told many many times by many owners that do not take it to service center rather get it done outside, at least recurs can be prevented but I did not had guts to do that for an year old car but all the odds were against my favor so it was a bad experience overall.

Xover,

It is just my funny observation about you. Whenever some body praise a little about TATA you post is next to them and you are never seen if some body gives a little bad about TATA. If you are a true TATA fan you should be there for good and bad[:)].

No offence in any way & I really admire your passion for TATA vehicles

No offense taken mate. But that post was not about Tata vehicles in general, but it was about welcoming one of my most dear friens Vipul back.[:)]

As far as my responding to someone who has had bad experience with TATA,well I am not the thread starter so I am free to respond to whatever post I want to.Hope my will remains free.[:)]
