Re: Reliable Diesel Manza: Unpredictable But Improving TASS (50K Kms Report)

Not yet, TASS man told me to wait till 1 k km as the gear wire is new so that gear shifting gets smoothened. It seems the gear shifting is smooth now, the reverse gear is also smooth as compared to last week but I am not fully satisfied.

No reply from Tatas yet.

I am talking of the recent clutch replacement at owner's expense. I thought that was simply an instance of taking the customer for a ride. I thought, you had escalated the matter to Tata further, unless you thought it wasn't needed.

No reply from Tatas yet.
Did you try to call anybody at Tata Motors other than sending an e-mail ?

I had really wanted to meet you and see your Manza at Pune. But I guess you were busy and could not manage time.

@mu, I haven't escalated the matter except the online complaint. However, I feel that I must escalate. Now, the clutch and gear shift including reverse is smooth. Car has completed 60 kkm now, due for service. First I will talk with TATAS and then hand over the car to TASS.

@anshuman, It was one of the unfortunate days in my life as I not only missed an opportunity to visit vw plant but also see you all. It would have been great if you would have delivered a comment on my car especially clutch and gearshift.

60 k km servicing done.

60 k km servicing done today @Phoenix TASS Pune .
Bill Rs 7245, includes routine servicing +fuel filter replacement +WAWB.
Car was picked up from my workplace @10 am.
I went to bring the car to TASS. Car was handed over back to me @8pm.
Today they again tried to take my signature on satisfaction note on the job card before test drive after the servicing. When I questioned them they said," OK don't sign". When I scolded them they tried to justify it saying that it is Tata 's routine procedure [lol].

For reverse gear shifting hardness they have done some lubrication job and now it is smooth.

LHS front power window was little bit tight while opening down. They said the winding motor needs replacement. I refused it as the problem occurs only when operated with driver's switch. With passenger switch it is operating OK.There is also some friction mark on the glass which indicates some alignment issue.
I had told them to apply tie clips to the wheel plates as they often fall down especially after puncture repair jobs due to damages to the plate occued while removing them. (Thanks to govt for their motivational skill improvement schemes)
TD was taken by the supervisor & me. During TD,fuel level was at its nadir and it was blinking orange, after some time a sign in red 'ICD' appered on the DIS.
We filled in diesel and the orange blink and the Red 'ICD' sign disappeared . With only 300 Rs worth diesel the fuel level on the DIS went up above the red zone. Supervisor told me that the fuel sensor seems to be faulty and needs repair. Since it would involve opening up the fuel tank, I chose to do it some other day.

At the end of the TD, one biker overtook us and intercepted the car to tell that one of the wheel plate has fallen down somewhere. We tried to find it but couldn't find it. I said, this is why I had requested for the tie clips. Supervisor said that they must be out of stock.

At the gate, SA was awaiting us. We left for billing, I paid the bill and returned towards the car and to my surprise, I found that SA was fitting the tie clips!
I said, had he done this prior to the TD, I would not have lost the Rs 600 worth wheel plate.
I asked him to give 4 to 5 spare clips as I need them to apply after puncture repair jobs. He said, now the spare parts counter is closed. I said, I will tell the supervisor to send me few tie clips morrow. But the SA requested me to not to go to the supervisor as he might have anticipated that I might disclose the tie clip related mistake and the availability of the the tie clips to the supervisor which would lead to some impact on his salary.
. I didn't disclosed the things to the supervisor but asked him to send me one wheel plate and few tie clips coming morning.

This time wheel balancing required little more weights than the past.

One LOL thing from the bill now. Rate of the distilled water for the battery is written as ' Rs 17,777.78 / Litre'. To my luck, they have charged me Rs 17.78 for the distilled water.
SA said battery water levels were quite down and required almost a bottle. Probably it is effect of the amplifier of the new ICE. Correct me if I am wrong.

Post delivery, I drove the manza for 30 km and can say all is well.

I hope, this week I get time to call the TATAs about charges of the clutch replacement.

These tie clips are very important and I have bought a pack of 100 from electrical shops for Rs 60/- . So I carry spare with me always.

After few days ,I found that the stock HU is not producing satisfactory and sound quality compatible with the upgraded speakers and basstube.Hence I went for a budget HU upgrade.

Re: Reliable Diesel Manza: Unpredictable But Improving TASS (50K Kms Report)

Few advatages of the upgraded ICE.
1]SQ and bass quality improved 4times over stock OE Blaupunkt music system.
2]New component speakers ,amplilifier ,and basstube can be removed at the time of resale and can be used for new car.Dealer has promised me a buy back for the new hu at the time of car replacement.

A disadvantage -
1]Steering mounted audio controls cant be used now,new HU new is not compatible with them.

Of course I did not find the stock HU not at all good. Hence I went for Aqua(now LS) model and not Aura (now LX). So I added my Custom ICE. Me also waiting for some Vitamin M so want to add Amp and Bass Tube.

Re: Reliable Diesel Manza: Unpredictable But Improving TASS (50K Kms Report)

Few things learnt on Internet.
OE clutch has warranty for 35000 km. If a new clutch is fitted then warranty is for 6 months.
So if clutch feels hard, get it replaced before the warranty limit, Do not fall prey to 'lubrication 'and 'air removal ' gimmicks of TASS so as to avoid warranty expiry.

@anshuman, rather than going for Bass tube /subwooferbox, I would adviceyou to go for high RMS components & ccoaxials powered by amplifier. They also produce good quality.
Bass subwooferbox meant for hardcore bass lovers IMO.
I opted for basstube because few songs(not all songs sound good on basstube, however bass experience of 270 w infinity component speakers is awesome if basstube is switched off) which I like sound better with boom boom of the basstube.

But sometimes I feel, rather than going for basstube, I should have gone for 6 ch amp instead of 4ch amp leaving chance for addition of amp powered coaxials and basstube in future.

I feel the customer himself needs to be blamed partly, for not escalating any ill-treatment received at A.S.Ss to the Manufacturer, allowing dealerships to take customers for ride.

As a senior TAian, I expected a better intend from you to escalate the “gear thing” in time to Tata Motors.
