Re: After One Year - Manza Ownership Experience

Hehe same with me. I cross them at 40kmph and the car (H City) just flows over them!
Cheers.
Dear lxi,

When I wrote glide through humps/speed breakers, what I meant was negotiating them smoothly. Doing it in 3rd gear but only at a speed of 20 kmph or even less.

Never speed through the humps/speed breakers because they are there for a purpose (eventhough they are without purpose and out of place in some roads in our country).

No problem, I drive sanely. Just some of the mouth watering roads have small speed breakers between them ! :(

Re: After One Year - Manza Ownership Experience

After indulging for one year, thought of what is good about Manza and What is not good.

What is good about Manza.

1.Space
2.Comfort
Sitting inside a Manza is so comfortable - whether its short time or
long highway drive. Its a combination of ergonomic seat design,
positioning and the over all set up.
3.Smooth Engine
4.Gear shift
5.Clutch
Smooth clutch movement and placed low unlike the old Indigo-Indica models.
6.Pick up
Pick up is good and during overtaking, even if we have to slow down due to an aggressive biker or something coming from opposite direction, we can still accelerate and go smoothly without a downshift.
7.Road presence and stance
8.Mileage or FE is very good
16 to 17 km/ltr with AC in City; 22 km/ltr with AC in highways.
9.Ride quality
10.Brakes
Brakes are excellent.
11.Interiors
Pleasant looking interiors
12.Auto door lock feature in base model.
Doors get locked automatically once we are more than 10 kmph.
13.Engine immobilizer in base model
14.Central arm rest for back seat in base model
15.Head light reach and power
16.Looks like a proper sedan. Do not get a feeling that the boot is just attached unlike the Indigo sibling and Swift Dezire. Having said that I need to add that boot styling could have been better. I am sure many (like 350z) would have put off their decision to buy just because of the orthodox boot design.
17. Ready to fit set up for electrical (accessories) and additions.
18.Acceptable handling. It may not be a great handler but it did handle well when ever situation demanded.
19.Acceptable build quality
20.Excellent paint quality.
21.Value for Money

What is not good.

1. Attitude and training levels of Sales/Showroom personnel

2.Thick A pillar and OVRM panel create a blind spot while turning – especially right turns.

3.Fit and finish could have been better

4.Two boot levers reducing the effective space utilisation if we want to stack items vertically in the boot. Not a big issue since the boot has ample space. But they could have managed to liberate more space inside the boot with a better design.

5. Fixing of some small rubber and plastic parts are not done properly.

6. Some small rubber and plastic parts are of poor quality.

I feel its lack of monitoring and control than actual cost cutting.

Lack of control rather than cost reduction.

Low level, non critical C class items must have left to the individuals rather than monitoring through the system.

7. Inadequate torque in 1st gear. (I am not sure of the technical aspects)

First gear is useful only on steep inclines.

For all other instances, 2nd gear is more useful including to move the car from standstill and also for driving in bumper to bumper stop-start traffic.

Re: After One Year - Manza Ownership Experience

When I drove Manza few months ago,I had a lot of apprehensions as I had heard plenty about the turbo lag of Manza. But I was pleasantly surprised how Manza moved forward in the 1st gear without any fuss as I released the clutch, and the engine felt as smooth as a petrol car.Though I agree that if you suddenly try to accelerate the car does take some time and once it goes past 2000 RPM,then its pure bliss:biggrin:.

Re: After One Year - Manza Ownership Experience

Last week, I was starting the car and it did not start even after trying two times. When opened the bonnet, saw diesel splashed all over. Diesel was also flowing over the paved parking area.

Fuel pipe was cut opened by a rat.

Called TASS at VAPI.

My phone call was answered by the person at TASS with a greeting.

She noted my address, car number and other details.
She wanted to transfer the call to warranty section. I told her that its a rat problem and then she said will call back after checking with the "road side assistance" people.

She promptly called back in 10 minutes and informed that the towing vehicle is on its way to my home. I told her not to send the towing vehicle and instead send a technician to fix the pipe. She consulted the Supervisor and then told me that its better to take the car to service station and uncle has left already and on his way to my home. (Uncle is the old man driving towing vehicle)

At TASS, they inspected the car immediately on arrival and prepared job card. SA asked me about any other issues. Reported that Digital clock is not working.

Nothing happened for next two hours since they do not have the pipe in stock. Since their system is down, they cannot find out stock position in Surat too. Clock is also not available as per SA - they need to replace the Instrument cluster also since they are a coming as a single unit.

I told SA that I want to go and just trust on him to fix things promptly. He assured he will do something and give me a call next day.

Telephoned the same SA next day morning and he confirmed that I will get the car by evening.

When I tried calling him by afternoon, this SA was not picking the phone. Contacted the service center landline number and asked for the SA. They said he is not well and gone home.

Asked for another SA. This new person informed me that car is getting ready and will confirm by 4.00 PM. Again clock and instrument cluster is not in stock and he told me that its a half an hour job which can be done anytime later.

Got a call by 4:30 that my car is ready for delivery at 5:30 PM.

Reached TASS at around 6:30

Almost everybody left at that time. Only two persons were there inside the service center office. One person quickly taken out the papers for my signature.

Good. They replaced the clock along with Instrument Cluster.

Checked the bill:

Driver Information system-low end - Rs 3869.56
Instrument Cluster with new software - Rs 6451.30
Sub total - Rs 10320.86
(Both are done in warranty. So no payment required)

Fuel main line renew(Fuel pipe repair) - Free of Cost

Vehicle offroad helpline charges - Rs 350
(Towing)

Taxes - Rs 36

Total amount to be paid - Rs 386

{Since the fuel pipe is not in stock, they repaired the same pipe cut opened by the rat. DIS and Instrument Cluster was arranged at the last moment and replaced it in warranty}

It was a good experience at TASS

You really have patience. [:)]

I wouldn't leave my car over night for a fuel pipe leak.

BTW, is the fuel line fully plastic/rubber all the way from the tank to the engine? I was under the impression it was metal where it runs under the chassis.

This is ridiculous, the fuel line is not safe from rats!! Even lpg gas hose pipe (Rs 200 odd) provided by Hindustan Petrolium are ratproof, how come tatas are providing such a mediocre pipes?

Fuel pipe, such an important spare part not in stock, again ridiculous.

What is the solution for rat menace, how to prevent similar episode , as the car will be parked at same place.? I occasional y spread phorate/thymate powder in my parking, but its not always practical.

@ autosafari, what was the scenario at warning system? when you were trying to start the car, was it giving you any warning alarm, flashing icons?

Highway Ranger,

Yes, I do have patience sometimes.

This fuel pipe is about 1 foot long from the filter to the engine.

Rats do bite fuel pipes and electrical cables and this can happen in any car irrespective of the make.

Last 2 weeks, I am hearing about at least 5 similar cases in my neighbourhood.

Alto, SX4, Swift, i20 - nothing is spared by the rats.

Fuel pipe not in stock was irritating.

However, I am seeing at positives only. They repaired and delivered the car at least next day.

Maruti Service center told my neighbour to wait for 30 days for the part (fuel pipe of new Alto) to arrive [sleep]

Rats were cruel to my neighbour's i20. Damage was so bad that the bill from Hyundai Service center was Rs 30000. [cry]

I paid only Rs 386 as the total bill (because of towing)

I did not look at the instrument console at that time.
Infact there is not much time left between switching on and starting the car. So I missed warning signal if at all any indication was there. But I am not sure whether any indication/fault detection happen in such a case.

@ auto safari, please do something, collectively, about the rat menace, Same story should not repeat, or they won't spare the repaired pipes.

How about getting muncipal corporation [roll], sanitation, pest control help?

Re: After One Year - Manza Ownership Experience

Yesterday I was at a local tyre shop.

As usual there is a pressure drop in the leftside front tyre and required nitrogen filling.

They checked all the tyres and filling done only for the leftside front tyre.

Doing this every 3-4 weeks for last six months and paying Rs 50 everytime.

This time I told them to check for any puncture. They confirmed that no puncture is there and can be checked later if the frequency of pressure drop increases.

Later, when I insisted they did a re check and found out a big nail pierced inside the tyre with only the flat head seen outside in between the treadlines.

So I was driving with this nail for last six months - 6000 km

Autosafari its 3 months since i got the tyres of car filled with nitrogen.

There is hardly any leak from the tyre.

Once in 4 months i ask them to remove the nitrogen and refill again.

So nitrogen nuts dented your pocket for approx Rs 300 to 400 over a period of 6 months[evil], you should have asked for refund.

How the hell they were checking for a puncture,[confused] before you insisted?

@ mukeshus what's the benefit?

If you park the car for long time the pressure loss in tyre is negligible.

One can no the difference during highway drives, as tyre wont bulge up in hot conditions.

Also prevents the rims/ alloys from corroding.
