Re: After One Year - Manza Ownership Experience

loving your Manza autosafari. we have a manza at home too and i loved it too. found the engine to be really really punchy at times. i actually got a 20km empty stretch of road in patna and decided to go for it. i was cruising at 60km/h and then decided to to pedal to metal. boy the speedo kept climbing. when i was at 110 km/h, i upshifted tad early. so i was going through turbo lag, but soon the turbo came on and suddenly i felt a push in to the seat and the speedo went to an indicated 145 km/h. after that i decided to go back to sanity. haha
The other side of Manza's engine is that you can start from stand still to 38 kmph just by changing gears speed and continue to cruise at 38 kmph without touching the accelerator and the engine running in idling speed. I tried switching the AC on and off with no difference to the speed. And the DIS was showing 25kmpl and the engine was smooth/no knocking.

Low end torque is excellent in Manza.

I have to apply brakes to slow down the car (due to another vehicle infront or bikes/people crossing) even before touching the accelerator pedal.

@ HR,this reminds me of my bullet (enfield india,1982 model}, it use to run similarly(like the owner of the road)@40 kmpl.
@autosafari, will it be too much to call manza as a better city ride as compared to competition?

Absolutely agree with both of you. This is what I felt when I test drove Manza ELAN quadrajet for the first time few months back:

Woooow, yesterday got the privilege of driving my first manza elan tyrian wine colour. It was a test drive car organised by "Basudev Auto" Hazaribag. My observations of the car are below. Remember i drive a petrol indica for daily basis and please see my comments in that light:

LOOKS: Manza elan in wine colour looks hot and fabulous, its so tantalizing t

ENGINE/ PERFORMANCE : Manza thanks to 90 ps power is a rocket, initially i was worried abt turbo lag of the diesel motor, but once i floored the throttle in the 1st gear the car absolutely moved frwd like a petrol car,and in 2nd gear as soon as i went past 2200 RPM, whoooosh the turbo kicked in after that i was like this  throughout my drive, man this car will smoke my petrol indica whithin nano seconds, what pick-up, what smoothness. The gear box was awesome, soft, slick, precise, the clutch, brake and throttle were also soft and mighty responsive. All in all the best tata car ever, period.
Here is link of my short test drive,if one is interested in reading:http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...detailed-test-drive-report-10.html#post114047

Tornado,

I don't call Manza as the best.

What I said was my daily experience.
In Bumper to Bumper traffic in there is no need to touch the accelerator unless it is steep climb. Not even in humps.
Just work on the clutch and brake while we are just gliding through the traffic.
So according to me its a very good car for City too.

Only issue is to get space for overtaking due to its size. But thats not an issue for my collegue who is not worried about scratches.

You can also take the case of Highway Ranger whose Manza is said to be spotted running ahead of other vehicles most of the times in Bangalore traffic.

Note: Hey, its known that we should speak only truth in front of Tornado and Jalex

Very true, even today a Honda ZX cut me at a signal and tried to block me on my favorite stretch of a road where I usually clip. By the time the stretch ended he was 3 cars behind me.[:)]

Like you pointed out both the low end torque and the turbo boost are very good. So you can drive according to your mood.

:agree: exactly same is experienced by me, three chears for manza,
My manza also runs ahead of other cars most of the time, I have read that dzire /linea (diesel)are better city rides than manza due to its different gear ratios tuned for city drive. So wanted to know the truth.

I invite, rudolf, ilango ,gypsy and other diesel manza owners to comment here.I hope that I am not off topic here.

yes low end torque is pretty good. and in the turbo range, it flies!
:agree:

You are right Suhail.
Everytime when I am in a fuel station, I feel relaxed.

Civic is a nice car.

Like you pointed out both the low end torque and the turbo boost are very good. So you can drive according to your mood.
Yes that is the point.

You can be in relaxed mood and drive in a sedate manner or can be aggressive depending on the situation.

Don't take some of those so called reviews seriously. Now it is a fact before your eyes and you are experiencing it every time you drive. So thats it.

Its not off topic. Lets discuss and conclude whether its an exception or Manza performance is real for all owners.

Rightly said. There may be both positives and negatives for cars of all brands. I own a Manza and I am happy with the car's performance. It suits my driving style and meets all the my requirements. That is all that matters to me.

If you are happy with your car, try not to compare it with your neighbor's car. Just enjoy your drives.

Re: After One Year - Manza Ownership Experience

the Manza was a car that even my mom fell in love with at first sight. she aint really a car buff but she knows her priorities in a car and her choices. The moment we arrived in Patna, the manza came to pick us up. it swallowed all our luggage in the boot itself. our civic couldnt do that. mom instantly noticed that. then she sat in the backseat and very instantly said that its good and comfortable. also there was acres of legroom. my mom really got impressed with it.

Manza can be chaffeur-driven too because suspension is quite good at ironing bumps.
