New Tata Harrier SUV (2018 Hyundai Creta rival) gets contoured sport seats – Spy shots

Tata Harrier, showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo as the Tata H5X, is being actively tested ahead of launch scheduled for later this year. It is the company’s first product to be positioned on the platform from Land Rover.

It is based on Tata’s new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture in a 5 seater layout in the SUV segment. The various spy shots from tests being carried out across the country reveal certain exterior and interior features. The latest spy shots clearly show dashboard layout and front seats.

The Tata Harrier will be seen with all LED head and tail lamps. The head lamp cluster is split into three light elements in the front with split DRLs. There is also a headlamp cluster and tail lamps which are in a triangular design.

The test mule also revealed 16” wheels fitted with 235/70 R16 tyres as are seen on the lower spec Tata Hexa while the production model could get larger wheels so as to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and others in its class.

Tata Harrier interiors will be spacious in terms of head, shoulder and leg room while boot space will also be at a premium. It will get comfortable seating and a large 10” floating touchscreen infotainment system powered by Harman which will sport Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Seats will be sporty. Tata might position this as a sporty vehicle, we have already seen video of the car racing on a race track.

Tata Harrier will be the longest SUV in its category. It will be powered by a 2.0 liter MultiJet engine offering 140 PS power that also powers the Jeep Compass while it is yet to be ascertained if Tata Motors will launch the Harrier with a petrol engine or not.

Once sales commence, the Tata Harrier will face competition from the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and upcoming Nissan Kicks. It is expected to be priced between Rs 13-16 lakhs.

Tata Harrier SUV gets Nexon, Tiago style steering wheel and key fob – Brown seats

Tata’s all new flagship SUV has been spied once again. This time, the highlights are the car’s interiors. These spy shots show the production-spec Tata Harrier. It gets the same steering wheel which we have already seen in new Tata cars like Nexon, Hexa, Tiago, Tigor, Bolt and Zest.

One would have expected a more premium steering wheel, but that would have added to cost. Tata aims to launch this car as aggressively as possible, and thats why a lot of parts sharing is expected.

Also visible in the spy shot is the floating touchscreen system, AC vents, drive mode control, 6 speed manual transmission, arm rest, cup holder, mobile phone holder, engine start/stop button, etc. Considering the key fob is same as Nexon, expect the Harrier to also get a wearable key, just like it is offered with Nexon.

The interiors of test mule is done up in black and brown dual tone. The seats are seen in brown fabric, which is also seen on the door panels. The seat offers good contours, to keep you in place while driving the car.

Harrier (H5X) is developed on Tata Motors’ ‘Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture’ platform, aka, Omega Arc. H5X is based on a modified version of LR-MS platform from Land Rover Discovery Sport which also underpins the current Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport. All of this points to a very capable and robust vehicle in the making, most of which of course seems a job well done already.

The Land Rover based SUV from Tata will launch in India in the coming months. Here it will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. It will be powered by a 2.0 liter diesel engine generating 140 PS power. Transmission will be via 6 speed MT and AT. Drive options will be 2WD and 4WD. Price expected Rs 13-16 lakhs. More details to be revealed soon.

The steering wheel is not same, If you Check closely Buttons and center horn pad is different. Yes the design is similar as a design language.

All in all quite close to concept shown in the auto show earlier this year.

Am quite excited about the handbrake lever, will it also serve the purpose to some kind of hand-rest[;)] Is it electronically assisted or manual.

Tata Harrier Spy Image Reveals Speedo Console with Coloured TFT

The Tata Harrier spy image that we have with us today reveals the speedo console of the upcoming flagship SUV in all its glory. The highlight of the instrument panel is its coloured TFT Multi-information Display (MID), which shows vital statistics like distance-to-empty and several infotainment options.

The speedometer and the tachometer get white backlighting while there’s a vertical digital fuel gauge display. The lower end of the speedo console displays the odometer. On the other hand, there’s an outside temperature display on the upper end. the engine temperature gauge is placed right below the tachometer.

The speedometer is calibrated to 220 kmph. 100 kmph marking is right in the top-most part of the dial’s circumference. The tachometer is calibrated to 6,000 RPM. The most interesting detail, however, is that the instrument panel gets a semi-digital format. While the tachometer and the MID have a digital form, the speedometer is an analogue unit.

New Tata Harrier SUV (Hyundai Creta rival) debut event details leaked

Tata Harrier, the production version of H5X premium SUV concept, has been designated as the lead car for the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2019 which is scheduled to take place on January 20. This means, the new Tata SUV could use the prestigious event to make its world premiere.

Based on a modified Land Rover platform which now goes by the name OMEGA, the Harrier will be the Indian automaker’s new flagship offering, positioned above the Hexa. The 5-seater premium SUV will be locking horns with the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creata. Tata is also working on an extended version of the Harrier which will pack three row of seats. This 7-seater is expected to hit the market roughly a year after the Harrier.

While the platform is derived from Land Rover, the engine is sourced from FCA. The Fiat 2.0-litre MultiJet II four-cylinder diesel engine which also powers the Compass will be serving the Harrier and its bigger sibling. The motor is expected to have a unique state of tune for the Tata products.

A 6-speed manual transmission will be standard and a 6-speed torque converter automatic unit will be offered as an option. While the entry-level variants make to with two-wheel-drive layout, the fully loaded variant will come with all-wheel-drive capability.

Starting from the Tiago/Tigor twins, Tata Motors’ efforts to achieve a turnaround is inching steadily in the right direction. The brisk selling Nexon crossover which recently outsold the Ford EcoSport has offered the much needed momentum to the company’s new strategy. The Harrier and it’s 7-seat sibling are tasked with bringing back the lost glory and establishing Tata in the highly lucrative premium car segment which is flourishing in India.

The Tata Harrier range is expected to undercut the Jeep Compass which itself carries aggressive pricing. The 7-seater will take a shot at the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and Skoda Kodiaq with lower price as its USP.
